    Was visiting a friend in Phoenix years ago and he introduces me to his neighbor when we go out in the yard to BBQ. Jim was living next to my buddy while playing for the Cardinals. Born and raised in Chicago I was star struck inside but kept my cool as he always does, and had a great after noon. A great down to earth guy.

    My favorite QB of all-time.
    I’m a bears fan & when I was 16, they won the super bowl. It was an amazing season and this guy made it happen.
    He was injury prone and Ditka hated him, so they traded him to San Diego & I watched him win a lot of games in Philly a few years later. We could have won at least one more super bowl with him … probably 1990 or ‘91, when our QB was the only weak-link.

      @@chucklos391 Yep. Ditka was adversarial towards Jim after ‘86. Always threatening to replace him & eventually doing-it.

    • @dapunkyqb1679

      No doubt. Once the Bears started winning Ditka got a little too cocky and thought he could win with just anybody at QB.

    Da coach cost the bears at least 1 title . His ego was more important than his team winning. After Super bowl win they went 14-2. 14-2. Lost to skins. Mc hahon threw for 9500 yds and 84 tds in 2 years at BYU. With payton play action was something that was a given. Yet he wss not given the chance to use his skills. His thursday game vs vikings was all you had to see. 3 tds in 9 plays.

    Recently seen this guy on an interview talking about concussion injury that he said caused him long term harm. I'm hoping the NFL has seen him bragging about purposely head butting his buddies for fun & use that as evidence during his lawsuit against the league.

    • @dapunkyqb1679
      @dapunkyqb1679 Год назад

      Maybe, but I’m guessing his undiagnosed broken neck (lol, “mild concussion”) he sustained just before this interview may have had something to do with it too🤔

      After the most gutless cheapshot by packers Charles Martin he was never the same. Dislocated shoulder was injury. I think his neck was not looked at. My mother was from Daytona and we lived in chicago in late 50s on. My father had season tickets from 61 to 66. Iron mike was one of her favorites. She was always begged by my fathers friends for her ticket.she finally gave up a ticket cause it was a cold rainy day in 65. It was the game Sayers scired 6 TDS. Anyway she was a big fan of Mcbrat. When he was in 2nd year my mother was " we havent had a QB since Rudy Bukus? She was mad at Ditka for not letying him call plays. Then in Super Bowl she was so mad at Da Coach for not letting Walter a chance at scoring. When a mother calls out her fav guy 20 years later for not i but 2 guys who were insulted by the ego of a guy it means something.
