I laughed when I saw the front tire, I ran the 606s for years then switched to Pirelli MT 43s for that kind of riding (street-dirt),been using them for about 15 years, thanks for your work ! 😊

Just subscribed. Nice vid, think you made right choice to pull over for the night instead of pushing on in the dark. And please change that tyre, it’s past its use by date. Cheers from Australia.

Your videos are always good, looking forward to your Baja trip. Will you be riding from St George, or truck your bike down there? Be safe riding by yourself and have a good trip.

Love both bikes, have both bikes. I prefer my 300L for deeper backcountry moto camping due to the lighter weight.

Hi do you recomend the Dr650 for a 1,68 guy? Right now I have a Klr650 G3, but Im looking a bit light Offroad moto. Good videos man, chears from Argentina.

    • @precipiceofgrind
      @precipiceofgrind  2 месяца назад

I went from a Gen3 KLR to the DR650. I wanted a lighter bike for off road but still have it comfortable for highway riding. The DR works a little better for me than the KLR did. So yes, I highly recommend the DR650.

The ride up to the top of Diana’s Punchbowl looks way worse than it really is. All that way, and you didn’t even get to see it and lean over the edge! :-) :-)

Hwy 50…Lord God I’ve pulled that stretch across Nevada dozens of times..dozens.
The problem with Hwy 50 is Austin NV..it’s a speed trap..and!! It locks up!! There’s what? One station that use to stay open 24 hours a day but..the last time I went through there some 2 years ago that Chevron station was closed for the day which means no drink nor no sort of edible anything!! Maybe that’s changed.
Further..if you need gas after Austin headed to Eureka..you’d better have enough fuel cause there’s no fuel in between.
Maybe someday you’ll make it to Sand Mountain…bleak mountain of sand. Use to be a cat house just past Sand Mountain west of at a location called “Salt Wells”. It was torn down many years ago.
Certainly there’s lots of BLM land out there…certainly you can get dust storms that will choke you as well particularly when the last drought hit the western US..,!!
Added…deer and elk!! Be watchful during the night..antelope too…and cattle. Back in the latter 80’s a tractor trailer hit a steer standing broadside at night…truck looked like a bomb went off. Jesus!! What a mess! Driver died.
Unique landscape..but don’t travel without food/water/blankets…and fuel up at every location particularly during the winter. You jay have to run your vehicle to stay “Not Frozen”!
I have no idea what a motor cyclist would do if traveling during winter. Not recommending such. I did one ride across 50 back in 2003 during July. Just righteous!!

Now we're talking!! I love hearing the stories amigo! Sounds like Hwy 50 is a challenge, I'll have to hit the entire stretch in the Spring! Appreciate you watching!

Nevada is just unique..so much ancient history to see..geology is mind blowing. And I’m glad I started to experience Nevada well ahead of the current human expansion.
Topaz Lake area towards Carson City was just pretty much raw but…it’s now just chopped up for those that can afford multi million dollar estates so to speak. But there’s east into the White Mountains.
I’ve watched many of your videos…you’re correct about the era of water marshes and such that use to be it seems across the state. And it’s easy to spot these areas..if one will just stop and observe.
You’re fortunate to be able to traverse Nevada before it’s turned into a modern industrial storehouse of minerals…by means of just ripping up the landscape.
My days of excursions is passing..hell..has passed. Brings on a sadness so please…continue to explore Nevada whether east/west/north and south…and post everything you’re seeing. It does bring a smile to my heart.
I have to be careful anymore due to physical limitations due to working and playing so hard…but I am at least building a boondocking trailer…hope to see you down the Nevada trail someday. Maybe at the Chevron station in Austin Nevada..🤣
Read up about a felon by the name of Claude Dallas..if I recall his name correctly..was on the run from the law by hiding out in the many gold mines around Austin NV.
      Thanks
