    Okay, there are Hippies here. The air exchanger is an absolute must. Keep doing what you do so we don't have to.

    I really like your approach and totally agree with your comment on the health concerns if there's no ventilation.

    I built my tiny house 3 1/2 years ago and have been living in it for three years and have been sick for 2 1/2 years. I am only now realizing how important a heat recovery system is and a venting for the shower. My house was tested positive for mold and I am only now starting to get my life back together.
    FOLKS!!!!! PUT IN A HEAT RECOVERY UNIT “AND” A PROPER SHOWER VENT!!!!!!

      I hear ya. Im having an issue with my water storage. Stagnant water is not good. As long as I keep my eye closed in the shower im good but if that water gets in my eyes. I’m f Ed. I bleached the tanks but that’s horrible for my teeth when I brush them.

      😂😂 holy cow.. I can’t tell if you’re joking or not but that doesn’t sound good. Lol.
      I’m going to install the Lunoe e2 system. Pretty pricey but would be interested in your opinion. Love the videos

      Oh no joke. It’s like I live in Mexico. Don’t drink the water

    It would be best to vent the stove hood at the closest place, i.e. on the same wall as the stove. the volume of air pull to the far away vent port will be too low for the distance. particulates such as grease parts will stick to the PVC and you will have a problem later trying to clean it. I have designed and built many conventional homes that proves this out.

    It's nice to see very quiet options for the vent fans - our place has a really loud fan and I was concerned that we would only have the same options for a Tiny House. Great to see another video Dan!

    This is exactly what I need. I haven't finished the cabin yet but I need to know about getting rid of condensation in the bathroom.

    Good to see you're back!!! Air exchangers are great. You only have so much volume of breathable air in any house, but MUCH less in a tiny house. You have to remember that YOU produce plenty of steam yourself. Plus PEANUT!! I don't know how small or efficient you can find, but a dehumidifier would also work. Only you'd still need fresh air now and then... The exchangers I've seen are pretty big. I think you could probably build one using a computer cooling fan. They don't use much power at all and are pretty quiet. Your basement is Climate Controlled, so maybe that would be a good place for it. Summertime when the AC is running it will remove most of your moisture. It's really the colder months I'd worry about. I've seen where the tiny stoves are causing too much moisture. For me, I think I'd do a combo AC/HEAT unit and not have to worry about open flames or carrying wood. Plus they just take up more room.. Scratches to Peanut!!

    Comment from Ireland, Thanks for your RUclips video, I am currently looking at buying a residential 4bedroom log cabin and none of the sales companies have ventilation in their cabin designs - so it's an added extra. Your clip really helped!

    You may want to consider condensation issues with your bathroom fan. The duct may be colder than the hot humid air. And you may end up with a leak.
    Also, have you considered a direct vent to the outside for your kitchen stove? Ones similar to the ones you use to see in Mobil homes?

    Check out the Panasonic FV-04VE1 energy recovery generator. I've done some research on ERVs and they can also be used as a bathroom vent as well so they can take care of 2 birds with one stone. I think it would be almost small enough to fit above your bathroom. Only problem is they cost about $450 when you add the 2 in adapter/exterior vent

    Hey Dan. I can't remember what video I seen it on but this lady order air exchanger from the uk or something and it's has internal ceramic thing to keep the heat in the house but to exhaust all the hair without losing Heat. It wasnt cheap.

      @TinyHouseCustoms  7 лет назад +1

      +JayRock Yeah that's roughly how they work. 500-1500$$. Not cheap.

    Do the vents have any filters / covers to keep the birds and bees out? Or are you kind to nature by creating so much critter habitat?

    • @TinyHouseCustoms
      @TinyHouseCustoms  7 лет назад

      +wwwShadow7 There's no filter except on a stove vent. The exterior vents have a check valve style flap. It only opens when air is flowing.

    I'm watching your video 1 year after you posted. I have found 24" hood fans that fit perfectly under the top kitchen cabinets. But, it's 220v and are sourced from S.Korea. item2.gmarket.co.kr/English/detailview/item.aspx?goodscode=832044989
    They are 51w@220v. If you can get a step up converter, (110v to 220v) you'd be using about 110-120w@110v.
    I currently live and work in S.Korea and will be shipping a couple of these (or ones like these) home to Canada when I leave.
    If anyone is serious about buying one of these, I'd like to help you. I doubt these companies want to send their product to America and their English proficiency is probably crap.
