I thought I said it in the video but apparently not, but before you suggest it, I have already seen H.Y.C.Y.B. by Tom Cardy...it was one of the first songs of his I heard/saw. So no, I sadly won't be reacting to that one.

My favorite part about that song is how it starts as relationship problems when receiving mixed messages but then turns into an utter obsession of punching her father in the crotch.
Total left-field jokes like that are a damn artform and I wish I was better at them in my own songs. 😅

Mixed Messages was done by an artist who used OCs for the video. The dude is her OC for several things, but I believe this version might be from a GTA RP. The lady is a friends OC. You can see her stuff in the description of the video.

The animation of the facial expressions in the Mixed Messages video was reaaaally on point.
I just freaking JUST GOT the scene of him leaping off Earth in Mixed Messages! He "disappeared off the face of the planet"!
In case it's not a common phrase, it means he vanished, gone, no longer exists on Earth.

I love how the humans think that it's because the ai doesnt have junk that he wants to enslave them. Completely missing the point that it's the unsolicited pics that's upsetting him.
I don't know if you knew, but I've read under the original video that it was animated by a fan who made an animation for the short version with their Fallout OC, and then Tom saw it and asked them to collab for a full song and this is how this masterpiece were born. So the guy in the video is not Tom, but the OC of that lucky artist.
If you didn’t know, the character in mixed messages is the animator’s GTA5 AU version of their fallout 4 modded companion OC. And his name is Buttons :3

I think my favorite song is Business Man (full album version). Mixed Messages (full) takes the final punchline of the first verse and then beats it to death (puns intended), but Business man just pulls out a whole new one.
The fact that these songs started to trend again says something about this guys talent

Mixed messages was his first song I heard of. Lol it was the shorter live version. I thought; this looks interesting. I forgot what initially led me to it, but I can't be more grateful. Lol I love his content ❤️ I resonate with the humor a lot. And the vibe and tunes. It literally made my day and continues to do so when it im feeling low.
My other favorites; why am I anxious, big breakfast, hall and oates (version 2, important to note), and that one song that has the piano song that most people learn how to play... Idk the official name, but it might be 'spoons'? Idk but in the vid he does a skit about that one cousin playing that song... It's just the way Tom says 'Chopin' and 'Beethoven' that I really like. Oh and because I have a cousin that knows that song too! Lol
Ps I lied. Another cool song is a sad song, the error 169 song. I thought, wow that's creative, relatable, and humorous.

I have, I haven't watched Inside yet and have thought about reacting to some of the songs from it outside of the total film experience, but I haven't gotten around to them yet.

@@Insaneian I honesty would reccomended watching the whole special before any of the individual songs. So many of the songs are specifically written to work within the context of the special and while they all are great even without that context, they are all enhanced by it and won't be as impactful without that context. I know for a fact that I would not have had nearly the same reaction to "that funny feeling" had i heard it without seeing the whole special.

Just found your channel and I love it. Mixed Messages was the first song I heard from Tom Cardy and I was just like you, busting my ass laughing at it. I love how by the end the dad just seems to accept his new reality. He's like: "Ok, I may be getting punched in the groin everyday but at least my daughter's happy."
Just realized what the joke was with the woodpecker at 14:08. Woodpeckers headbutt wood, and the character just headbutted the father’s “wood.”
Also "pecker" is another word for penis.

Probably far too late, but the reason Pliz turns up in Mixed Messages is because there's a meme based on a panel of Garfield getting thrown through the window that the dog/dad images are based on, so I assume it's that.
The best part in my opinion was when he headbutted him and the wind flew all his hair upwards
XD The animator called their work eye strain!!! I don’t know why but when I was just giggling or small laughs until I was eye strain. My brain took two seconds to process it then I started bursting out laughing!!!

A tiny ass detail with the AI song is that at the start it is almost all vocoded and then at the end after the robot has its introspective moment the Vocoding drops out almost completely emphasizing the robots transition to being “human”

Hello! Just stopping by to let you know that if you press the "" buttons on a paused youtube video, you can go through frame by frame to find whatever you're looking for. It's not as fun as spamming pause, but it is more effective!
I did that at first, but it actually goes by as five seconds as opposed to j and l which goes by as 10, not frame by frame.
@@Insaneian I think they meant the "," and "." keys (which are "" when shift-ed), which work almost frame-by-frame (I don't think it's exactly frame-by-frame, but close enough to be useful).

When I first saw Carol Brown I had never heard it before. It made me laugh so hard. What's funny is when I watched FOTC video for it there's all sorts of visual jokes and stuff. While I realize that the original came from a TV show, I never felt like I missed something even though I didn't catch every joke at first, it meant with repeated watching I caught more jokes. And I watched it a million times to learn the song. 😂😂😂😂😂

By the way, this style of animation in Mixed Messages and Red Flags, is called an animatic, where it is animation but its animating between static images
Not quite an animatic, as usually animatics have much less movement. This is still an animation, just without lip sync.
Animatics are usually made using the test drawings or storyboards to show the animators how to transition shots for the full animation. This is more animated than most animatics are.
(I have friends who work in the animation industry, and one who exclusively works in using animatics)

This wave of X reacts is really taking off and I've noticed that there's a ritual observance and respect for fair use. The online culture has evolved positively in this space. And these perspectives are offer more than the vicarious experience of "hey let's watch this together." I like that a lot.
The words on the posts is like having a newspaper in a show, it's useless dribble that you don't have to read but it's there for people who do and will take time to do it and not just look at the visuals

I know you probably won’t see this since I’m commenting on an old video but if you haven’t seen it already, “why am I anxious” is a great Tom Candy song.
Why Am I Anxious is actually the first or second Tom Cardy video I ever saw (on TikTok even) so I have seen it, but sadly don't have a reaction to, since I saw it and HYCYBH together. However it was those two songs that led me to looking to see if he had a RUclips and reacting to the rest of his work.
Bruce is also the name of the shark in Nemo, named after the one in JAWS and unapologetically aussie like most of the cast
For something like the texts on Carol Brown you can use "," and ".". "," goes one frame back and "." goes one frame forth.

never seen you before, an not rly much of a react person, but I still really enjoyed seeing someone in a similar field give his thoughts an reactions on it, I think this is a great react series. @@manicmath3557 I saw your comment about Aunty Donna in my notifications, but it's not showing up here (a few of your other comments have had this happen too, I think) but I reply here...I'm VERY familiar with Aunty Donna's comedy music, as Mister Whiskers was nominated for a Logan Award for Comedy Music the first year I was the chairperson for the awards! I went back and listened to/watched all their songs from their album, and I dig their sketches as well. Very dadaist humor. They even have a Netflix show! Sadly, this was all before I started doing reactions, but if they release any new music, I'll likely react to it here.
