  • In todays adventure I head out on a solo wild camp in the beautiful Lake District. The plan is to bag two Wainwrights in the Far Eastern Fells, Grey Crag and Tarn Crag the latter where I plan to set up camp. As the weather has now warmed up I decided to go out in what I call my summer set up. It's not the lightest coming in at a base weight of 10kg but I'm happy with this set up for my summer camps.
The conditions at the moment are perfect but the nights still get cold so make sure you're prepared for when the temperatures drop. I'm still packing my down coat, pants and booties because there's nothing worse than being cold when out and about and can spoil what would have been a good camp.
Once I reached the summit of Tarn Crag, picking off Grey Crag and Harrop Pike on the way (not a Wainwright), I set up camp and then got the SBP stove out and knocked up a brew to warm up. Sitting admiring the views you forget all the hard work you put int to reach your destination, this makes it all worthwhile.
After a beautiful night watching the sunset above the fells, I climbing into the Flames Creed Lanshan 1 and settle down on the Thermarest X-Therm, wrapped myself up in the Ice Flame Quilt and drifted off to sleep while the Timelapse run through the night. This set up keeps me warm and dry throughout the summer months and has never let me down. The morning brought a lovely sunrise and some epic cloud inversions over the eastern fells, all in all a perfect camp......
Hope you enjoy the adventure, so come on " Lets Do It "

Wonderful video Phil. Longsleddle and Sadgill is a wonderful area. I did Shipman Knott, Kentmere Pike and Harter Fell from there, I have a short video on my channel. The walk back down the valley was lovely. Some cracking cascading waterfalls about half way down. I will be back there as I still have to do Grey and Tarn Crag. Thanks for sharing your adventure with us as always. Cheers Dave
