I have went from a complete night owl to waking up at 6 am every morning. The key for me was 1thing: PLEASURE. I had to find pleasure in waking up and going to bed both. So I scheduled reading and Tea time for myself in the morning which required me to wake up earlier but I love it and was willing to get up for it. For going to bed I redecorated my room, bought cute pajamas, and began turning down my bed after my shower and laying out my reading material on the night stand along with my water. This worked for me. If you can find pleasure in the act your wanting to achieve you won’t just do it you will love doing it!
Summary: 1 Have a reason to wake up early 2 Have water 3 Protect your sleep 4 Tie an action to your wake-up 5 Get an accountability partner 6 Create a challenge of a certain duration
I'm like.. Between an actual morning person and a wannabe morning person. What I do sometimes if I'm REALLY not into waking up at that particular point of my life is I'll pretend someone else. Someone I admire and sort of pep talk myself into meeting their "standards" or like smth like.. "K you wanna meet them? Or Be like them? Then Prove it can you meet that standard?" But I'd have to really love then and being a teen I think that's pretty easy to find lol
I did wake up at 5 am for a while, but I didn't find that I got a lot a lot more done. I just pushed my usual activities back a couple of hours. One thing I am finding that helps me get more done, though is spending less time on my phone, including not using it for the first hour, at least, after I get up.
Phones are the biggest killer for productivity hey! I reckon I spend hours and hours per week on it just scrolling when I could be working towards things I love.
I tried to do it in increments. I tried to wake up 30 minutes earlier each day. And my motivation was my skin care routine, I wanted enough time to do my new routine and not be late for work. That has helped me tremendously.
I don't wake up quite as early as you do, but my tip is to plan a good breakfast for every morning. I don't know about anyone else but I'll jump right out of bed for nice food lol
Top tips .. my time is reversed so I am just going to sleep now .. 6.30 am .. But My tip for getting up & going to do something is .. make absolutely sure as much as possible .. everything is ready for the specific task . eg I get my bike ready pointed at the door .. socks in shoes .. nothing to do but get out there & go .. plus I actually love it when no one else is about .. the few people I do meet we all kind of just nod .. as if the dawn chorus in the Forest is sacred not to be disturbed by speech .. & equally towels & stuff ready for return & straight in the shower etc .. it's October already .. yeah Autumn Vibes ..
I tie my wake up to my shower. I pop out of bed and jump right into the shower. My husband goes next and I give our daughter her 530 am snooze. We are working this like clockwork. Thank you for validating our method. Love the eyeshadow!!
I was getting up early to do my bible study but after I read the entire bible I got a real FT job. When I say real .. I was working as a scientist at start up companies where I could work from home or make my own hours . Now I work at a biotechnology corporation and I have to work on site a LOT! So getting up at 5 yikes... but now I can get up early and get back to bible study, my new goal...giving the Lord the first part of my day 🙏😀✝️
The app Alarmy has really helped me! I set it up so that I need to walk to the kitchen and take a photo of my oven for the alarm to be turned off. And your makeup looks so good! Pink eyeshadow is very flattering on you 😘
You are my *life saver* . You literally made me wake up! And what's the best part? I woke up with a big smile on my face and a huge satisfaction! I read at night, woke up and had warm honey water. Wrote my morning pages and drank coffee and then i studied!! You got me what i wanted! I love this! Thank you for everything!
I'm putting these into effect now!! I've been having a hard time the last couple of months, and just joined a gym, so I'm really excited to get going again! Thanks for the help Amy, can't wait to conquer the world!!!
I have been obsessed with your videos for the past 2 days and I can't stop watching them!!! Thank you so much for all the wonderful advice that I'm going to try to incorporate into my life.
Yes! I agree! I have to wake up at 5 for school and my crazy commute but I’m naturally a night person so thinking of it as a “just for now , not the rest of my life” is so helpful!!!
Ohio here & wearing a warm sweater too :) It’s important to realize that hitting the snooze just starts the day out failing before you even get out of bed. Nobody’s got time for that
Great advice! The morning hours are soooo precious. As a retail store manager, sometimes I get 3-5 texts or emails by 7:00am! My world is quietest at 4am.
I've tried waking up early on and off for years but have never lasted more than a week. After watching your first video, I gave it another shot and I'm now 2 months in and haven't missed a weekday! I've tied my 'why' to being able to get to the gym each day after work (something I've never been able to leave work early enough to do) by being able to tick work tasks off my to-do list when I first wake up. I put my phone right near my bathroom which helps me with achieving my first 'action' - I hit the alarm then zombie-walk straight into my shower. Once I'm showered, there's no way of heading back to bed!
I LOVE watching the non-sponsored videos!!! They are always more refreshing and entertaining, though a recommendation (sponsored video) is also nice to watch from time to time. The make-up for this one is stellar! Makes me think of the holiday season around the corner!
I just finished filiming me waking up at 6am and it helped keep me accountable so well! Without scheduling it, without giving myself rewards as soon as I woke up, I found I didn't have motivation. Oh, and going to bed late. Biiiiiigggest killer. It is the biggest thing I need to improve on. I love how you said to have a goal during that time and scheduling it. It's so true. Without a plan, you plan to fail. ALSO - eyeshadow - ON FLEEK. Big fan of the eyeshadow! xx
I have NEVER used the snooze button. I love the morning. That’s when I’m most productive. I have incorporated the lemon water into my morning routine. ALL is good with that. What works for me is a healthy morning ritual. Meditation, outdoors if possible, is key to sharpening my focus. I love your advice. I usually find a gem in each one THanks
Hi Amy! I'm watching this video and now it's 5 am! I started waking up early thanks to your videos as I went back to school, since two week. Today, maybe because it's a cold Monday morning, I felt like I needed a bit of motivation, so I switched on my phone and I saw your notification. Perfect. Thank you so so much and lots of love from Italy! 💕
Thank you for sharing these tips! Very helpful as always! 🙌 I really don't know what my life would look like at the moment if I had not found your channel.
I have always been a late bird, and one of the first videos I watched of yours was on how to get up at 5:30am. I have been motivated to get my day started early by putting it in my head that my morning is starting the night before, and your interview with Mel Robbins didn’t hurt either. Thank you for all your motivation, very inspiring!!
I am a morning person but living with the nocturnal friends has thrown off my internal clock. Waking up no later than 8am and going straight to yoga, making the bed, and drinking a glass of water is working for me. I'm actually writing a book about it. I plan to reward myself along the way as my body and mind adjust. Loving your makeup look today!
Thank you for the tips, Amy! I'll definitely use them! One early morning secret that is helping me a lot is to create a "Waking Up Early Challenge" for 45 days (I don't remember where I read that to create a habit you have to do it for 45 days so that it becomes automatic). So what I do is I set a reminder with the message "Day #1 of Waking Up Early Challenge" for the time I have to wake up, so that when the alarm goes on I get to see the reminder and just get up! And then, I cross out the days on my calendar to make sure I stay motivated. It works for me, hopefully it'll work for someone else too!
Good morning from Sweden...! Just woke up (7 am) and I'm trying to build the habit of waking up at this time every day. Your videos really help, and this made me motivated not to go back to my warm cosy bed..😴 thank you!
The thing I find the hardest is to come up with a goal that can't be postponed. I'm really good at finding excuses to sleep in and I end up going to bed super late to compensate 😅 Also, loving your makeup ❤❤
My vacation schedule has totally messed up my going to bed / getting up early... this week's priority is getting back on track, thanks for the inspiration!
I love this! I did morning pages for a while & stopped. I want to start them again & incorporate it into the Last 90 Days Challenge I’m participating in starting today. Your eyeshadow color is the bomb!
I teach online early mornings, so that's my motivation to get up early! 😂 I have found that I need to schedule some me time in the morning to be at my best, so I use one class to force me out of bed, then get some me time so I'm refreshed and ready to teach the rest of my classes for the morning!
I really needed this right now, Amy! Been really struggling with this lately and needed the encouragement. ALSO, love the rearrangement and pop of color in you office, and GIRL that eyeshadow!! 👌🏻 Thank you for always being such a great encourager for me to always go after the life I want ❤️
You have been the most helpful when it comes to waking up at 5AM. I would like to have a video where you talk about the books that someone should definitely read. E.g. Books to read when you're 20
i love the new view, and your makeup is lovely, for the past 3 nights, I've got ready for bed when I've put my kids to bed (8pm) took a shower, got pjammas on and got in bed and read my book, and for once I'm actually struggleing to read past 3 pages, my eyes start falling asleep, I start dropping the book, so I decide I'm going to go to sleep, I have an alarm that goes off at 9:15PM to tell me to go to sleep and I've been beating it and it feels so good :)
yes, the office redo looks good. an early riser usually, but interesting topic. thanks. goals in mind. centered on the best of life from the beginning with less distractions to start
This is great! I definitely loved the part of thinking this is just now, not the rest of your life. Makes it feel a lot less daunting for sure. & aligned with the well I don't have anything specific to do... So I can sleep that extra hour and still get everything done. Going to try to use your advice to combat those tendencies!!
I've been doing it for two weeks now! Thanks for this video, because I really needed a reminder that this is working for me, now that it's a Friday night and I could sleep in tomorrow. But I have been waking up at 5:30 on Saturday and Sunday...my sleep stays much more stable if I continue through the weekends.
I have tried a majority of the tips that you've recommended today (and in your other videos), some rare days I am successful in waking up earlier than usual. I allow myself to hit my snooze button 2 out of the usual 5 times. After the 2nd one goes off and before the 3rd one I try to get myself up. Sometimes this works, but lately, it hasn't been. I make a list of things I want to accomplish the next day, or I set my coffee maker to go off at the time I want to get up, but even though I smell the coffee wafting throughout my apartment, I fall back to sleep and get up to cold wasted coffee... I have found no tried and true tested ways to pull myself up out of the comfort of my bed on a regular/consistent routine. It's so random when it does happen, and no matter how much I try to think about what I did the night before to make getting up early successful, it doesn't always do it for me... Like, tonight for example, I have a friend who's coming to visit me for the weekend and I planned to get up at 8 am this morning to get some tidying/cleaning done thinking that should fuel my desire to get up... but I slept until 10:30 am and it is now 11:45am, and all I've done is make my bed and eat my breakfast! Two days ago I joined a gym, and yesterday I made it my goal to get there by 8 am. I got a membership where I get to bring a friend with me, so I had arranged the night before with her that I would pick her up around 7:45/8. I didn't get to her house till shortly after 9 and finally got on the gym floor by 9:30/45. Had planned to workout for an hour, but it turned into 2, we were both so happy, and I had researched the foods I was supposed to consume 30-60 minutes after my workout to aid in my recovery... I didn't even end up going home afterward, and really never ate... And I ended up feeling like crap, had a mild headache behind my eyes but when I finally DID feel better, instead of going to bed at a decent hour, I watched RUclips encouragement videos until 1 am-ish... I just suck at being productive! No matter what I try to do, I seem to fail epically! :( How do I combat these? Actually. :(
Amy! Thnk you SO MUCH for your tips, always have been strugling to get up to bed early and fail D: just putting my alarm(phone) in other room and make myself get up to turn it off was THE BEST TIP EVER. Felling the cold help me chosing to stay awake and use my morning time :D THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU
First up, I have become a huge fan of your tips - I have changed several of my habits for the better in the past two months because of these videos, so thank you for that. One thing I want to note for you and others who are thinking about adding the lemon water routine: I loved it and did it every day for two months. I paired it with washing any remaining dishes in the sink, so that I accomplished something right after I got up. At first I was worried about my teeth's daily exposure to the citric acid, but I take very good care of my teeth, and they seemed fine. I didn't consider the effect on my gums. My gums around my lower front teeth started stinging a few days ago. While I haven't confirmed the cause with my dentist, it seems to me the daily lemon juice is the most clear change in my habits that could have caused it. I am hopeful that if I cut out the lemon juice now, my gums will heal quickly (no visible damage). I believe from your videos that this has not come up for you, Amy, though I think it's important that others consider this possibility before trying it, or at least reconsider whether they make it a daily routine. I am still drinking a full glass of water (sans lemon) every morning, which is really the point and a great routine. Thank you very much for reading!
I used to struggle to get up but then I adopted a cat, better than any alarm clock. He likes his breakfast at 5am so it's a joy to get up and start the day with him.
I resisted putting my phone in another room, because I didn't want it to wake up my parents. But I finally started doing that and let me tell you, the whole 'I need to turn this off before it wakes everyone up' jolt I've been getting the last few mornings really helps me stay up.
Well. It wasn’t before the sun but it was before the sun started coming over the roofs & through the windows.... enough time to enjoy my coffee and breakfast in peace. I’ll try for earlier tomorrow. Hopefully I’ll get there. Thanks for the motivation to actually try it this time 😉
I have a really strong circadian rhythm so I was able to wake up earlier than the sunrise by getting an alarm clock that uses a light that gradually gets brighter to wake me up. It’s still has the sound alarm but often the light is enough to tell my brain to get up. Turning on lights and being near windows once the sun has risen are what keep me from crawling back under the covers
I was going to try waking up early for a week from today. Failed, but it was probably not the best idea to start today, a public holiday in Sydney. Also last night was the first time trying to transition my toddler from a cot to bed. It went well but there were a few times I had to get up during the night for her so I’ve cut myself some slack this morning. I will set my alarm for 5am tomorrow 👊
I had the same idea while watching this. Thanks! Now I know there's more of us bookworms :)
Great ideas!
This actually sounds like it might work for me too :) Thanks!
Stealing your great ideas!

I get this!!!! I was without my phone for 24 hours this weekend, and I got so much more done
I'm thinking about filming a social media cleanse for a whole week. I am scared to say the least. hahah
this makeup look really suits you!
I tried to do it in increments. I tried to wake up 30 minutes earlier each day. And my motivation was my skin care routine, I wanted enough time to do my new routine and not be late for work. That has helped me tremendously.
Increments is SUCH a good idea. I haven't been doing that. Thank you for your helpful tip!
I don't wake up quite as early as you do, but my tip is to plan a good breakfast for every morning. I don't know about anyone else but I'll jump right out of bed for nice food lol

Actually your make up was distracting me more than the rearranged office! 😂😍 Love it!
Lolol
Her eyeshadow was so gorgeous, I legit kept thinking about how to recreate it 😅
I tie my wake up to my shower.
So getting up at 5 yikes... but now I can get up early and get back to bible study, my new goal...giving the Lord the first part of my day 🙏😀✝️
Amen girl
The app Alarmy has really helped me! I set it up so that I need to walk to the kitchen and take a photo of my oven for the alarm to be turned off.
And your makeup looks so good! Pink eyeshadow is very flattering on you 😘
That's hysterical/brilliant! I love it! 😂🖤🖤🖤
lmao thank u so much for this tip! I just downloaded alarmy & I feel like my life is transforming already lol
You are my *life saver* . You literally made me wake up! And what's the best part? I woke up with a big smile on my face and a huge satisfaction! I read at night, woke up and had warm honey water. Amy you are looking fabulous today! Loving that new eye shadow! And... Thanks for all of the tips here ;)

I have been obsessed with your videos for the past 2 days and I can't stop watching them!!! Thank you so much for all the wonderful advice that I'm going to try to incorporate into my life.
It took me forever to start waking up early but it is the only time I have to myself so that was a big incentive to start.
Yes! I agree! I have to wake up at 5 for school and my crazy commute but I’m naturally a night person so thinking of it as a “just for now , not the rest of my life” is so helpful!!!

It's 9:45 pm and I was just about to get back to work. Then you talked about going to bed when you were tired and inspired me to just shut it down. 💜
Great advice! The morning hours are soooo precious. As a retail store manager, sometimes I get 3-5 texts or emails by 7:00am! My world is quietest at 4am.
Just love the all pink blend in this video.
You're reading my RUclips mind, I've been binging on "waking up early" videos just today, then this! THANK YOU!

Good morning from Sweden...! Just woke up (7 am) and I'm trying to build the habit of waking up at this time every day. Your videos really help, and this made me motivated not to go back to my warm cosy bed..😴 thank you!
These tips are so helpful but also you back ground is literal GOALS I’m obsessed 😍
Your makeup looks so beautiful in this video!! That eyeshadow is just gorgeous!
The thing I find the hardest is to come up with a goal that can't be postponed. I'm really good at finding excuses to sleep in and I end up going to bed super late to compensate 😅

YES! Yes, that's me! I've literally watched all your videos on waking up early and I CAN'T. SEEM. TO DO IT!!!
I love this! I did morning pages for a while & stopped. I want to start them again & incorporate it into the Last 90 Days Challenge I’m participating in starting today.
Your eyeshadow color is the bomb!
Love watching and rewatching these videos!
I am loving your make up Amy! Sending love from Scotland 🏴💕
Love your relatability and humor! So great

LaShonna Bahr me too!

Good luck with your 30 day challenge!! What are you doing to keep yourself accountable to that? I'm very inspired! xo
Loving your hair and makeup. Thank you so so much for your advice, Amy! ❤️
I am in love with my mornings! It was hard to start though lol. Don't give up!

Yeah berry tones look reallg nice on her. She looks really happy too
@@ImJustShayeB totally!!! I need better on camera makeup I think haha🙌
The coffee maker. That Goddess makes the sweetest elixre to get me up super early to go running before work.

Love the sticky note hack!
What a brilliant mind hack. It’s not forever.. it’s a campaign or a challenge. I like to think of habit changes as experiments.
Great tips, Amy! I love how you do your jump cuts. Very tight and keeps the pace up. 😀👊
can you do a video on how your curl your hair? it's super cute!
Yeees i want that video too
Your eye makeup looks gorgeous!!!!!!!!
Actually. :(
Up at 5:30 this morning bc of your videos! Just started watching you and can’t wait to try all of this....well not super excited about the 5:30 thing!

Amy! Thnk you SO MUCH for your tips, always have been strugling to get up to bed early and fail D: just putting my alarm(phone) in other room and make myself get up to turn it off was THE BEST TIP EVER. Felling the cold help me chosing to stay awake and use my morning time :D THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU
Great tips. And love your make up. So pretty!
Your makeup is amazing! And I love your advice
I had the same problem with the lemon water, but after i started to gargle with water after drinking the lemon water, I had no more problems with it.
Omg this video came at the perfect time!! I have just started trying to wake up earlier!
Once we get this baby sleeping RIGHT I'll be excited to find my morning me time again! Thanks for this video 😍😍
I like how you matched your eyeshadow with the pink box. You should put a bright green box there next time.
I used to struggle to get up but then I adopted a cat, better than any alarm clock. He likes his breakfast at 5am so it's a joy to get up and start the day with him.
im getting right into the wake-up early challenge tmr!! thx for the motivation n inspiration!! love u
I resisted putting my phone in another room, because I didn't want it to wake up my parents. But I finally started doing that and let me tell you, the whole 'I need to turn this off before it wakes everyone up' jolt I've been getting the last few mornings really helps me stay up.
Amy, I know about Morning pages, but would YOU show us how you do yours??
Fantabulous make up Amy! :) I feel I literally self-sabotage myself all the time... would you make a video about that?
i am in love with this video
"You DO know your name" cackling. Discovered your channel yesterday and I've been crazy binge watching.
Amy! Amazing tips ❤️ plus I looove your makeup today
You're wearing colored eyeshadow?! THE BLEND! It looks great!
Well. It wasn’t before the sun but it was before the sun started coming over the roofs & through the windows.... enough time to enjoy my coffee and breakfast in peace. I’ll try for earlier tomorrow. Hopefully I’ll get there. Thanks for the motivation to actually try it this time 😉
You are hilarious! I love your personality! Thank you for the tips, you go girl!!
Girl, you see right through me ❤❤
your makeup looks soo pretty! 😻
