Love the video lovely bagpipes love how it is Scottish I just wish I could see the video I am a registered blind Runner hope one day people like yourself can raise awareness about my visibility and try and help me get my eyesight restored so I can see again so I can see my son's face again so I can run again without having to die on people to run alongside me keep up the great work and all the great videos
I'm sorry to hear this, mate. It's very inspiring to see so many blind runners out there smashing these runs, though. It must be a real sense of achievement, nothing holiding you back from achieving greatness. I hope one day, too, that with all the advanced research that they can help get your vision back, buddy. The Scottish bagpipes get me every time. Thanks again for your support.
Great effort mate. Good to see you out there and at the end of the race.
Thanks Ryan! Ah it was exactly what I needed. Seeing you guys at the start and finish! Appreciate all the support 🙏. Well done on Chicago ⭐️✨️🙌
Great recap and really enjoyed your reflections too mate. Can’t wait to see the next steps. Keep smashing it mate! 💖🔥
Thanks mate 👍. I really appreciate the support as always 🙏. It was a fantastic day all round 😀 .
Watched your video last year, it gave me the inspiration to sign up to the 10K this year. Glad it was the 10K as in January I fell in a pot hole and done ankle ligament damage. 10 months to the day almost I was in the GSR. I’m now eyeing the half next year. The vibes were awesome. I have a few issues with the course, St Vincent Street is easier for me as I have tons of hills on my regular training route in Rouken Glen Park. Finneston area was okay, the Kingston was a struggle as the incline and how cool it was and the wind threw me. Scotland Street was actually a struggle too, long slight incline. Seaward Street was better, PRW was decent and down to and over the Squinty was decent too. As for Clydeside, long flat and boring. The last two kilometres were immense fun. The atmosphere was building. The last kilometre was the most fun, let out a four letter expletive next to a few women, that was the word they were looking for as well. Then another woman gave me the “let’s go” I was trying to keep to pace. Then that little gremlin in my head got told, I’m going now. I finished with that woman. The camaraderie in the race group was brilliant and beautiful. As I have attended The Eras Tour, it was a very similar loving atmosphere. It was my first race, and won’t be my last. The year end train down is about to begin, my plans are to do more at home gym sessions along with running now. Time to try and get stronger, and hopefully fitter for the half. I’m not as quick as you, I’m a 7 to 8 minute a kilometre slower runner.
I don't think I've ever had such a detailed race comment, you really painted the full picture and let me experience it from your eyes! Thank you for that 😀. I must say scotland street has caught me out a few times, and I would say that it's all about those first few hills. I've went out too hard. You maybe don't think it, but sometimes you get carried away. Especially under rave atmosphere, you get excited lol. Watch my last few GSR vlogs I've been hanging on every time. Going into training for next years half, have a real think about taking it over easy, until you are more or less out of Pollok park. It's those hills between mile 6 and 8 that hurt the most. Especially if you go too hard on the first Mile. Thanks for all the support mate 👍
👏👏👏👏
My man 💪
Well done mate and great video!
Yessss my man 💪!! Really appreciate that. The perfect run 🏃♂️ 👌 😍
I think there were a lot of slower guys in your wave. I was yellow and started at 12:03 and when i was on paisley road west there were green runners coming the other way still at cessnock! They would definitely have been 2hrs 30 or more. Most of them looked like theyd hit the wall pretty hard.
Yeah mate! That makes sense. Really looked like a lot of people were crammed into the green wave for some reason . Again fantastic day out though. Thanks for the support 👍 🙏
I agree exactly what you say in the great video looking back on your wonderful achievement on the Great Scottish Run, you did so well, the crowds were fantastic both in your HM and the 10K I ran, like you I have already signed up for next year's run, again for me the 10K version.*only* 52 weeks to go
Fantastic Alan. It's something to focus on. Good for you mate 👍
Great recap mate. Well done.
Thanks again mate. I really appreciate the support 🙏
Well done mate
Cheers mate! I really appreciate the support 🙏
A great recap of a great run mate! You nailed it! Especially after the risky week leading up to race day. Huge kudos mate! 😎🤘
Cheers Ben. I really appreciate the support as always my man 💪. Yeah it was touch and go for a couple of weeks eh! Glad I made it to the start 🙌
Great recap mate. Didn't race for a PB either as you know as its the most I've enjoyed a race and felt the least frustrated afterwards. Food for thought isn't it!
Yeah definitely mate! Have we been doing it wrong all along 🤣. Thanks for the top support as always buddy and great to see you on the day.
Enjoy the videos mate! I ran on Sunday too. Same time as you. Different experience though.🫠 lessons learned for next year. I’ve followed you on strava. How do I join the WhatsApp group?
Fantastic mate! Yeah I just seen that , gave you a follow back. There should be a link in the vlog description 😀. This has honestly been such an eye-opener for me on how to approach races going forward. A bit like yourself , I've paid the price every year and never learned. Thanks for the support mate it's hugely appreciated 👏

Thanks for the link mate! Appreciated
Been enjoying your videos having recently picked up running. See you on a course soon! 🙂
Thanks mate! I really appreciate that 👍. I have a what's app group chat if you fancied joining that. Full of like minded people. Are you local to Glasgow?

@@runningwithstephen Nice one! yes I'm based in Bearsden. Sent your Whatsapp a wee invite request.
Awesome mate! Added you. Hopefully we could meet up for some WHW trails if you were up for it? At some point 👍
@@runningwithstephen Totally up for it. Let me get 5K under my belt a few times ;-)
I did the 10k, in 1 hour 27, but i hadn't ran in 2 weeks and my knee was pretty bad. Still, the motivation was there was a guy dressed as a clown, and i didn't want to be beaten by him 🤣🤣
Fantastic John! Haha I know the feeling. We had a guy dressed as a bear in front of us and I didn't want to be beaten by him 🤣. Well-done for getting it done though. Takes alot to see past and push through that injury. Hope you're doing well now. 🙌. Thanks for watching 👀 🙏
✅🏃
That was bad planning by the organisers having that ultra on the same weekend as The Great Scottish Run, only a few elite athletes could do that ultra on Saturday then run the next day the half marathon or even 10K of the GSR.
Yeah I know mate. Last year ot was a week apart and by the looks of it, it's a week apart next year. So I may have another go at it 👀 haha.
Good afternoon Stephen , I don't want to remind you regarding last yesrs ultra marathon from Glasgow to Edinburgh but I am wondering if it's on, will you be running it this year?
Hey Alan , it was last weekend. It had crossed my mind for next year but I may do the great Scottish run.
Camera angle needs up tilt
Congratulations Stephen, good effort and sensibly timed - going past plenty of folk at the end there.
Thanks mate! I really do appreciate that 🙏. Yeah I felt in absolute control towards the end. Best I've ever felt, to be honest. I think I really learnt alot about myself on this race. It was epic. Thanks again for the support mate
To my mind this was a perfectly run race, (just on my second watch) . Very well done Stephen. You have come a long way pal.
You know John I learnt a very valuable lesson yesterday, about myself. How my body responds to just holiday back , knowing the route and knowing when to kick on properly. Your spot on. It was perfect and it made for such a cracking day because of it. Loved it. Thanks again for the huge support, mate. It really is appreciated 👏
The Great Stephen Run! What a performance! It's amazing how much better it all feels when you don't push too hard in the first few KMs - nicely done 😁
Haha what a catch phrase Simon. I'll use that next year 🤣. Yeah definitely mate. I learnt a very valuable lesson yesterday about myself and how it feels to perfectly execute a race. Rather than getting carried away. Thanks again for all your support mate. It's hugely appreciated 👏.
Brilliant Stephen & Grant!!...🎉🎉What a crackin video!!.. 😁...i did the 10k but just blew up at 8k and walked /jogged the last 2k...i just wanted medal and t shirt tbh. 😅I've just put it down too a bad day as its not happened b4... 🙃Great too see all these runners recognising you.. 🎉🎉Grant did brill for having no real training.. 😁😁x
Thank you so much Liz! Really glad you enjoyed the vlog. I loved making it and lived everything about that day 💪. It was perfect. That's the way, at least you got it over the line 👏👏. Well done. Yeah, it was so nice out on the course, people coming up to mr as well as the spectators shouting. It really was a very humbling experience. I was going to skip next year and have a cracking at G2E again. But a huge part of me just wants to relive that experience. Thanks again for all your support. It's hugely appreciated, always 🙏
@@runningwithstephen it is a great race I just had a bad day... 😂I'm hoping too do the half next year I do love that route and I've Done it twice b4....i run pollok /Bella a lot and the clydeside... Really enjoyed that video... The big bear in front of you at the start is my friend John he was running for autism... 😁x
@lizgreen2936 oh wow! If only I had knew
Superb Steven mate. Well done. Looked incredible. That was amazing having your boy running with you at the end. Well done to him. Looking forward to your next vlog. ATVB Alan
Thanks Alan! It was such an iconic day. One of the best I've had from start to finish. Yeah they love it so much, zander hung back and ran with Grant. To help him cross the line. Both of them are little super starts. Thanks again for all your support matey 👍. Hopefully we can get another we run in soon. 💪💪
Well done Stephen, glad you had a good day and cheers for another great video!
Thanks so much mate 👍. It was an absolute blast and I gained a little bit more knowledge about myself and racing . Thanks again for your continued support mate. It's hugely appreciated 👏
What a run! Huge kudos Stephen! 👏 So glad to see you get it done after the injury issues on the build up. You ran it consistently and sensibly and you smashed it. Huge kudos to Grant for grinding it out too and what a finish! 👏😎🤘🏅
Thanks Ben , it was s fantastic day. One of those runs that everything just goes to plan. I suppose staying sensible plays a huge part in that. It really was one of the best and strongest runs I've ever had. Yeah huge kudos to grant. What a legend for rocking up and getting it done. Thanks again for all the support matey, it's always massively appreciated 👏
Well done mate. Superb time! Glad your calf didn't shout at ye during the run ! A wee coffee coming your way ma man ☕️ cheers
I know mate! I can't believe how well it went. The whole run I felt super strong 💪. Mate I really do appreciate that so much 🙏. Thank you for the support 👍. It really goes a long way 😌🙏. Oh and going forward I think this is how I'll run my races, about 30 seconds of pace and gradually build into them. It felt absolutely epic 😎
@runningwithstephen Aye you looked a lot more comfortable than you did last year. I've only got one speed and that is slow. I'm slowly learning to run with a new stride so I do intervals. 1 or 2km max then rest for 60-90 secs. I got round it in 2hrs 15 which I was pleased with as I nearly never made it due to an inflamed bowel. Thankfully that never caused any grief on the day.
@rydo2012 yeah I remember you saying mate. That's fantastic you made it round. Really well done mate. I'd maybe suggest pyramid intervals. Like 200m 400m 600m 800m 600m 400m 200m with 60/90 sec rest for the longer efforts. Well done mate 👍 👏
Amazing video mate and a bloody good run. Well in 💖☺️
Thanks mate! I hugely appreciate your support as always. Yesterday was such a good day out. Can't believe how good it was for us both. You smashed it man. Keep up the hard work!
Nice One Mate 🏃🏻💪🔥😎
Cheers mate! I really appreciate the support as always 🙏
Nice one Stephen ❤
Cheers matey! Really appreciate the top support 🙌
Superb! Cracking time as well. Brilliant to see the wee fella crossing the line with you. He was buzzing about it this morning when I was talking to him about it!
Thanks Stephen! Aye both of them were super inspired yesterday by our efforts. Zander didn't want his uncle Grant crossing by himself, so he held off, coming with me to run with him. Super thoughtful of him. Everything we go to an event the question is always asked straight after, can we do this next year with you lol. They are in for a shock when they actually can 🤣. Really appreciate the support, all of the time. Thank you.
hey mate, thats me who was in the orange t shirt at 8:11. great seeing you :)
Hey mate! Ah it really was fantastic to see you on the route. How did your race go?
@@runningwithstephen loved it. Broken today :)
@barryure75 epic mate! Make sure you get on your recovery 💪. I'm feeling remarkable today haha. Might try a wee run tomorrow or Wednesday. To do the recap vlog 💪
Let's go and get it done, great video from you Stephen, good luck for Sunday, as this is now Monday I can congratulate you on completing the Great Scottish Run half Marathon, I ran the 10K version, the crowds were wonderful as well, however, there were NO pipers for the 10K runners
Ah, awesome, mate. Yeah it was probably the best race of my life. Loved every minute of it. How was your race? That's a shame about the pipers as they made it such an experience 😎
My run was fine Stephen, it was great running over the normally closed Kingston Bridge looking down to the Clydeside walkway that I run along often, the cheering was particularly loud on the last 1500 metres to the end and in Glasgow Green when I sprinted the last 50 metres, nice medal and T shirt, however, as it was a Scottish Run although held in Glasgow I think the wording on the T shirt should have been Scotland not Glasgow, lovely T shirt nevertheless.
@alanmorr3635 never thought of that mate. Good point! Glad you had a great time
Brilliant mate. Well done to Grant also
Thanks mate we really appreciate that 👍 🙏.
Well in mate. Great run! Can’t agree more about the pipes btw. There was a pipe band at about 26k in Berlin, was a real struggle not to stop and take it in!
Haha! Gets you every time doesn't it! Thanks for the support mate. Really appreciate it 🙏 .
I love you because you have a DJI drone and I love DJI
😮😮😮😮
Adrenaline will kick in tomorrow and you won’t notice the injury have a great run 🏃🏻💪👍
What a race mate! Paced perfectly and a strong finish. Vlog out tomorrow probably
Good luck and see you on the start line 😁😁😁
Yes!! Thanks mate! Good luck to you too. Hopefully, I'll see you there 👍
You are going to nail it. KT tape has got me through many a run (and a big reason why I think my 'timed' event days are over). I'm not sure I've started many races uninjured 😂I mind starting the Edinburgh Marathon with my LCLs in both knees done. My Mrs (an actual Doctor!) said her medical advice was not to do it. Obviously, being stubborn, I didn't listen and when both my knees went between 16 and 18 miles, I wished I listened! 😂 Anyway, you've got this in the bag. Mind over matter (and plenty of KT tape strapping you up!)
Haha! Aye know exactly what you mean with the stubbornness 🤣. We really don't like being told we can't do something, eh? Yeah today is about going out and just trying to enjoy it as much as possible. I'll probably still rock a comfortable 2 hours and I'd be happy with that. Thanks again for all the support 🙏.
Best of luck matey!
Thanks mate! I really appreciate the support as always 🙏
Great news mate! Best of luck for the race mate. I am sure you'll smash it. 😎🤘
Cheers mate I really appreciate the support as always. The plan for now is just get it over the line with no issues.
Well done mate, glad you got the calf sorted in time! I'm still unsure if I'll run, I'll see how I am in the morning. I'd never even considered kinesiology tape. I've got a roll somewhere and might just tape my calf up. That's not what my main issue is, but it'll raise its ugly head at some point so the tape might just delay that. Anyway good luck tomorrow mate. What's your wave time tomorrow? We are 11:38
Cheers mate! I really appreciate that. I really hope you can make it with no issues. Yeah the Kt helps just that wee bit doesn't it. I'm in the 10:07 green wave as the target was sub 140. Now it's just get it over the line lol. Thanks again fir the support bud. Good luck for tomorrow.
Brilliant mate. You've got this 👍💪💪💪
Thanks Alan I really appreciate that 👍 🙏
Good stuff. Good luck. Not sure if you class an injury after an awesome 10 run on Sunday along loch lubnaig with my besties and his son. Tuesday got hit by flu which has been around the whole household. Almost better now but running a half tomorrow would be silly for me. I have done GSR many times. Not looking for a PB. Lanzarote marathon my A race in December so focused on that. Hopefully GlenOgle 33 in Nov. smash it tomorrow Stephen
Ah jeez mate! Yeah the flu will set you back big time and will probably still have a prolonged effect on your breathing and recovery , well into next week. You made the right call mate. Yes, that's totally my plan. Take it easy and just enjoy the run 🏃♂️. Thanks again mate , I really appreciate the support buddy. Take care and get well soon 😊.
@@runningwithstephen I was sweating today doing the house work. lol 😂
@RunWithJohn haha!
Yessss sir 🎉🎉
Let's Go Bro 💪
Been fighting with insertional Achilles tendinopathy since July last year. Seems to just come and go but not putting any pressure on a time tomorrow just going along for the ride. Hope all goes well for GSR mate
Yeah that's absolutely the right call. Very same with myself, no pressure take it easy, and hopefully get over the line with no hiccups. Thanks for the support mate. It's hugely appreciated, best of luck to you also mate. 💪💪
Get better soon Stephen mate 👊🏼
Cheers matey. Appreciate that 💯 as always. Just hope I make it for Sunday 💪
Mate, I feel your pain. Recently I was doing the great north 10k and the exact injury got me. Finished the run, I used the gun, rested it for a week until my next run, but 3 miles in it kicked off again. So just repeated the process, completed a 5k the week after, could feel it but it wasn’t as bad. So I just rested it for two weeks and that sorted it. Hope yours is sorted sooner than that (for Sunday). If a bald bearded fella from the north east of England comes and asks how your leg is doing, that’ll be me.
Ah top man! Hopefully I see you there 👍. Yeah exactly what I'm doing. I'm just hoping it's fine for Sunday too. It really will be a last minute decision. As it stands my plans are in place. Whether it goes ahead or not will be the question. Yeah, it's a nasty little bugger isn't it? Just gets you when you least expect it. I mean, I was pushing last week on the track, but not to the extent of injury. Best of luck mate. I really do hope we cross paths. Thanks for the support 👍 🙏
Hi Stephen, I just hope you recover from any injury before The Great Scottish Run on Sunday 6/10, you have put so much into your training for it, I assume you are in the fast 10am purple wave, I wish you all the very best, I am also running fot first time TGSR, however, I am only running the 10K version starting at 08:58.
Thanks Alan. I really appreciate the well wishes. I sure hope so too. It can be so frustrating. I think it's important to show the good and the bad. Oh wow mate! That's epic. I'm in the green wave 10:07 start. I'm hoping to see the 10ks at some point. So I may be around before it. Very best of luck. Thanks again for the support 👍
