Raymond Loewy was an industrial DESIGNER, not engineer. There a "slight" difference between the two...

Loewy balanced novelty and familiarity in his works; humans love that mix of both. Brilliant!

Nice job, I like that yall have so far stuck with more "obscure" topics. Keep it up. Also, bring back James Hamblin.

I love this channel and especially this video! It makes you view the world in a different way, which is what I look for. I'm amazed this channel doesn't have more subscribers!

In music too! you like the stuff you listened to already, or that is familiar, and you slowly but surely find yourself in different genres. As we get older, we get stuck in the same familiarity and that can stop us from exploring different options... etc.

Just read Derek's book - Hit Makers: The Science of Popularity in an Age of Distraction. Surprised there was no mention of it, as this video gives a pretty good overview of some of the key ideas. Worth a read if you're interested in diving a bit deeper!

So the ''golden radio'' makes things cool, people say it is all around us (in nature) so it is familiar to all of us. I thought about that and I think it is true, too bad not a lot of people know about it and it isn't thought in schools, universityes that study marketing (except in art, I never lerned about it, and never in a way the internet teaches you to think about it) It's a great thing to know, makes you a bit more aware of why people like some things and why you yourselve like certain things. I recommend to watch a few videos about the golden ratio, and mabey even read about it.

This doesn't tell us what is cool. Something is cool regardless of relation to your current understandings of things. An old car seen for the first time will seem cool all on its own. A cool haircut or clothing will seem as such because of what it is, not because it is familiar and different.

Good meta job, inform us on the old with a refreshing take (new information). Mostly, inform. Thank you.
Also, he's a great personality for it. I hope you'll have others as well to keep it fresh, but he's a good choice.
Also, when informing, I dare you to keep it out of the politically charged topics. We need informing on those too, but it will make the rest of your work neutral and trust worthy to the rest of your potential audience.

This is a big part of my theory of what makes music good, but it applies to all kinds of things. Weird for the sake of weird is irrational, but familiar for the sake of familiar is boring. Try to do something different but don't make it obvious that you're trying.
