Nice review, nice car. I personally like the fact that there is a small straight 6cyl engine in a good looking sports saloon which is not a BMW. I'm a big fan of the 3 series but I like this car even more. The chronograph watch style speedometer is uniqe and the lexus badge is not what you call working class feel. I like japanese cars but if it comes to european luxury only lexus seems to get it right.
Good review, really clear and detailed, could have had a microphone cover to block out the wind noise though. Production for the IS200 stopped in 2005 I think. In red it looks so gorgeous in my opinion, I have one in dark green(SE type) but I'm saving for the insurance so I haven't even driven it yet sadly, it's just a nice looking antique right now sadly =P
Just bought one of these. I got the SE tho with all the toys including navigation. This one reviewed is only the S trim. Great car, smooth inline 6 and very comfortable. I want the IS300 now tho, its suppose to have practically the same MPG and much better performance.
I would advise you get your facts straight. I do not copy Kyle in any shape or form, he is actually one of my viewers and has been since last year and he has not once complained about my review style.
It uses a fair bit of fuel to be honest. I get 21 miles per UK imperial gallon (About 11.2ish L/100km), although, I can get that up to 23mpg (10.2ish L/100km) If I keep it in "Snow mode" all the time. Snow mode dulls down the throttle response a little, So the car won't react as quickly when you stamp on the throttle. All in all, The 1G-FE in the MK1 IS200's is an unusual engine to come out of Toyota. It uses a lot of fuel, But doesn't manage to produce a decent quantity of power with it.
Actually,The Yamaha tweaked one is only the 2.0l 4 cylinder "Beams" engine (3S-GE). It came in the Altezza RS200. The rest of the range (The Altezza AS200, Lexus IS200 and IS300) were just boggo Toyota engines. The 6 cylinder 2.0l used the 1G-FE, And the 3.0l had the 6 cylinder 2JZ-GE. I've got an IS200. Nice car, But God does it drink fuel !!!!!!
No. The IS200 has a 1G-FE. The 2.0 in the Altezza RS200 is the 3S-GE. The IS300 uses the 3.0 2JZ-GE which is the non turbo motor found in the SZ Supra MK4 A80.

one of the best infornative reviews. #Thanks
ah that was the 3 litre 6 cylinder one i believe...i think personally these cars are under rated.
no chance mate i got is200 sport and take 12 litres urban and 9-10 litres in long trip speed about 70mil/h
hello im thinking of getting a lexus is200 but how much fuel does it require thanks.

hey sane im not a lover of lexus but i like the locks the in and out locks typical japanese cars
Love these cars, except the U. S only had the IS300
Had one of these in New Zealand. Its called the Toyota Altezza outside of the USA. Great car with a straight six Yamaha engine.
Whats strange is i have the 2.0L 1GFE Beams engine... but yet the dash says altezza...and some slightly different features.. oh well awesome cars
DJVADO17 Weird, do have in mind that the beams is the Yamaha one too, est. power output of 160hp 😁
I get 9.5 l/100 km on average and 7.2 l/100 km on long trips.
Then you suck at driving economically. It's not that hard to obtain good numbers if you drive carefully.
Saabkyle04.....?
Are them yoke 1jz standard

Why are you trying to rip off other youtubers?
