For anyone who is still developing their voice and wondering if they are a Tenor, think more about where your voice is the most powerful for a good feeling on where you should be. I started singing back in 2022 and my range after about 3 months of getting used to things was from E2 to E4 and it was uncomfortable as hell to hit F4. Nonetheless my choir director made me sing tenor because my voice was most powerful at the top of my range, despite missing a few notes. After around 2.5 years to today my range is from F2-A4 and I sing Tenor 2. Without the help of my choir director to tell me how my voice was probably going to develop I probably would have gone on the list of Tenors who sing Baritone because they never practiced singing higher notes. As a side note, though I can hit all of the notes in the Tenor 1 section (99% of the time), I sing Tenor 2 because the quality of my voice is darker and less airy than the average Tenor 1. Keep that in mind as you look to find your true voice :)
You are such a great teacher with such brilliant energy. If you lived in East Sussex I would definetly come to you for lessons. Thanks for these videos.
Used this video to help me get my tenor voice back after a bout of covid three months ago, which left me unable to sing. Excellent, and you did a great job of a one way conversation. I felt you were talking to me! Thankyou very much. Practicing for Mozart Coronation Mass in Brecon Cathedral!
So what is a baritone then? I see that used a lot but it wasn't mentioned here.. Somebody told me baritone is a "timber" in your voice. I can sing maybe 4 notes higher than the average tenor but that's because I trained my voice to do so.. However I've heard people say "mid-range baritone" referring to baritone and a bit lol.
I agree but the altos and tenors are in the middle and the outer highs are sopranos while the lowest are the basses given that there are some SATB choir repertoire.
I am so sorry to bother you. I know this is about belting. I found this online about the tenor range: By Some Standards Tenor = B2 - F4 or C3 - B4. I sing B2 - A4 and I can hit B4 and C5. My voice reminds me of the range Ed Sheehan sings in. I’ve noticed that my voice blossoms as I get higher in my range, it doesn’t sound deep but kind of brassy, bright, and a high tone. Please help. What vocal type do you think I may be? I would greatly appreciate your help.
I can sing confortably from G2 to A4, my range is F2~B4 (without fry and falsetto). Am I a tenor or baritone? PS: I only found my head voice 2 months ago. And I think my mix voice sounds better somewhere between and D3~A4. Similar to Tom Chaplin (Keane)
good morning somevoice, thanks for this video. my question is are you saying a high pitch note of a particular note is what tenor is taking in parting a song?
I started an octave above accidentally hahaha Also if I talk loudly, my voice is around F3-B3 or C4 with many fluctuations and that is for literally speaking voice, not the more mixed singing type-of vocal quality hahaha I guess I'm too high for this one XD
Even touching on baratone might have been helpful. Im only starting singing but this was comfortable but in could easily have gone lower (much easier than higher). Guessing im a low tenor if there is such a thing
i have a very high vocal range i can even reach sopranos but its hard for me to know how to sing tenor part in a song or perhaps the difference in terms sounding. how do we find tenor part in a song.
I generally use falsetto past about G# (third thinnnest string, first fret, on a guitar) Using falsetto feels like it takes the strain off of my voice. Any thoughts on doing this? I sing solo, doing my own original jazz, and sing 3 or 4 hours, on gigs somewhat regularly (depending on the season.) Using falsetto feels like it has saved my voice. They've scoped my vocal chords, and I show no damage. Is falsetto a way of protecting vocal chords ? I'd be curious as to how knowledgable people with experience in singing would perceive the way that I use falsetto. If you know something about this subject, here's a link to one of my tunes, where I use falsetto. ruclips.net/video/kRU2KlbIA0g/видео.html
You are a baritone trust me. A tenor voice has a different color. You have the ability to sustain very low notes thanks to the muscles of the body. A tenor does not have all this resonance on the low notes, even if it uses the body to sustain the notes. You are a baritone with tenor training. I'm sorry for my English
Hi, yes you are right, but Luke was referencing our choir, Some Voices, where we do not have Bass parts, so our lowest parts are Tenor. I hope that clarifies things. Thanks for watching!
I'm sorry for my English. It's easy, only if you do the registry change before him. It has to be all natural and uniform. I am also an acute tenor but I also have the bass baritone extension. Usually the true high tenor has a very large extension both downwards and upwards. In practice it is a falsetto that becomes true voice thanks to the support. The professor here doesn't have a very high-pitched head voice. Michael Jackson was a high tenor but could go lower on a baritone, also Dimash is a baritone with a high tenor range.

Thank you Luke. That was very helpful to me to begin to discover my vocal range 😊
I’m a tenor. I can go from a C3 to a C5 comfortably. My actual range is an A2 to an E3.

Thank you, teacher! You are so lovely! I was wonder if I was a baritone or Tenor untill I found your video! You are so helpful! Thank you sir!
You're so welcome!
Wow! This video has really helped me in my singing career.❤️
great energy in your teaching style
Thanks Luke! I can chest to E5 but can carry on with Head/Falsetto into C6. My lowest is D3 before starting to get uncomfortable

thanks 🎵. it's a great video
Eh? The top note/last note you play isn't my highest.. So does that mean I can go more higher? Is that an indication that I'm a high tenor?
Sorry but his high note is an F4 and the tenors high notes are more in the A to B4 so I find the vidéo confusing.
I started an octave above accidentally hahaha

It would be nice, if you mentioned, the notes your playing and therefore singing on the piano.
Hi! Can U plz help me? I want to learn how to work with my voice!
Thank U 🥰❤
What about countertenor
Even touching on baratone might have been helpful. Im only starting singing but this was comfortable but in could easily have gone lower (much easier than higher). Guessing im a low tenor if there is such a thing

Why didn't you continue the vocal warm-up for the high tenors as well?

Tenor is absolutely not the lowest voice in the choir. Bass is.

Sometimes, I can get to a G5.
Ok the highest key of tenor is my comfortable range. Lol I’m sure I’m an Alto.
Jungkook Daily vocal exercises please.
im a high tenor, so the "top note" still felt easier to me.
I am a low tenor which means I possess a fairly good low end around Ab2 and the top note that feels easy for me is the B4 (C5 on a very good day).

I don't believe tenor is the lowest , baritone and bass are the lowest in choir setting.
Hi Aaron, you are absolutely right. Tenor is just the lowest voice range we use in Some Voices choir.
3 kind of human Voices,the tenor,Soprano,& falsetto🎼🎵🎹🎶🎸🎤
