Some of these suits are really cute for first attempts! My first ‘suit’ if you can call it that was meant as a Halloween costume and made of a ski mask, floral foam, and duct tape…..was supposed to be a dragon but doesn’t really resemble that. My first furred suit however was a fluffy dragon and actually turned out cute! I still love her tho she’s a little derpy. :3
My first suits weren't furry - for two of them, they weren't supposed to be furry (one was supposed to be a skin-tight spacesuit for a Mass Effect quarian, the other was supposed to be a dragon), and for the other two, I didn't dare. Honestly, I do have a *ton* of fur fabric hanging around that I could totally try to make a fursuit out of.

@@bolodecenoura2082 Haha no, the second one was made using actual fursuit making techniques, following tutorials and all. She actually looks decent, just the sewing isn’t the best so there’s some holes and the paws are a bit crunchy with hot glue. I don’t even call the first one a fursuit because I wasn’t even involved in the fandom at the time. I’m working on my third rn and she is coming along great!
Honestly I would love for my suits to be rated by Skye she is literally so wholesome

I'm still drawing concept art so i haven't gotten any clay or plastic materials yet until i know what i want. you seem farther along than me. whats you're sona? if you don't mind me asking?

My grandmother unknowingly made my first fursuit for me in 6th grade, it was a quadsuit of a black horse with silver eyes. Like we put gum wrappers for the eyes. Amazing I love my grandma

The fursuit head in the back
IS STARING INTO MY SOUL
I don't have a fursuit yet, but I can tell you my first fursona. It was a gray Protogen with blue leds on it's visor. It was a very basic looking Protogen. It had two cat ears and no special features making it a common Protogen.
My next sona was basically my first fursona except it was a Protogen dragon hybrid. It still had blue leds on the visor and it was the same gray Protogen but just with longer ears, her name was Spark
My next fursona (I used to change fursonas a lot back then) was an uncommon Protogen dragon hybrid with rainbow markings on its fur and rgb leds on the visor. (This was when I discovered I liked having my fursonas look like gaming pcs) it had four long ears making it an uncommon Protogen.
The sona after that (Yes I had that many sonas) was the same protogen as before except minus being a Protogen. It was a black and rainbow dragon with long fur.
For the next sona I went back to being an rgb gaming Protogen but this time I had a joystick on one thigh and a keyboard on the other
At one point in time I made an all rainbow Protogen made of slime. It's name was Glowstick
I eventually mustered up the courage to make an illegal Primagen. It's black and rainbow with rgb leds on the visor and head fins. Her name is Glitchy
Edit: I have learned to be more respectful to species creators and now follow the rules of character creation and customization. I will no longer make OCs that do not follow species rules and will no longer make characters out of closed species if not given permission. I apologize for my previous selfish behaviors. My current Fursona is a dark brown Swamp Wickerbeast named Akuma.
I don’t have a fursuit but my sona is a light blue rabbit that looks like a toy and has like splotches of dark blue and orange on it, one of the two ears is standing up and has like a washing line clip attached to it
It's really inspiring to see how resourceful these people are with their materials. These furry suits/heads and/or paws are really good considering it's their first attempt. They worked hard and no matter how it turned out, they still at least made an effort and probably learned a lot in the process.
I would rate sky's fursuit rn a infinite amount of likes it's adorable

My first fursuit is a raptor head with ears and horns. I also have a tail for him. However I am commissioning someone to make me a mini partial suit! I'm so excited!!

Go for it! As long as you're (very) patient and have Google at the ready, the process is actually surprisingly forgiving. Using established techniques, there's really no step where you can't go back and undo your mistakes. You might even surprise yourself with how cute it turns out! :)

Def gonna try to get mine in the next one. I commented on the first video a long time ago but I was the one who spray painted my first suit head and attempted to sew fur directly onto spray painted foam without glue. I now make fleece suits
Honestly hope you continue this series. What you lack in roasting potential you make up for in your honest assessments of the work. Kinda makes me want to try making a head for myself one day!

I have just rapidly became a furry by watching stuff by chance, I just started on my first head and I'm cautiously optimistic. I'm an experienced cosplayer and have worked on several foam based ears and tales (and have made several adjustments for stellar movement) so I really hope it turns out well

it's definitely still novice but i think it turned out really well for a first. I'm working on the tail now and once i can bug my parents to buy some bulk duct tape I'll be doing the bodysuit xD
My first suit, i made it from one of your tutorials. It’s YOUR good work that made it how amazing it is.
Just because it's your first fursuit doesn't mean it has to always look bad! The experience can be great for the future and if you *take your time and do the research* you can end up with an amazing fursuit head! My first furred head actually turned out great, but I did have to keep my motivation in check ahaha

Don't worry, I've seen some professional workers use hot glue! It seems to be very legitimate

I'm preparing to make a fursuit head soon, and I'm wondering if this white mesh fabric I have will work for the eyes. I got it on Amazon, and it was listed as buckram, but it was just a mesh fabric. Its pretty easy to see through it, but I don't think it'll be easy to color it to make it into the eyes.

Hi Skye! I really like your videos, and they give me so much inspiration! I'm pretty new at the fursuit community, and I would love to make my own fursuit someday, and meet all kinds of people. But the thing is, my fursona is a poodle! Is there any possibility that you could consider to make a fursuit head tutorial with its ears pointing down? I would be super interested in that. Mostly I see lots of beautiful fursuits with ears always pointing up. I would also love any kinds of tricks and watch all tutorials bout making fursuits.
Considering how my Personality Menagerie is all animals (hence "Menagerie"), I think I've kinda joined the community by default...even though I haven't made any furry suits yet. The first I was gonna make is my inner child, and she's a...dog? I guess? I mean, she's a fusion of three animals, but she's primarily dog...and one of her ears droops. If you ever figure out how to do that you can let me know, and if I figure it out first I'll let _you_ know.

I LOVE these because I remember my first fursuit head back in 2008… when all we had was Matrices tutorials! (Still love these!) - it was using their mesh base tutorial and had fimo teeth and was so cursed 😂 I remember being so proud that I managed to dodgily wire a computer fan into the muzzle with a battery in same muzzle just free dangling in front of my eyes 😂😂 if ever you do another of these I’ll have to submit it because of the nostalgia of Matrices tutorials! Lol and YES it had the tiny triangle ears I don’t know why haha

I honestly have no idea why I did this, but when I made my first fursuit, I decided to make TWO AT THE SAME TIME. I don’t know what I was thinking trying to make two fursuits at the same time and it being something I’ve never done before. To be fair, they weren’t traditional foam fursuit heads. One was a dino mask, and the other a skull dog. They were both fully furred along with hand paws and a tail. They came out surprisingly well besides the fact that the first tail I made which was for the dino mask looked like a fluffy hot dog. There was like no shape to it, just a cylinder. I recently remade the tail for the Dino mask after realizing I apparently still had some of the leftover fur I used for the dino mask in my closet just sitting there for close to 2 years.
I just got to work on my first suit, let's see how it turns out

My first fursuit is a partial made by a friend from school. I just recently had a full body fursuit made that is friggen awesome!!! I guess I should make a video of me fully suited up. You are adorable I must say!!!

It takes ages lmao, I've had my half finished head (first head) sitting under my bed, and she's been that way since pre covid, because I just don't have motivation
After seeing some of the atrocities. I'm just going to save up for a partial suit.
(I'm not very artistic, and I haven't used a sewing machine since Home Economics class over 10 years ago lol)
@@justaperson4656 I know what you mean. There were so many projects I was planning to start over the lockdowns in 2020. I was going to practice bass guitar every day. I was going to produce music every few days, and I was finally going to start writing my first book from a story that's been in my head for almost 15 years. I did none of that. Having ADD is awesome.
@@undeadknight01 I've hand sewn the suit I'm working on, currently she has muzzle to chin done. She very much looks like a first suit, and I've grown to hate the foam foot base I used (it looks like a clown shoe), but I'm way too broke to save up for a partial, especially considering that sona has 3 tails
Completely get losing motivation as lockdown went on though. I started learning Japanese and can still only *just* hold a conversation, if I struggle. I was so focused on getting stuff done and being productive that I didn't even realise I gave myself burnout

I just finished my third foam head but it’s the only one I’ve completely done (but technically I made one before that was made with cardboard) and (the first finished foam head) is for a friend as a late birthday gift. It looks obviously like a beginner head but I hope my friend appreciates the effort
