    About the figment topic, I would like to comment: Many times I hear Disney RUclipsrs saying that Disney doesn't like the annual pass holders because the people that really spends money on the parks merch are the international visitors. But being an international visitor myself, I couldn't disagree more. I could bet not a single international visitor was doing that 7 hours line for figment.
    I'm pretty sure locals are the ones that tend to buy more of the merch and eat on the most expensive restaurants. International visitors already spent way too much just on the vacations itself.

    • @entreprenerd1963
      @entreprenerd1963 Год назад +18

      I suspect that international visitors on average spend more on merchandise per park day, but passholders may on average spend more on merchandise per calendar year. On any given day Disney may prefer to have an international visitor attend over having a passholder attend.

    • @princezzpuffypants6287

      What they are missing is the abject loyalty many annual passholder fans *had* (past tense). They sold out their loyal fans hoping that there would continuously be enough casual visitors to keep their parks full... every day, of every year, for eternity.... it is already backfiring. Family went to Disneyland Anaheim during December, which used to be insanely busy EVERY SINGLE DAY and the park was DEAD even in good Southern California weather...

      It’s a small part of the reason; the big part is absolutely the price. I understand what you say but we have to remember that "one of the biggest IPs in history" was the ORIGINAL TRILOGY of Star Wars. Period. Glad we agree on the sequels as well, it really was a dumb move to theme it all to the new stuff that never even had time to be reflected on or gain a fanbase as big and as old as the other two trilogies, nostalgia is a big thing, you bring in the OG trilogy and easily it would’ve been a massive success and one of the most praised lands. What’s the difference? Andor was sensational. Boba Fett and Obi Wan Kenobi were a slap and kick to the shins. Not to mention the catastrophe that was the sequel trilogy, and Star Wars is a damaged brand in the view of the public.

It was also sad because it was the first time my girlfriend had been to Disneyland and she was pretty disappointed with Adventureland/Frontierland/Critter Country as well as Tomorrowland but I was telling her about how those areas were a lot more fun when they had more stuff open like the hundred acre woods, Splash Mountain/Tiana's Bayou, the steamboat, the canoes, Tom Sawyer island, and the interactive play area and exhibits on Tarzan's treehouse. But I also didn't realize before going that they had closed the innoventions center and starcade in Tomorrowland since the last time I went, so it felt especially empty, plus star tours and Astro blasters have kind of been made obsolete even though I'm still nostalgic for both of them. I wasn't old enough to see Tomorrowland when they had the people mover and skyway but I can imagine Autopia felt a lot more like the future as well when they had those running

    I'm not surprised the people working on Storyliving didn't know what it was supposed to be cause I don't think anyone could look at it and know what it's supposed to be.

    You're, by far, the RUclipsr that pixie dusts THE MOST everything that has been happening with the company in the last years. It's quite incredible tbh. It's a lot of effort. Let's see if you can handle a whole new year of budget and theming cuts before getting tired of the Iger's legacies once for all.

    Indiana Jones Adventure (Disneyland, Ca) is getting a refurbishment. Mr. Snake is getting fixed finally, and MAYBE. Just MAYBE. Some of the old effects will be fixed, or upgraded so we can all ride it in it's formula glory. Hopefully.

    I like the idea of SEA, but with modern Imagineer identity politics I have a feeling each project that comes out of this IP is going to be soft and uninspired, and will only be what the company can afford at the time which is not quite the historical inspiration for Imagineers is it?

    I think you're giving Iger a bit too much credit yet. He really hasn't done anything yet aside from put all his blame on Chapek. I really doubt all the renovations were his call as well. He wants/has to fix the Disney+ revenue loss first.

    • @___David__
      @___David__ Год назад +2

      Exactly. And on top of that, if Disney is in the gutter like it is, it was BECAUSE OF IGER more than Chapek. It was Iger that turned Disney into politics. It was Iger that overspent. It was Iger that put Disney into massive debt.

    I'm a little mad that the rock and roller coaster is closing literally the day I get to Disney World, my luck is really turning up 😆 I haven't been in so long and was looking forward to that, I'll just have to think about all the other exciting stuff that will be open.

  • @Quetzalcoatl_Feathered_Serpent

    As a observer of all things. I've noticed that Chepek during his time at Disney really was about the bottom dollar and cared little of quality, immersion, and overall care. He didn't hire new employees, maintenance was cut in places, he pushed the online food services and similar, even new company products if they could be changed to cut cost, whether it was for advertisement, scripts, or quality he did it.
    This is why for example the Disney Wish is kinda seen as meh compared to its older sisters, and why the Star Wars hotel experience has been so bad due to horrible advertisement and similar. Chepek only cared about money and to acquire it cheaply.
    I feel that with Iger back for the moment, will likely see a boost in quality both in immersion and life in the parks. It will likely be better this year, however much of Chepeks machinations are still going down the pipe so it might not be possible to stop some things in motion, at most its possible to change some to cushion the damage. Still if what we've been hearing from some. It seems that the parks will get the attention they so desperately need.

    only 1 minute in and liking the vid so far but if I may offer a tip, the background music is pretty loud over your voice and distracting enough that it makes it hard to focus on what you're saying. Could be a good idea to keep an eye on this sorta sound mixing in future videos
