The devil stole my husband over a year ago from my children and me and filled for divorce for unbiblical and no reasons. There has been no communication and I have remained faithful and was praying and interceeding with my children for over 13 months but it's looking more hopeless and feels as if what was stolen won't be return. I believe God wants all mankind to remain faithful to one another. However, because not all serve God and know Christ Jesus as Master and Lord and Savior, it's impossible for all marriages to be pleasing to Him unless it is built on the foundation and knowledge of His Word.
Now to answer your second question, if there's been a divorced between the unbelievers' union but later on one spouse has come to know Christ as Lord and Savior and later on remarried a Christian believer and this particular spouse who not knowingly knew that God hates divorce when he or she was an unbelievers and didn't know Christ; Yes, God can forgive and bless that marriage because both spouse sins are under the blood that have repented. There's now no condemnation to them that are in Christ Jesus that walks not after the flesh but after God's Holy Spirit. Romans 8:1. Their past sins are gone. All things have become new.
In my view I honestly don't believe the Holy Spirit would redirect a believer back to their old past and old beliefs. This is what I believe the Holy Spirit will do for any that are in Christ Jesus. He joins Christians together as one in Christ. Unless God says otherwise for that particular spouse that has been divorced to go back because He has other plans for their unbelieving ex spouse to come to know Christ, then that spouse has to make the decision according to the will of God.
