This wasn't a video I intended to make. However, I wanted to share this with other anglers not as a 'blood n guts' but to highlight the risks we all take and will continue to take as we love our fishing and the beautiful places we explore along the way. Where possible fish with a friend, it's not only more fun but my session may have had a different outcome with Steve. Also, download What3Words (W3W) as it can direct the rescue teams to within a few metres of your location. Ask yourself a few 'what ifs' and have a back up plan in case you need it. Accidents happen, we can't stop that. All we can do is try to minimise them as much as possible. Stay safe, enjoy your fishing. Phil
Hope your injuries mend quickly, big benefits to not fishing alone. Stay safe, and let yourself heal properly before you get back out again. Well done Steve.
Thanks, I was both unlucky and lucky if you know what I mean. I highlighted What3Words during the video. Steve used that to get the Ambulance team to our exact location. In times when it's not a car park the W3W app could well make a huge difference. Good job I had the app on my phone.
Noooooooooo, hope you get better very very soon mate, at least your not badly hurt, make sure you get right before you go out again, nice video though, you could of shown mere, all the best see you soon Phil,
I use iMovie on a mac book. The thumbnails are with PhotoscapeX. Both free bits of software. I was having a look at CapCut - might have time to learn that over the next few weeks.
Thanks, It doesn't bear thinking about. Fortunately I was well above High Water Mark, however, as I'd mentioned we were fishing an incoming tide.... I'll mend and be taking more care in future. Thanks Phil.
Another good video Phil, was worried id see bleed n guts half way through 😲 glad they got the ambulance close to the scene for you, tak it easy freen, get mended and back fishing ASAP 🎣 Glaid tae see your getting good use o yer Catch Mair Fash cloot 👍 Tak care pal
Thanks Gordon. I wanted the video to help all the other anglers out there to take care and stay safe. Fish with a friend if possible - you never know what might happen. Don't worry, the 'Catch Mair Fash' cloot is for fishy stuff not mopping blood 😁
@@anotherangleUK Your video has certainly brought tae licht how easily and unexpectedly this can happen, as an angler who often fishes alone on mostly safe marks nooadays this will stick in my mind more after seeing yer video, thanks ma freen 🎣
Wishing you a speedy recovery and glad you are ok and not on your own in a more remote mark. I fractured my hand a few years ago when drilling at work so totally get the situation you are in, tough missing the fishing for a while but you’ll be raring to go once healed.
Thanks for the kind word. Thank goodness I didn't break any bones. The shoulder was all over the place. The medics couldn't believe the X-ray results. Sorry to hear about your own previous misfortune - hopefully there were no long lasting problems. Phil.
I know where you’re coming from with the lack of Pike. I’ve been given some pointers by subscribers so hopefully be putting things right as soon as this arm works properly again.
@@anotherangleUK that’s always a help and good that people will share their knowledge. I’ve fished for pike a long time but i tend to fish a huge hydro loch up here mostly and find winter and locating fish really hard even after being up here a while (spring can be a bit easier). I’ve done well on occasions but blanks in winter far outweigh those, which can be normal in piking all over the UK so best not to be to harsh on ourselves. 5 hrs round trip too, if it was closer i could maybe fish it more often which would help. Good luck when you get back on the pike i’m sure you’ll get amongst them.
Hi Harrybobs. Get those studs fitted before you next go out - don't put it off and end up like I have (or worse). Fish with mates it's more fun anyway but especially so if you fish more remote marks. I'm on the mend and being well looked after. Thanks Phil.
Blimey Phil, I got less injuries playing Rugby!!! I've dislocated my shoulder a few times and it's blumming painful and took months to recover fully from. Very glad you didn't fall into the sea in that state so I agree, it could well have been a lot worse. The most important thing is that you're OK, you're reflecting and learning from your mistakes and you have shared with us. We all need a refresher from time to time. Hope you get better soon and so close to that 1000 now!!! The things we do for the things we love hey!!!
Thanks Dave for the kind words. I’ve had a long ‘should have done this, should have done that’ conversation in my head. But can’t turn clock back so just need to move forward. I suspect torn muscle(s) so this could take a while to get back to normal. However, I’ll get there and get back out fishing. I’m humbled by over 1000 subscribers supporting my attempts at catching fish and creating videos. Thanks to everyone who’s supported the channel. Phil
Hope your on the mend soon sir 👍 the cod will still be waiting on you 🎣 I mostly sea fish by myself so will have a look at what3words 👍 Two years ago i popped my knee out at the bottom of st abbs, lucky my mate was with me on that day and the two lads that climbed down to help 👍 Getting over the leap was the really hard bit as i only had one leg to go on , Once over it was one lad in front of me and two behind me as i shimmied my way to the top on my erse then off to a&e 👍
Thanks for the kind words. Who knew Angling was an extreme sport? Anyway, it’s what we do and what we love. Do take a look at W3W and stay safe in your own fishing. I’ll be back out soon 👍
If it's an emergency you're better off calling the coastguard if it's on a beach, they'll be there in minutesand notify the ambulance, maybe different up there but aking for ambulance service directly from 999 is a waste of valuable time in Wales.
Thanks for the information. Good to know and share with all our angling friends should we ever find ourselves in this situation. Take care, stay safe and tight lines mate👍
@anotherangleUK You too👍 Sorry for rant but i had an experience a 3 months ago where i had to put the phone down on the ambulance dispatcher after 5 minutes of trying to explain the beach i was on was not in a town. Called the coastguard, the call lasted about 5 seconds, knew exactly where i was and had a paramedic and helicopter there in minutes, can't praise them enough. The ambulance turned up some time later to take away the body. I will always wonder if i'd called the coastguard first it would of been a different outcome.
Don't apologise, sorry to hear your experience was so different. You did your very best at the time. Can't turn the clock back, you did your best. Take care mate.
Great video mate we all have to be careful as our hobby is V dangerous I hope you heal up well for the coming spring and summer mate. If you want waterproofs that work mate I can recommend a brand I wear at work called beta craft I have the bib and brace and parka jacket for work on fsrm in Cornwall and they have kept me dry at work in some terrible weather this year they aren't cheap bib and brace about hundred quid jacket hundred and eighty but they best fishing waterproofs hands down I'll never buy fishing waterproofs agian after using them Any way Fast recovery and if you in Cornwall shout me we can go wet a line
Thanks, we should probably take up a safer sport like skydiving or motorcycle racing. Thanks for the tips on wet weather gear. Hopefully fit enough for Cornwall again this year. Great part of the world and well worth the thirteen hour drive down there. Phil
Most things with a 'fishing brand' or 'sailing brand' tend to focus more on the inflated price tag than functionality......yeah I know, I'm a right old grump 😁
Hi, thanks for commenting. Another channel @soultrader57fishingandmusic and I are working on the music. He composers his own far better and more appropriate music.
Thank you, I will. Brings it home that you're no longer a kid. I remember the days when I'd fall off a bike and bounce. At my age things now take a lot longer to fix. Thanks for your kind words.
