Yoko found a tape that said :for Paul. Its all about the shared life of those boys, then men, then missed loved ones. It's a song because they connect that way. It's a covenant of love. The remaining beatles are in their 80s. They've known each other since they were children. My friend and I were were 4 when we heard the Beatles and played Beatles. We're in our mid 60s. Every memory we have has a musical backdrop of the Beatles. This song works for our love covenant too.

I actually envy you. Curious, did you hear the previous versions and John's demo beforehand?

The Beatles have always been goofy and cheesy because they never gave a fuck about what was fashionable or not. That's why they reached absolute genious, they never were afraid of that lack of style or they would have become The Doors or Led Zeppelin. Yesterday, Imagine, Ob la di ob la da are over cheesy songs created by men who never gave an absolute f.. of what the era asked from them. Being absolutely true to yourself is the best way to reach greatness, and this is exactly what we're missing today with overproduced songs with perfect mixes, calculated imagery and products whose sole purpose is to not be able to be criticized by the masses. So for me, this is a true Beatles song and music video.

Yes they have been goofy but the difference is this wasn't goofy it was just badly made. If you liked it cool, I wish I liked the video. Compare this to the Glass Onion video which looked amazing.

@@PaulMelia No I can't say that I like it. I find it cheesy too, especially the videoish shot with Macca and Ringo singing in the studio. I agree with you about almost everything you've said. But on the other hand, I know it's the Beatles DNA. They were able to write Come Together, Something and the abomination Maxwell silver Hammer on the same album. So this video, IMHO, doesn't betrays the Beatle's spirit. They've always been kind of crazy and totally not self conscious.

@@zaziou711 I get you. It's a shame they didnt get someone to make a more fitting video.

@@PaulMelia You can't really refuse Peter Jackson lol.. especially after all he's done for the Beatles lately. And behind this average product, there are still some very moving moments in it. I know that film directors, even the greatest, are usually poor music video directors, but they know how to produce some emotions.

This song has got so many emotions in it that I'm personally caught off guard with your reaction. To me this song seems has it was written for me . Lost my . Mother and my Dad and my son Tommy when he was 24 and I also lost my Daughter Misty at only 3and ahalf so this song is pretty personal to me. Tommy from Nashville Tennessee

This version was good but it was repetitive and I was also bummed they removed the prechorus. Also Paul's bass was too aggressive during the verse imo. Shouldve kept it simple then had fun in the chorus. What also sucks is they pulled all the other versions off youtube right when this official version came out. Some guy made a orignal Lennon version with AI pulling his voice and it was amazing but they blocked it.

Yeah, I heard that version a few days ago, that sucks they pulled it. I thought like yourself, it sounded cool.

I enjoyed the video, but the actual song is very mediocre. This song, along with the Anthology singles are not canon, in my opinion. This reeks of nothing more than a cash-grab, because the fans will buy every vinyl variant of the single and Red and Blue albums. Heck, McCartney III had 5000 different versions available. It's a poor way for one of the greatest legacy bands to take advantage of a captive audience that will purchase anything. Paul and Ringo will not be around in a few years, so I guess enjoy what was created, but it's still not a definitive Beatles song in my book.

You know I actually really love Real Love and Free as a Bird. I get not everyone does but I like them alot. There is defo alot of cash grabbing with regard to the price of the reissues, shocking what they are charging.

No wonder George said its not good enough. It just doesn't have the magic. It's very sterile. And I am a total Beatles obsessive. Paul and Ringo didn't need to do this. It is great to hear anything Beatles as they bring good vibes but this song should have stayed as a John piano and vocal only. It's classic mid 70s Lennon but it's not Beatles if you know what I mean. Real Love is a better song in my book. But each tiotheir own. If you dig it then by all means enjoy it with peace and love!

I think they really could have done more with it but alas they didn't. I hear you about it being Lennon track. It is what it is. I like it but just feel it could have been done better.
