Allah swt created the animals with lusts and no reasoning, and He created the angels with reasoning and no lusts, and he created the humans with lusts and reasoning, so if u follow ur lusts u become like an animal and if u follow ur reasoning u become like an angel!
    Subhanallah

The thing is all films and music have an agenda. The agenda is the opposite of Islam. So if you want to come close to Allah, cutting out films and music is an important means of doing that.

One very important reason not to watch movies is that many contain shirk. Especially the more popular one's: game of thrones, harry potter etc.

The thing about watching movies, television, etc. for anyone seeking God, is that it keeps us caught up in the world with all its attractions and desires. We who worship God all worship the same, One God. He goes by different names in different parts of the world and different cultures. We're all seeking the same thing. We can be in the world but not of the world. God is Love and to know God we must all have love for each other.

so train and force yourself to control from falling for worldly entertainment.
if these worldly entertainment causes you to not prostrate and forget God, disrupt our duty and relation to God. then you know it is naturally wrong

Asalam Alaykum Wa Rahmatullaahi Wa Barakatu,
This Sheikh spent a good 15 to 20 minutes talking about free mixing and gave references from the Hadith, which I concur, but what I'm confused about is during Hajj free mixing is there during circling the Kabbah. Can someone explain to me what is the exception here and please reference it from Quran & Sunnah, not what you think.

It's not that people think Islam is too boring. It's that people think Islam doesn't allow for Human creativity when it comes to arts such as drawing(in some cases), Music, Dancing and so forth . And yes, I have heard arguments for art being Haraam. This is what turns people away from Islam is that they think it is denies Human creativity.

+DeAnn Blackmon AsselamuAleikum sister. When you are learning about the deen its not waste of time its Ibadah (part of worship) and In Shaa Allah we will get rewarded for it. Sister concentrate on your 5 fard prayers and try to learn the Quran and aviod doing Shirk big or small, the rest will come in do time In Shaa Allah, And only Allah knows best.

    • @RealName007
      @RealName007 9 лет назад +5

+DeAnn Blackmon In short shirk is associating partners with Allah. Shirk is the only sin that Allah will not forgive if a person dies on it and does not repent.. And only Allah knows best. Here is a good lecture about shirk: /watch?v=SjYoLxOO2cs. I think brother Tim Humbel and Mufti Menk has some good lectures to just youtube it. /Selam

Thank you, I watched the whole lecture and it was very beneficial for me to hear :)
I want to quit, but thing is I've been watching movies for years; crime, drama, romance, violence, etc. How do I quit? Because even Abu Ibraheem Hussnayn said in the video that old habits die hard. Every time I want to quit I feel a sense of unease and discomfort and get thoughts like "but there's that new movie that's coming out I really wanted to watch that" or "but the new episode of so-and-so is coming out tomorrow I need to find out what happens to so-and-so!!" How do I defeat these urges and thoughts? I also often feel like I'll have nothing to do or my life will be boring without looking forward to a certain show, movie or game and then watching that movie or playing that game. I'm so conflicted, I know what's right and what's wrong now, but I just don't know how to quit and how to make these thoughts and urges go away.

I agree with not watching movies but the element of free-mixing seems odd because that would even happen in a supermarket, walking down the street or even just at university. The idea of watching movies is clearly wrong based on the content of the majority of the movies being negative and likely to lead astray. Am I wrong in thinking this??

I have a tip inshaAllah! If you can't stop gaming, and your game does not need to be listend to, like f.eks. FIFA, where the commentator only talks in vain, set the TV on mute, and listen to lectures, like "DailyReminders" or "SoilderofAllah2" or any other then the TV. And by that you will stop movies and music inshaAllah, and may Allah grant us iman and knowledge with hikma

maybe anyone who thoughts that movie are't that bad, because there's still a beneficial movie for our life, it is good to see that kind of movie, movie that could teach us the important thing of this life and so on, but my brother, 1 thing that is forgotten by people is that, movie or any entertainment thing will slowly swallow you in to the, "Love of Duniya" the more you see an interesting entertainment the more you don't want to leave this world immediately, all of you must be understand about all of us will die someday, and that's the key to attain the eternal life, is it you are eternal in jannah or eternal in the hell of fire, remember the true place that we'll return is akherat, it is not this world, this world is just a place to worship Allah. and the second thing is, movies and everything that'll entertain you will threw you away from dzikrullah, from reading quran, from doing tawbah and istighfar (seeking Allah's forgiveness), and will threw you away from qiyamul lail, do you know that Qalbun Saleem, the pure heart is the requirement that'll lead someone go into jannah, and how to attain that? obviously it is dzikrullah, reading quran, tawbah and istighfar, and qiyamul lail, wallahualam, may Allah be with us

"I heard AllahsApostle say"All the sins of my followers will be forgiven except those of the Mujahirin (who commit a sin openly/disclose their sins to the people). An example of such disclosure is that a person commits a sin at night & though Allah screens it from the public, he comes in the morning, and says, 'O so-&-so, I did such-&-such (evil) deed yesterday,' though he spent his n8 screened by his Lord (none knowing about his sin) and in the morning he removes Allah's screen from himself."

You are correct in your observation. Even in the mosque at the time of the nabi(s) they would not place barriers between the men and women. The sheikh however only mentions free mixing in the context of western secular activities that without doubt are there to lead a person into haram.
Ask your local imam about it but as long as you are following Allah's command to lower your gaze it shouldn't even matter.
