Woodturning- Star Pine (Norfolk Island Pine)

  • This tree was removed just down the road from my house. As soon as I saw the tree I decided to make a bowl from it. The star shape found on the inside where the limbs come together is the reason for making these turnings.

    Incredible how the tree makes such a natural star pattern I realize that's the name but I've never seen the inside to match! Another beautiful bowl Darren!

    Nice bowl Dazza mate.
    I'm not a fan of pine at all, however, those lines and branches sure do make for an spectacular looking piece.

      Thank you Mike, someone pointed out to me awhile back that this tree , though often called a pine really is not. I agree. This wood is beautiful because of those limbs making an appearance at the bottom.

      What a beauty. With the “waves” and knots and then the “star” in the bottom. It’s really lovely. It’s like those moon jellyfish
