- In today’s episode of the “Word on Fire Show,” we focus on Christ the King. The first words out of Jesus’ mouth-and the central theme of his preaching-concerned the kingdom of God. In light of the recent Solemnity of Christ the King, I explore three dimensions of his unique kingship. A listener asks if God is love, and love is an act of the will, is God reducible to will?

That would be interesting as it's the oldest dated book in the Bible. I'd like to hear the Catholic take on it.

Yes please deeper into Job...I am feeling like Job again. The closer I try to get to practice my Faith, I am blocked repeatedly. Please...and thank you Bsp Barron, you give me hope when I get discouraged and even feel despair. I am so grateful...it is my son's birthday and I hope he can find his place as a baptized Catholic someday. Do I choose my Faith and face immediate short term homelessness or shelter life??

There is no left, no right, no middle...there is only Catholic.
Can I humbly ask you a question?
I am having difficulty with all different denominations.
Every one seems to think they are the right one when even the Catholics have different sects.
I know that a disciple said one says that he is from Apollo another Cepheus, is this referring to different denominations?
Also Protestant denominations don't believe that Mary is the holy spirit.
And when I think about it if the holy spirit came down on Pentecost, if Mary was still alive how could it be her?
Also the Bible refers to the holy spirit as a he or masculine deity.
Or in the book of Jhon chapter 1 it says the holy spirit is "it".
It seems that all denominations have something to offer but also something to reject.
I believe that young people are so confused by all the difference and not many churches are in a hurry to bring new people in or go and make disciples as asked.
It takes 2 years I believe for a average sinner to be accepted into the church.
Are Christians more worried about traditions Today than just getting people in and believing no matter what the outside appearance of a person is?

Some priests and parishes say it's ok to be gay and are practicing it.
Basically there are some who agree with the Pope and others don't.
No one seems to have clarity.
And when young people see elders do something or teach something they then pick the easier path for themselves.
As far as I can see there is a shizim brewing again with young people throwing idols into the Tiber river and there is also a militant group of Catholics rising.
Everyone is divided on everything from doctrine to the shape of the earth, basically everyone is divided on every subject you can imagine.
I believe that the priests who did all bad things and taught it should have been removed long ago until they repented, but then they were kept in and like I said as young people see they judge or do.
Now it seems like it's getting to the point where the militant or resistance movement will basically rise and there will be no forgiveness of sins .
Like how the German people were mostly confessing Christians and then turned into Nazis.
Even protestants are divided on everything.
And it seems like the Catholic people who want truth are becoming the "new protestants"
Protesting against the teachings of the hierarchy.
Young people need clarity love , grace , mercy and sound doctrine or they are going to reject anything Christian.
My spirit is grieving and so is the majority of young I believe.
Truth is the foremost thing we all need.

@@stevenmcginty3079 your questions are searching and beautiful. I am not a theologian. My knowledge is too shallow to answer them. Please continue to search for answers. All religions are human institutions. Faith in the Christ as Redeemer and King of the universe is Christianity. Christians follow the words of the Christ. We stumble and fall a lot Still we believe Christ who is God is crazy in love with us, these little globs of space and time. God keeps persuing us. He loves us.
Catholics believe in revealed Truth, i.e. the Bible, and Tradition. The Roman Tradition and the Eastern Tradition believe the same things. In the past a human problem with language and power created the separation you hear about. Both Traditions believe in the trinitarian nature of the one God. Both Traditions believe the Holy Ghost is EQUAL to the Father and the Son in all aspects. The Roman Tradition uses these words about the Holy Ghost in their creedal statement of faith, "...who proceeds from the Father and the Son". The Eastern Tradition does not use those words. When the Eastern and Roman Traditions are celebrating together, the Roman Tradition refrains from using that phrase.
Protestants are the result of efforts to reform the human religious institution. In the reform process they proclaimed ONLY Revealed Truth, i.e. the Bible, has authority. They removed Tradition from the structure of the religious institution. How one worships God became an individual Enterprise. The act of Holy Communion for Protestants became a symbolic act. For all the Catholic Traditions it is a sacrament and the real body and blood of Jesus the Christ is present in the bread and wine.
Mary is NOT the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit conceived the Christ in Mary's womb. Mary is/was a human being.
May God's face shine on you. May God's grace rain down on you. May God be kind to you and give you peace.

'Rights & Responsibilities' misconstrues the leftwing-rightwing paradigm as obligations To & From. Instead, consider it as, Protections & Powers of the Leftwing of the Dove & Rightwing of the Hawk, respectively. Responsibilities are inherent in one whom has power. The question for such a person is the right application of authority as understood through the biblical realization of The Saviour as image & word (the word apparent). Protections are indeed for the sheep, and Christ makes guaruntees to them, but more importantly, protection is given to those that the sheep themselves give sanctuary to, as this is the actualized realization of Christ's promise, and the foundation upon which the power & authority of The Word rests.

The quote on Love is an act of will.... where is that? My daughter wants to use it in a paper and we can't find where it actually is, just several places quoting it without reference.
Yeas, the father is the king of kings. As he is they're father. Jesus is Adam. As he said that in Mathew chapter 23v 8and 9. He said that. He is the first and the last. As his DNA lives in us. We have our physical body from Adam and Eve.
Our Spirit body is from Jesus, he is the same son of God as Adam and Jesus. He is the father of the human race. Not just one religion or government. He is the father Adam.
As a complement to the establishment of Christ The King to indicate to Hitler etc., that Jesus is the all powerful Ruler, shouldn’t we give recognition to Christ Educator?

The Father and the Son are the Parents of the Holy Spirit, if many churches are correct. The Trinity is a Family-- two Parents and a Progeny, if many churches are correct.In the Book of Job which is part of the bible,the Lord is compared to a father and also a mother with a womb. "From whose womb comes the ice? Who gives birth to the frost from the heavens"--Job 38:29. What is written in this paragraph (before this sentence) is compatible with Catholic Church doctrine. Saying that the "Father and the Son are the Parents of the Holy Spirit" is simply another way of saying that the Holy Spirit "proceeds from the Father and the Son" which has been official Catholic Church teaching for centuries. According to the Catholic Church, the Son is begotten from the Father. If this is true, the Father is the Father (Parent) of the Son. According to the Church, the Holy Spirit proceeds from the Father and the Son.If this is true, the Father and the Son are the Parents of the Holy Spirit. Of course, the scriptures are vague if the Holy Spirit is the 3rd or 1st or 2nd Person of the Trinity--whichever of these is true,the First Person and the Second Person may be the Parents of the Third.
