I find that many of these "Peacekeepers" are often just cowards with some self-righteousness in the mix, because they lack the spine to stand up for what's right.
I mean sure, there are some instances in which you need to get over yourself to keep the piece, if the dispute is over something that is minor and insignificant, and both sides are blowing it way out of proportion, and it's disturbing the peace within the group for no justifiable reason, then it makes sense to get them to stop, and make up for it.
This story isn't one of those cases however, the sister literally tried to blackmail OP and her (now) husband, and so they decided to (privately) humiliate her in front of her friends and family, and it's not like they uploaded it on Social Media (because then, they'd have a point about OP taking it too far, unless the sister decided to escalate things), so the "friends" are just being Peacekeepers instead of sticking up for OP, like real friends.
Whether it is creative writing or AI generated, the story should be worth believable. They came to blackmail OP's fiancé, who is a big shot business magnet's son, claiming she was pregnant with his child. As far as I know, people like fiancé or his family wouldn't give a fcuk about such empty threats. Instead, they would have involved the authorities, putting them behind bars. Choosing beggars mother daughter duo, don't stand a chance against fiancé and his family. What is even more funny in this story is, protagonist convinces fiancé to play "Nancy Drew", lol.

Which is literally what this is an example of, it's a similar scenario to a spouse hitting you and then apologizing so you buy them a gift to reconcile. 9:12 maybe I’m weird, but being called cunning is not an insult in my eyes. Besides, the sister was actively trying to blackmail three separate people. And in one fell swoop OP destroyed her entire plan. I don’t see how letting that go to court is the better scenario, cause then everyone is losing money. Lawyers aren’t cheap, then there’s the court of public opinion to consider. Once that court case becomes public knowledge, regardless of the outcome, the fiancé would forever be associated with the potential scandal. I’ve seen it countless times, where someone is found innocent but the population at large treats them as if they did it anyway. It’s very difficult to change someone’s opinion of you when they have little to no intention on ever second guessing their initial decision, I’m speaking from experience. I was accused of something, found innocent, and I was still treated like a pariah. People would threaten me, or openly attempt to assault me. I ended up having to uproot my life and start over somewhere else, because even with evidence in hand no one believed me.

If she was pregnant and crashed due to a DUI, she would have cps coming as well as the police. She’d also have her child removed from her custody as soon as it’s born. The fact that she blackmailed someone could also be considered in her case and she’d probably never be able to see her child again. She might even be charged with child endangerment. She’s lucky she didn’t kill her child cause that would have been manslaughter/murder depending on how the judge views it. She doesn’t deserve the slightest bit of sympathy.

From my standpoint, destroying her sisters reputation was the only thing to get them out of their attempt of Blackmail. They made very clear that they would destroy her fiances reputation, even if they went to authorites. So doing the first strike and rendering her account useless was the only thing they could do. Yeah it was extreme and definitly not something "good" but i rather hate the game than the player here, because its common knowledge how rumors set free first are always lingering around and can do insane damage.

The confession of the jealously is something good, but the truth was the "sister" and "mother" deserved the "scorched earth" tactic. The "sister" realizing what she did was wrong, but the fact is all of the "friends" wanted to justify their own desire for Schadenfreude against the OP. As evil as what the "sister" and "mother" did, the entire concept of Schadenfreude is much worse. That hinges on a "desire to have participated in 'humbling' the OP and her fiance." This probably isn't real, but if it is then I think giving money to help out isn't the best idea. The problem is that giving money could enable further bad behavior. Consequences and getting through them is how we learn. I say this from my own experience.
