東京都下水道局の千代田幹線整備事業は、千代田区飯田橋～港区港南までの全長約8.7kmの新設幹線を整備し、老朽化している既設幹線の再構築と、外濠等の水質改善を目的とするプロジェクトの1つです。既設の下水道幹線は都市部の下水を芝浦水再生センターへ送るための大動脈として機能しており、常に水量が多く、水位が高い状態にあります。千代田幹線を整備し、下水の流れを切り替えることにより、飯田橋幹線等の再構築を進めていきます。千代田区飯田橋～港区港南（芝浦水再生センター）までの約8.7kmを１基のシールドマシンで掘進し下水道管を築造します。
飛島建設が施工を手掛けた「芝浦水再生センター導水渠立坑設置工事」では、シールドマシンの到達立坑をニューマチックケーソン工法により構築しました。立坑の深さは65.4mにも及び、これは都内の下水道立坑としては最大の深さになります（2023年2月現在）。

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government Bureau of Sewerage's Chiyoda Trunk Line Construction Project is one of the projects that aims to construct a new trunk line with a total length of approximately 8.7 km from Iidabashi in Chiyoda Ward to Konan in Minato Ward and reconstruct the aging trunk line to improve the water quality of the outer moat. The existing sewerage trunk lines function as main arteries for sending urban sewage to the Shibaura Water Reclamation Center, and the water volume and water level are always high. By constructing the Chiyoda Trunk Line and switching the flow of sewage, we are proceeding with the reconstruction of the Iidabashi Trunk Line and others. From Iidabashi in Chiyoda Ward to Konan in Minato Ward (Shibaura Water Reclamation Center), 1 shield machine excavates and constructs sewer pipes with a length of approximately 8.7 km.
In the "Shibaura Water Reclamation Center Underdrain Vertical Shaft Installation Project", which Tobishima Corporation worked on, we constructed the arrival shaft for the shield machine using the pneumatic caisson method. The depth of the vertical shaft reaches 65.4m, and this is the deepest sewer shaft in Tokyo as of February 2023.
