What people fail to realize (consistantly) is that in a game that is inheriently luck based, creating a situation where events that benefit you are more probable is a strategy
except thats only true when your strategy has some guaranteed benefit along with a chance to perform exceptionally well. having the former is what dictates if a strategy is actually good or just a gimmick

Well yeah, because he only plays bad players. I had a Cincinno I nicknamed the 'Slayer of Gods' due to her habit of eating legendaries. Basically, Lunala was the only one she had consistent trouble with, meaning she won 30% of those fights

@@bisharppro7776 that is an incredibly skewed and inaccurate number. If it's a 40% chance for the boost to go off after a hit that means 40 out of 100 times the boosts will go through. If that's the case, then as long as you're playing it smart and safe, you should have a decent chance. Not to mention if they're bad they don't understand the metagame, let alone more obscure tactics and counters.

Tbf, an opponent that doesn't realize the serene grace rainbow combo would look at this as an annoying and significant 10% chance going off, even with the effects, the odds weren't in Lily's favor to activate the omni boost. A lot of people just hate luck based strategies since it often feels like hacks are at play 🤔

Stuff like the pledge moves being so little known is just another reason why I kinda think it's a bad idea for them to keep making every game so heavily single battles and not at least like, half doubles stuff.
Especially when the competitive format gamefreak uses officially is doubles!
This is why they need to make more games like Colosseum and Gale of Darkness. Or maybe even remake them with updated types, Pokemon, and Move rosters.

When they introduced Doubles in Ruby/Sapphire, it blew my tiny mind. Definitely wish they'd have more of it in the main games.
They should add a colosseum in the next game. Where you can participate in tournaments against npcs or real players.

I think the combo move was a main type water while secondary of fire so water was what Cinderace became.

@@Squirtle_Squad_Supremacy Bit late to the party, but for anyone reading this in future, no. It's always supereffective type againts the other that is the end result type: fire+grass=grass+fire->fire, water+fire=fire+water->water, grass+water=water+grass->grass.

It's weird when some salty player says "No skill all luck" because there's a lot of luck involved with Pokemon. Chances of moves missing, chances of moves' second affects activating, etc

And that combined with Pokemon's already infamous impenetrablity means that even if you find out rainbow terrain exists, you'll never know what it does.

Both of those are kinda gross. Stunlocking you’re opponents’ Pokémon sounds like a great way to farm salt though. I think lily just wanted to have some silly fun boosting every stat

@@oidorite357 They are the same thing dude. The only reason mythicals have that tag is because you only get them through events. For short legendaries are pokemon already in the game with bst of 580 or higher (Lake trio as an example of 580 and Giratina with 680) while mythicals are event legendary pokemon with 600 bst or higher with some exceptions like Spiritomb, Rotom and Zoroark, who are event pokemon but not mythicals.

Apparently nobody is going to acknowledge that Rayquaza used "V-Create", Victini's signature move, that according to my research is only on Victini, and yet the opponent calls them a hacker despite having a move impossible to get without Sketch or Copycat on a Pokémon incapable of learning the move. I have no knowledge of what Showdown allows or not, but I dont think they would allow you to casually put a move on Rayquaza that it doesn't even get a chance to learn.

V-Create was an event move on Rayquaza in Gen 5 (from Japan's 15th Anniversary poll).
I love the use of ancient power, iron head & air slash with 40% chance. Togekiss can also learn tri attack to add to shenanigans lol
So for people hating on using luck base moves like ancient power. Ancient power is 60 Power, and compared to using a calm mind and then a move you have to hit with an ~85 Power non-STAB move or higher to make the better play. With a calm mind boosted attack your attack is 1.5x as powerful. So 2x60 Power moves vs 1x1.5x80 Power move but there is a 10% chance to turn it into a 60 Power and a 1.5x60 Power hit. Having defense boosts and a speed boost also makes Ancient Power more worth it. Jiraci increases it to 20% meaning anyone you outspeed in the base you have a 20% chance on the first hit and 36% chance to take reduced damage on the second hit possibly even half damage at 4% chance. Adding the rainbow takes another turn but slightly raises the power to use an alternative move 2x and boosting move but also increases the longevity of the Pokemon. If you can keep Jiraci alive and get the rainbow up then 9/10 it is better to use this. Its not as popular a strategy because all the prerequisites that have to fall in place. It reduces the number of options each turn for win conditions which means in times where it works, it is a better strategy without luck, but if put in a bad situation is not a pliable strategy.
I always love it when people think that just because they run a whole team of legendaries they can clap anyone then cry no skill and hax when it turns out legendaries aren't invincible lmao

While I don’t have any competitive Pokémon battling knowledge, at 2:00 any reason they didn’t both attack the booster Necormaza? Did they think max phantasm would end it or just wanted to finished the cat?
He probably didn't have a good move, with flying/dragon both being resisted. I doubt it would've killed at +1Def and double health from DMax on a resist.
I mean he did have V-Create, but he probably wanted to save his Rayquaza to take care of the rest of the game, being his most likely sweeper there, with V-Create crippling the user basically

Legendaries and mythicals are the same thing, in other words mythicals are legendaries. They are only tagged like that because different from legendaries (ex: Giratina, Groudon, Kyurem etc) you get them through limited events. For shorts legendaries are those Pokémon who are in the game with normally base stats of 600+ and already in the game while mythical are event Pokémon with few exceptions like Zoroark, Rotom and Spiritomb.

Interestingly, Serene Grace doesn't always stack with rainbow terrain
From what I've read, every time it was asked, it was about Air Slash, but here's what is written on Smogon:
This Pokemon's moves have their secondary effect chance doubled. This effect stacks with the Rainbow effect, except for secondary effects that cause the target to flinch.
In other words, no it won't work for Air Cutter, but it sure will work on Ancient Power.

Having looked into Rainbow befor I'm afraid to inform you it dosen't stack with Serene Grace so Jirachi still only gets a 20% Ancient Power, If that wasn't the case we could guarantee flinches with Serene Grace

but rainbow doesn't affect flinches, so you're right that 100% flinch chance isn't possible

@@connorcadaver1219 I was running Serene Grace Coil Blizzard/Rock Slide Dunsparce in Double under Trick Room with Oranguru Instruct, I'd imagine it's harder to set everything up with Rainbow but it offers the highest possible Freeze chance, Being 87% to get at minimum one freeze

AV diancie with the guaranteed defense boosts is honestly kind of scary in gen 9. Tera poison gets rid of the quad weakness to steel and grants immunity to toxic, meaning Diancie can become nigh immortal with support from the team.
Dang. Thought the last one would at least get a pass for not being toxic. Done did them dirty post-match.
An ability that creates rainbow terrain automatically would be a really cool ability for Ho-Oh. Both because Ho-Oh's Pokedex entries mention that it can create rainbows, and because rainbow terrain would let Sacred Fire burn 100% of the time.

If I’ve learned anything from Temp6t and your videos, it’s that when you see a weird team makeup, the correct response isn’t ridicule, but to figure out what kind of weirdness they’re planning to warrant a Sunkern or Lechonk or whatever on their team.
