@@RipstopbytheRoll I wanted to get into making small ripstop bags similar to what would be sold for toiletries at a store like REI, also after watching this channel some more I am intrigued by smaller wallet designs. I’ve used Chums brand keychain wallets (sort of nylon/rip stop)for three years now and in just the time I’ve owned them I’ve had to replace two, the quality is so low and has dropped significantly in the past year, making me want to make my own.

The part about the zipper gusset doesn’t make sense and there’s not enough continuous shots to understand what we’re looking at. You mention a hoop but it’s not clear what that means.
Great video, and a nice kit. My only feedback would be to ditch, or swap out, the music. I love the tutorials, the podcast, buy almost all my fabric from y'all....but that music has got to go, please.😂
Just finished my first packing cube. I’m an experienced sewer but not with much zipper tape. A tip: make one side of the zipper tape longer so that way one side can have the zipper pull on the longer side secure, then pull in the shorter side. I made the mistake of making them the same length then jamming the zipper pull on both sides at the same time. I wanted to kill myself! It took me 30 minutes to get it on! Once I made one side short it was much easier!
@@RipstopbytheRoll thanks. I’m on my second packing cube in the 3 pack and having trouble with the second zipper pull. I have to laugh because 1st one went on very easily. Though I’m short, I have wide thick fingers. Tiny things are challenging for me, but I like making stuff. I do take it all in stride.
Isaac likes to use tweezers for a few different things. The primary use is for re-threading the needle. You can also use them to adjust your pattern piece on the throat plate, pull out little threads from the seam, etc.
Why do you not include more specific instructions about seam sealing? Why use waterproof fabric if you don't seam seal the seams? How do you seam seal zippers? The instructions are great, but lacking in detail. ... devil is in the details, and the details are what I am looking for. I enjoy watching what you provide, but there is SO MUCH detail missing.
Thanks for watching and for your questions. You touched on some really good points there. Finishing the seams is optional. For many kit projects it won't affect the final product. We don't go over finishing the seams for the packing cube because it makes the project more complex. The kits designed to be approachable projects for DIYers to improve their skills. If you're confident in your making then binding the seams is awesome! But not crucial. As for seam sealing, we have a separate video that talks about how to do this and when. The fabric used here is MONOLITE which is a mesh so there's no seam sealing needed 😊. Other waterproof projects will vary. Many people use a waterproof zipper to make their bag splash proof but no coil zipper is truly waterproof. I want to make sure that your point is well received. We could certainly do more skills videos to help round out the information on the kits. Hope this helps! Thanks again for helping is grow.

Very good tutorial. There wasn't many lessons taught like this when I started sewing. I had to watch a lot of granny videos back then. Thanks.
Thanks for watching and for your kind words!
Today I thought: I want to look into making my own ripstop gear, then later found this awesome channel. Thanks!
LOVE IT! What are you looking to make?

Oh man! Sorry to hear about your troubles. Congrats on the packing cube. And shout out to you for the resilience.

Thank you for the video! What is the intended seam allowance? I'd love if this was noted clearly in the description for reference.
Hi! Thanks for watching for the tutorial video. That's a great question. The intended seam allowance is 1/4".
At what point do the tweezers come into use?
