- Here are 2 Dodge Monaco field finds we do a walkaround. One is a 67 4 door with shaved door handles and a frenched antenna, the other is a 68 convertible. In the spring time we will be doing a "Will it Run and Drive".
Love the drop top ! Full size convertibles are my favorites

The first car I remember dad having was a 68 Monaco 2door hard top. There were no marker lights on the 1967 cars. Not federally mandated until 1968

This is so much a part of my childhood/teenhood...my uncle; a WWII hero shot down over Italy; bought in the spring of 1968. I was born in 1965 but I loved his Polara. We pulled a large travel-trailer withit; went on cool trips in it; so many great memories of this Dodge. I want to build a tribute car dedicated to his WW2 service, and his internment in Stalag 17-B. I doubt I'll ever have the $$$$ to buy it but I would love to try to replicate his immaculate 1968 Dodge Polara 4 door hardtop. Please remember Alvie J Cobb. POW/MIA.....purple heart recipient. He loved God, family, and country.

Thanks for showing us the beautiful rare Dodges. The cars are"not too bad" as of now, but I hope you are doing something to try to protect them from the weather . Especially the convertible with no top.
In the spring time we are going to see if they will run. We may invest in a few tarps to cover some of the open cars.
67 is a 4 door hardtop - neat car. It seems in far better shape than the 68.

Super rare convertible as they only made the Monaco here in the states they were only polaras
We think only 468 Monaco 500 Convertibles were made in Canada.
1967 never had any side markers 1968 was the first year and they were the round markers like the 68 has and then in 69 they had rectangle markers in the front and none in the back I believe the taillight wrapped around and acted as a side marker on the monaco's anyway 1967 had no side marker on any mopar

That square box with the wire coming from it is called reverberator. It was hooked up to the radio and when you flipped the switch it caused an echo to the radio. They worked fantastic. Made you think you were in a concert hall. They were an option on most cars of the 60's.

Delta taillights and deep grille sections mark the '67 (NO side marker lights; industry-wide *as of '68* by law). '67 one of my total fave car designs! I hope you do revive both cars.

Interesting options combination. 4 Dr hardtop Monaco was fairly pricey and then a radio delete car. That’s pretty rare.

That console may be the most valuable part of either car surprised it is in as good a shape as it is considering its in a convertable.

You have the years correct. No side marker lights on cars prior to 1968.

The 4 DR is a 67. Side markers didn't start until 68. Gov't made all the manufacturers have them
You can tell the year by the tail lights. The 4 door is a 1967. The convertible is a 1968.

Ah, memories! My first car was a '68 Chrysler Newport 2-door, just a shade darker green than that convertible. Had a 383 auto in it. It sure was a boat! Just floated down the highway. Sadly, I went off a tee intersection with her and that was all she wrote. A buddy had a '67(?) Dodge Monaco 2-door (same taillights as the 4-door in the vid). I think it had the 318. It was light blue. Thanks for sharing this video!

The first Monaco is a ‘67 and it doesn’t have marker lights because they didn’t become mandatory until 1968.

Can you guys do a video on the white Dodge A100 that was beside the big rotten Pontiac I love those trucks where the engine sits right between the driver and passenger seat those trucks and vans are the best looking trucks around next to the old flat fender Power Wagons and Power giants
We will be the dodge is really bad shape i had been using it as a parts truck for the one i have been working on
Be mindful of the heat switch mounted on the firewall. They get corroded and WILL leak into the passenger floorboard. Practically nonexistent and are wire controlled from the temperature slide. And clean the wiring plus going through the firewall. Corroded contacts will burn up voltage regulators. The indicator to this is excessive charging indicated on the ammeter, and bright lights.
A shame they don't come with the AC option, the compressors are immortal.

Mopar I.D year 7th Digit in the vin is the year....I believe the convertible is a 68 and the 4dr is a 67

I love all car types and plus like one car my Uncle John had was 1974 Chrysler New Port like New Yorker but 2 door and fast 440 V8 4 barrel with 727 4 speed Automatic transmission with rare 390 rear end only bad part was 15 mpg highway and local drive only got 10 or 5 mg on fuel big fuel guzzler and car weight was 3 ton ! But fast to drive to and got big power on gas pedal thrust ! My uncle said had 80 gallon fuel tank with 10 gallon reserve for special order New remember saying that and did check up that option was true to!

Console and bucket seat frames are the same as Chrysler 300 different from charger.
The four door is in fact a 67 and the vert is a 68 for sure

The 67 Canadian Monacos were the only one to use the 318 poly the USA they had 383 and 440 only they never had a small block in the usa

I love big old boat 4 doors, but in this case, I would be willing to sacrifice that 4 door to rebuild the rag top.
I am on the fence about that. I hate rag tops, but it being very rare, maybe?
@@pennyshotrodscustoms Id say that one is rare enough to be worth it. Dont quote me on this but if memory serves me right, I read in some collectors car magazine 15+ years ago the survival rate of Mopar convertibles from the 60s was claimed to be at around 5% due to severe rust issues so if true, all these years later there would be even less of them now.
Both cars are Canadian built models. The 68 Monaco 500 convertible was not sold/ not available in the U.S. rare cars. I have a 67 Monaco 500. No sidemarkers in 67.

67 has way better tail lights --- that must be an early 67 because they stopped using that poly motor in 66

There are NO side Marker Lights on ALL the 1967 cars Dumb Dumb! Side Marker Lights didn’t come out until the following year, 1968 🙃

wheels on the 67 are not correct for that model and side marker lights were not featured on 67 models (have not been “shaved” off). beautiful tail light lenses - the wheel covers on the 68 are also not correct - they are premier wheel covers but this style wasn’t offered until several years later

Well, that I Love those big'ol boat types of Car's. Then to get the same quality thesedays you'd have too spend more money. That I've got only one motorhead friend. But he's not into big'ol boat luxury Cars.

I'm not that big into convertibles but that 68 would of been a nice car that car is the Monaco 500 with the chrome on the sides it was the highest class monaco anyway love the white interior and the console to bad the car is too far gone to really do something with it's looks like a great parts car that's about it.

Radio delete in a Mopar is rare... Most opted FOR a radio so they can drown out the sound of the damn thing rusting out as you drive. Never understood them using these wheezy polys in these land yachts. About as sensible as an Evinrude on the back of a container ship.....

Marker lights were 68. It is a good easy way to ID similar vehicles yes. Like the 67-68 camaro or firebird.... you don't have to know all the paticulars on similar styles.

For a competent fabricator and or a resourceful scrounger the cash outlay could be drastically reduced. Its all a matter of perspective as to how much their time is worth to them. Far worse has been saved and have turned out fantastic for not a lot of cash because the builder viewed time as inconsequential
The '68 can't be Monaco. You could get a convertible as a Polara or Polara 500 but not a Monaco. The console makes it a Polara 500. Someone rebadged it as a Monaco 500
The Monaco 500 convertible was only built in Canada, one of 468 built. No convertible Monaco was built in the US for that year.
