I would love a second video exploring the Barbie fairyverse! I think the Mariposa films are some of the strongest entries (although I'm more nostalgic for the original trilogy). Of special note I think is the sequel, Mariposa and the Fairy Princess, where Mariposa gets to be an ambassador. Unfortunately she loses her lovely accent, and gets the classic "she's perfect except for her one flaw: clumsiness" treatment, which ruins her ambassador career. I wish we had got a film where there was a true disagreement between her and the king that they had to work through diplomatically. However, Mariposa and Katania also have a strong love story in mine and many other's eyes. And it's gorgeous visually. I hope you enjoy them if you haven't seen them yet :) Love your vids!

YES Fairytopia, in my eyes, is still the best Barbie line to date. The dolls are so detailed and whimsical, the Mermaidia dolls being among my favorites for how beautiful the sculpting on the tails are. I still collect these dolls to this day- so far I've got an original Elina and Shella (the pink and green mermaid) but there's so many more with cool designs!! Aghhhhh I'd get em all of eBay if I could afford it- too bad these dolls are getting rarer and more valuable by the year tho, by the time I save up they'll be out of my price range again 😵

When you mentioned the book that came with it, i was in shock. I had totally forgot about this little folio ... I need to see if I still have it. I remember back then that I would spend so much time on the mini-games in hopes of finding an easter egg or some interractions that I would've missed the first time. The Fairytopia trilogy are my favorite Barbie movies ever (and YES that includes that new one with Margot Robbie!) I watched them the other day for the first time in years and I remembered why I loved them. They were corny and some things didn’t make sense but they just had this charm to them that makes you want to rewatch them over and over again. I pretty much owned every Fairytopia toy they made. It’s so heartbreaking that my old Fairytopia toys were stolen by a tenant at one of the apartments my family rents. They had been storing my old toys in the garage there and they let the new renter use the garage and they stole all my toys when they moved away.
As a kid, I remember how much I WANTEDDD The Elina Magic of the Rainbow doll 😂 it looked like literal magic when they show you can use the doll to control her game

This is just a small detail I wanted to share, the "two" Elina dolls released for Mermadia were in fact one single doll with a detachable tail! the wings would fold down into the fin at the bottom and this plastic piece would hold it together into a tail shape. I had it as a kid and it actually broke really fast because the mechanism that folded the wings down was really flimsy LOL. Thanks for sending me back to more peaceful childhood days, it was fun to remember how much I ADORED this series.
It is interesting you mention songs being a part of a different version of the movie, because there was meant to be a fourth movie that got cancelled! The Elina doll with the Swan Lake-esque wings, also known as Magic Lights Elina (I think?) is apparently her outfit from the film, and is one of the rarer dolls as it got quickly pulled off shelves when the movie never came out. Maybe the songs were meant to go in it! Lovely video, your scrapbook pages were sooooo cute!!
I remember going to the Live show!!! I was very young but I loved it. I don't remember the plot but all the girlies got dressed up and had little photo sessions with barbie and bibble. I was too afraid so i don't think i participated. The show was basically the movie with a few extra songs to fill out a full 2-3 hr showtime. The cast and ensemble ate every note. The butterfly flying moment stuck with me because it was Barbie on this HUGE rolling prop with fabric wings that really flapped . I think the show ended with like a glitter and bubble shower so all the kids could jump with glee.
I'm so happy you had sections on the DVD menus and games which I feel have been a lost art. There have been many nights I would fall asleep to the menu screen after watching the movie and playing the games over and over again, it's one of the most nostolgic things to me.
You don't know how funny is the "open my shell" scene for Latino ppl. In spanish you have two dubs, the Spain dub and the Latino dub, basically the word for shell in Spain is "concha de mar" or just "concha", however, in many latino countries we use that word to mean pussy. So you can have a good idea of us watching that scene in the Spain dub and the snail saying that and then giving you that look.
All the early Barbie movies were my most precious dvds, I have so many amazing memories of watching my favorite Barbie movies and at a time I had my favorite ones completely memorized so I could watch them in my head. (Idk if that’s an autism thing or what but I fr had so many movies memorized & would watch them in my head when I was bored)

first of all claps all around for your videos, they're so lovely, your vibe is great and the way you present things is so nice second, i knew the first fairytopia was my favorite barbie movie as a kid and i knew i was obsessed with it, but i forgot how much and seeing this with the dvd menus unlocked Memories for me i watched this movie so often i could quote it, and one day while watching it i fell off the couch and busted my chin so hard i had to go to the hospital to get it stitched my parents kept telling the tale of how i roleplayed the movie so hard i broke my chin for years i did ice skating as a kid, and for my costume i got to pick whatever i wanted, so naturally i drew an outfit based on elina and begged my parents for a seamstress to make it she didn't have pink fabric so she made it in blue but i was still happy about it, my performance song had nothing to do with barbie or fairies but i had to find a way to squeeze my hyperfixation of this movie into everything i did but yea, just random things i remembered since you asked for our experience with this movie, thanks for the video, hope you have a lovely day !
I was a small child when the fairytopia stuff came out so I have vague memories of the other fairy dolls but it really seems like there was going to be another version of fairytopia and they changed it…now I’m super curious what that story was gonna be
I had the blonde main character Barbie :) most memorably the wings somehow had a fibrous texture in addition to lighting up, reminded me of those old light up toys that were essentially like plastic hair with lights at the ends but compressed into wing shapes.

I had all three of the sparkle fairies when I was younger. One or two of them came from a sale somewhere though so I think I had forgotten that they were made for fairytopia so I wasn't sure what to search for to find them. Unfortunately I do not have them anymore, I think they all eventually broke to some degree from being played with, but the lavender skirt may be laying in a barbie clothing box somewhere. Seeing them felt quite nostalgic, especially when the mini book was shown! I had forgotten about the book but seeing the pictures I remembered pretty much every page of it. Thank you.

I just remembered that my dad bought the barbie Elina of the first Fairytopia and I was so done with her wings that I plucked them out and was happy cuz I could make her anything. I never considered that to be a fairy or even an angel you needed wings 😂❤ Another thing! I still remember the Christmas that I got the Nutcracker and Clara Barbie dolls. Clara’s hair was the most beautiful of any of my Barbie’s and the elbow/knee/joint articulation was SO cool. And Prince Nutcracker Ken had real hair which was neat until his head broke off (I truly don’t remember how). I still remember acting out soap operas where one of my Barbie’s would always end up slapping his head off 😂

Barbie Fairytopia was always my all time favourite barbie movie, i still remember begging for my parents to get me the dvd of the third rainbow movie.
It is interesting you mention songs being a part of a different version of the movie, because there was meant to be a fourth movie that got cancelled! The Elina doll with the Swan Lake-esque wings, also known as Magic Lights Elina (I think?) is apparently her outfit from the film, and is one of the rarer dolls as it got quickly pulled off shelves when the movie never came out. Maybe the songs were meant to go in it!

I remember going to the Live show!!! I was very young but I loved it. I don't remember the plot but all the girlies got dressed up and had little photo sessions with barbie and bibble. I was too afraid so i don't think i participated. The show was basically the movie with a few extra songs to fill out a full 2-3 hr showtime. The cast and ensemble ate every note. The butterfly flying moment stuck with me because it was Barbie on this HUGE rolling prop with fabric wings that really flapped . I think the show ended with like a glitter and bubble shower so all the kids could jump with glee.

I'm so happy you had sections on the DVD menus and games which I feel have been a lost art. There have been many nights I would fall asleep to the menu screen after watching the movie and playing the games over and over again, it's one of the most nostolgic things to me.

You don't know how funny is the "open my shell" scene for Latino ppl. In spanish you have two dubs, the Spain dub and the Latino dub, basically the word for shell in Spain is "concha de mar" or just "concha", however, in many latino countries we use that word to mean pussy. So you can have a good idea of us watching that scene in the Spain dub and the snail saying that and then giving you that look.

All the early Barbie movies were my most precious dvds, I have so many amazing memories of watching my favorite Barbie movies and at a time I had my favorite ones completely memorized so I could watch them in my head. (Idk if that’s an autism thing or what but I fr had so many movies memorized & would watch them in my head when I was bored)

I LOVED these movies as a kid. They hold such a special place in my heart. I remember my mom used to buy me every movie and doll when they came out. I LOVED BIBBLE. He was my homie.

Am I the only person who thought this movie was really similar to Thumbelina? I mean, it stands on its own as it’s own thing, and I really love it, but especially the ending where her reward is getting wings reminds me so much of Thumbelina.

second, i knew the first fairytopia was my favorite barbie movie as a kid and i knew i was obsessed with it, but i forgot how much and seeing this with the dvd menus unlocked Memories for me
i watched this movie so often i could quote it, and one day while watching it i fell off the couch and busted my chin so hard i had to go to the hospital to get it stitched
my parents kept telling the tale of how i roleplayed the movie so hard i broke my chin for years
i did ice skating as a kid, and for my costume i got to pick whatever i wanted, so naturally i drew an outfit based on elina and begged my parents for a seamstress to make it
she didn't have pink fabric so she made it in blue but i was still happy about it, my performance song had nothing to do with barbie or fairies but i had to find a way to squeeze my hyperfixation of this movie into everything i did

I was a small child when the fairytopia stuff came out so I have vague memories of the other fairy dolls but it really seems like there was going to be another version of fairytopia and they changed it…now I’m super curious what that story was gonna be

I had the blonde main character Barbie :) most memorably the wings somehow had a fibrous texture in addition to lighting up, reminded me of those old light up toys that were essentially like plastic hair with lights at the ends but compressed into wing shapes.

Whoaaa I went to see fairytopia live & it was sooo beautiful!!! I was 7, I think. I dressed in my elina costume and it really sparked an interest in theatre production for me. I was so obsessed with fairies and still am. I def have the cd soundtrack somewhere lol.❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

I had all three of the sparkle fairies when I was younger. One or two of them came from a sale somewhere though so I think I had forgotten that they were made for fairytopia so I wasn't sure what to search for to find them. Unfortunately I do not have them anymore, I think they all eventually broke to some degree from being played with, but the lavender skirt may be laying in a barbie clothing box somewhere. Seeing them felt quite nostalgic, especially when the mini book was shown! I had forgotten about the book but seeing the pictures I remembered pretty much every page of it. Thank you.

For me the ending feels bad because her not having wings can quickly be seen as a disability in this world so to give her wings will be making her into an Able Body person and I would feel much better if I don't know the enchantress gave her like prosthetic Wings because that wouldn't feel bad because she technically is still disabled in this world only she has an aide to help her live in this world more easily

I just remembered that my dad bought the barbie Elina of the first Fairytopia and I was so done with her wings that I plucked them out and was happy cuz I could make her anything. I never considered that to be a fairy or even an angel you needed wings 😂❤

I still remember the Christmas that I got the Nutcracker and Clara Barbie dolls. Clara’s hair was the most beautiful of any of my Barbie’s and the elbow/knee/joint articulation was SO cool. And Prince Nutcracker Ken had real hair which was neat until his head broke off (I truly don’t remember how). I still remember acting out soap operas where one of my Barbie’s would always end up slapping his head off 😂
