I don't know if you will see this comment Aurikatarina, but i wanted to thank you and let you know that watching your videos have been so encouraging. I have a friend who has had a lot of severe health issues recently, and because of depression and trauma the past several years has been living very much like the people in your videos, with trash piled up higher than the couch. Last week, i took some time off from work, and my partner and i helped our friend to clean the apartment. It's not perfect, but it's safe now, and there's no more rotten food or fruit flies. We got a professional quote to have the cleaning done and they wanted over $7000 USD to do it. We couldn't afford that, but watching your videos and seeing how positive and cheerful you are, made me believe that we could handle the job ourselves. I was actually excited and looking forward to getting started on the cleaning, as the date approached! It took us several days, but it's manageable now. Thank you so much for sharing your cleaning videos- i just wanted you to know that you are helping not just the people whose homes you clean, but also other people who you've never even met. 💜

Honestly, that's not uncommon. Caring for someone with mental illness is difficult, isolating and exhausting. So important to take care of yourself while you care for your loved one. Also, I can absolutely believe that living in this kind of squalor can overwhelm even a healthy person and cause physical and emotional issues.

I use to clean homes thirty yrs ago and fumes can be harmful to your lungs 🫁. I have mild COPD but I also was long time smoker although I had quit 4 yrs before diagnosis. In that time period I was working with dad/Gpa in the wood shop. He restored furniture 🪑 and repaired, refinished. Those fumes didn’t help whatsoever. I think those did more harm, plus years of smoking. 🥴💝🥰

As a person who suffers from depression I can sympathise with the people you help. It’s easy for people to be judgemental when they have no experience of hitting rock bottom, but then there is you! I am amazed at the good work you do and the difference you can make in a person’s life by something as fundamental as cleaning their home. It is a huge weight off one’s mind when their surroundings are clean and comfortable and the effort you make to help people is impressive to say the least. There should be more people like you in the world.
I love hearing about the home owners reaction when they get home, it must be so lovely for you after all your hard work to know you've made such a dramatic difference in the life of someone in such a rut. Bless you.

Aurikatarina, you have positively impacted others through the way you care for hurting people. Myself included. I went and purchased a pink apron, and my favorite scrub mommies. I cleaned my house! I have mental health issues. And have had a cleaning service for about 25 years. But I feel so much better doing this myself. From one descendent of Finns to another. Thank you for having the courage to be you.
I think one of the things I love most about your videos is your confidence that the trashes can be picked up and that an overwhelming circumstance is really something that can be overcome. When you approach each person’s situation with so much kindness, excitement, and with the faith that you can turn the space back into a home, you’re giving such a gift to anyone in similar circumstances who watches your videos. I’ve read so many comments on your videos where people have been inspired to bring your joy of cleaning to places in their own lives which have been neglected due to overwhelm, depression and other life-circumstances. At first I was just sitting and watching your videos, but your enthusiasm is infectious in the best possible way. Now I am watching and “collecting the trashes” in my own space, and I am starting to see my own version of the “before” and “after” shots in your videos. Depression is a beast, I was used to having a not so different house when I was younger. It's hard to explain: you get lazy, then you start to not care for little things, then you get used to your carelessness, and you slowly don't care for bigger things. In few months you live like an animal without even realizing, but you feel too weak for fixing the problem.
Today I'm still a guy who struggles with depression but everytime I see that my house is slowly becoming a mess I react immediately and i feel very satisfied soon after: you can fight it, take the right actions at the right time, no excuses.

I wish we had floor drains here in the UK, it would make my life so much easier for cleaning. It's another example of how forward-thinking the Finns are. I laughed when I saw the empty boxes of Lapin Kulta among "the trashes". I was dating a Finn for a while and so I got to try some Lapin Kulta, which I found to be a very good beer.
The floor drains would be part of what we’d call a wetroom in the UK :) had one in my old flat, certainly made cleaning easy, but meant I only had a shower and no bath :(.

Like Aurikatariina says, start with the trashes. Picking up all the junk off the floor lets you see what you are dealing with. One step at a time. Slowly does it.

I have chronic pain and mental illness, but I also have to do most of the cleaning for three elderly family members who are less able than I am. It can be really hard to find the energy, motivation and time to clean such a large space, and I sometimes don't even know where to start, but your videos inspire me and keep me going.

We just got new furniture and had the carpets cleaned so I knew I was out of excuses…it was time to clean out the shelves in the kitchen and organize EVERYTHING.
