Of the great Indian music what has lately caught the ears abroad is the noisy Bollywood music. Of course, film music once played a significant role to liberate the Gharana based classical music. Even then, illustrious musicians like Pt. Ravi Shankar, Ustad Vilayat Khan and Raees Khan Saheb took courage to experiment with the ultimate beauty of a Raga played on an instrument and would often break into sing a snippet of a composition that would take the audience to a level of such engrossment that they would ask for more. They just without any reservation conveyed the thrill what they felt. When Polydor Record started their label in Mumbai, their very innovative A&R Manager Virendra Luther asked me to dub over a Greek instrumental which I found to be a strange version of Raga Bhairavi. Only Rais Khan can do this with such romanticism - He is also proving to all the people who believe that Indian classical music, is somehow inferior (Jazz artists that I know in person love to try and poke holes in it here is myself playing sitar with a great Jazz Saxophone player who has this mind set ruclips.net/video/JTU2mb2vnOo/видео.html - ) can use all 12 notes of the chromatic scale and doing it sublimely
I always get confused when I compare Ustad Sharif Khan Poonchwalay with Ustad Raees Khan but when I get into minor details, I see that Ustad Sharif khan born only once in the history of Indopak classical music.
