great to see this video, I'm looking at one and this is what I need to make the decision in getting this one. but might get the 58" since I'm putting an awning on one side. Thanks again.
Definitely! The 58” would have been perfect for my cargo rack and bike rack. The smaller size works but it’s a bit tight. Good call on getting the longer bars. Cheers!
Hey Ron ! Can't say thank you enough for all the videos , picked up my OBW a few months ago and your channel has been instrumental in helping me decide what product I want to explore.
Do not attempt to depress rubber tube in channel and then slide footed rack accessories in above the rubber tube. They just won't slide. When using footed accessories, such as Thule Load Stops, remove rubber tube before installing the accessories. Sure, the rack will whistle but then again, with accessories it will whistle anyway. When done, remove accessories and then reinstall the rubber tube.
The vinyl inserts were impossible to pop in after the rack was installed. So I put the on first and tightened it down. Then I m measured and cut the strips and loosened both sides about six turns from there. The aluminum bar slid out one way, and I could slide the vinyl extrusion into the track. Next EASED the aluminum extrusion over the knobs of the rack mount and tightened it up again. Then I added very short bits of extrusion into each end.
Glad I ran into this video before buying anything. This is exactly what I need at this price. Is it possible to put in the rubber grommets before securing to brackets?
That’s definitely possible if you don’t mind measuring beforehand. It’s a bit risky but also not the end of the world if the rubber pieces aren’t the exact fit. Thanks for watching the video!
So far, so good! Literally no complaints on these crossbars as they’ve held up just fine. Wind noise is slightly increased but you will get that with any crossbars on the market. Someone else commented on here saying they installed the inserts first after measuring the placement of the bars. I think that is the best method to install them. My thumbs would have thanked me 😅
Definitely comparable. I also looked at Thule and Yakima but I couldn’t justify the cost. The dynamic capacity on these bars is 165lbs and for me, that’s plenty. The company is aware that folks use their crossbars for rooftop tents and heavier accessories but for liability reasons, they stand behind the 165lb dynamic and static capacity.
Late reply, but no, it's an additional cost but it doesn't come stock because the rails are rated for much higher weight than the normal outback rails (able to support a roof top tent if you want to put one on

Yup, this is the way. I’m sure it was a lot faster than what I had to do.
That was excellent. Thank you so much.
Thanks for checking it out!

Ordering these (using your link) for my OBW coming this month. Thanks for the video and look forward to more!
Worth every penny. I haven’t taken them off since I installed them. Much appreciated, thank you!
Thank you for this thorough video! How is the wind nose?
Wind noise isn’t bad but there is definitely a little bit added. Thanks for checking out the video!
I just installed the same ones on my OBW but haven’t driven it yet with them on. I did not put the rubber inserts in yet
I have the same color OBW... I really want to get these bars, I just wish they were available in black 😐
I agree!
They are available in black.
How have these been long term? Are they noisy at all? I like the look but the bottom inserts look like a pain to install. Thanks!

Another banger big dawg!
Thanks bro!
So you have to have factory rails for these crossbars or can you buy Malone rails?
You’ll need rails for these crossbars to mount onto. I just used the rails the came from the factory.
Are you happy with the quality of these crossbars now that you have had them for over 2 months?
Yes, no complaints from my side. It’s a solid kit for the price.
Do you think it would also fit on a Forester Wilderness 2023? Thanks?
Yes, I just read on eTrailer’s site that they should fit. Just make sure the part number you get is “MPG215”.
@@ronfromportland Thanks Ron!
@@robertoouellet1188 no problem at all!

@@ronfromportland The dynamic and static weight capacities are not the same for the Airflow2 crossbars, are they?
@@edwardjski these, I believe, have lower weight capacities.
@@ronfromportland I emailed Malone. Dynamic is 165lbs, static/standing weight cap. is 350lbs.
I'm confused why did you buy crossbars if the subaru already comes with crossbars?
It comes with railings, not crossbars. This allows me to use a cargo rack and other accessories as they mount to the crossbars.
Hey Sir! We sincerely look for a collaboration with you! Are you interested in trying our seat covers for your Subaru Outback?😉
Does the OBW not have the built in crossbars my nigga?
Nope
