September In The Rain Nelson Riddle and His Orchestra Arranged and Conducted by Nelson Riddle Recorded July 22, 1957 For the Capitol Records album "C'mon Get Happy"
This is definitely an iconic arrangement. I spent 3 weeks transcribing this from the original handwritten scores that were provided to me from the Nelson Riddle archives at the U of A in Tucson. The whole intro with its whole tone scales is great and somewhat hard to hear all the subtleties. The just the first two bars of the melody using descending and parallel diminished chords, this is Nelson at his best. The two flutes and two clarinets (the alto and tenor sax players) are doing something Nelson picked up from Debussy. And more and more... Great stuff.
Very nice instrumental of a song I heard sung long ago by many singers among them the great Jo Stafford. Very nice to hear instead of the noise that tries to pass off as music made today.
the stereo masters or mono mix for the two albums Nelson did at Capitol - Hey let yourself go and c'mon get happy are in the Capitol vaults and should be released!
I’m 64 and can remember recognizing his music on tv and radio.I think as recognizable as Hitchcock
Marvelous!!!!
Tempo bom, em que se podia ouvir orquestras como essa. Nunca mais!

Puts you in an uptick mood, any song with the word Rain is mellow, does anybody agree?

It doesn't get much better than this !
I bought this album many, many moons ago, when I was a Teen and thanks God I found it in C.D.. 10 years ago and still is one of my favorites.

The incomparable Nelson Riddle.
I enjoy some of Nelson Riddle and some of Henry MancinI.Bert Kaempfert is the best in my opinion.
