Another great opportunity to test a KTM 300 on the back of the TE300 last week. The main different being the PDS vs linkage. Let us know if you have a preferred rear suspension type and why. Both great bikes and fun to ride!

I went from a 2020 EXC 300 TPI to the 2024 TE 300 tbi so not like for like... I did however had 100+hs on the TPI and I had the suspension revalved and set up for my weight and did most of my riding on the Mitas double green with tubliss.
Jumped on the TE300 '24 and the only thing I did to it was to change the clickers to Husky's soft settings. Straight away I felt incredibly comfortable with how the bike moved around! I still need to play around a bit with bars position but the suspension was very very close to dialed in and the bike felt way more planted than my TPI ever did. And that was on stock tires too. I missed the traction of the Mitas but other than that, no worries!
The Husky sits 1" lower compared to the KTM which was confirmed by both dealer before I chose the Husky. I'm 179cm tall (5-9ish?) and a lower bike definitely helps. I had the low seat on the KTM and even got a low seat for the Husky but in all honesty, it might not even need it.
I've only done 2.4hs on it as I had to wait for parts to arrive but other than the bike stalling a bit too much for my liking I'm over the moon with the bike(need to adjust idle/air screw). My main concern was the Braktech brakes but even those worked really well on my 1st go.

That's awesome.. I had the same experience with my 2020 ktm 300 exc tpi. I did all the TSP conversions on it which made it way better and mxtech lucky suspension but my new 2025 Husky TE300 is way better stock all round. And now having done the TSP remap etc it's again a lot better for me on white map.
I'm about to do some suspension mods (probably Ktech revalve etc) but like you said stock is extremely good. The 2025 eith the brembo brakes was a must for me tho.
Enjoy the ride and thanks for sharing..Cheers. 👍 💪

@@HardUNduro I was on the same boat re brembo brakes but so far no complaints. Again, only 2hs in so the jury is out on that one still.
I got the '24 for $15.7 and the 25s were $19.2... I just couldn't justify the difference. There was even a TE Pro (brembos on that one) for $17.9 but I felt like if I really wanted I could always just change the calipers and I'd still be ahead.
I can't wait to get the ERM and power valve cover but I want to do at least 20hs in stock form first so I'm able to tell the difference a little better.
I'm currently resisting (barely) fitting a set of 216MX/216SX for the same reason. Not sure how long I'll endure the stock tires tho haha

I went form a PDS to a linkage set up and I noticed the same thing, That harsh feel, almost falling into corners was from the PDS, much prefer the linkage set tup now !!

Hi Phillip, yeah it seems to be a very individual and riding style choice. Good to hear you have a set up you like!

Suspension is a must to be tuned to your weight and riding conditions. I have a 2024 300exc and Mpe suspension dialed mine in and its a different bike. Tsp- Erm tuning module also a must to tune the motor. Makes the bike lug great and puts the power to the ground. Happy Riding 🤙

100% agree. Out of interest , what suspension mods did you get? Cheers.

@HardUNduro I'm 86kg and 6'2. So they replaced the springs and revalved the front and rear to suit my riding gear weight. I ride trails and enduro stuff, and it handles awesome. So easy to adjust the settings while out on a ride, which is a plus 👌

Nice, thanks Shane. It's a great point and something it takes a lot of us a long time to learn how valuable having a bike tuned for your weight is. We always review them as standard settings because so many riders keep their bikes that way but try to keep highlighting how valuable some tuning can be!

PDS is really a single pivot in laymens terms…very simple yes but you need a great suspension tuner to get a nice compliant ride from that shock…

Would you take the Husky te300i over the xtrainer at this point in. your riding?

Haven't ridden the TE300i only the new 2025 TE300. Having said that I think Al prefers the Xtrainer and Furz is loving the early stages of the 25 husky (pending some mods). Xtrainer is an awesome beast tho. Cheers

The mx33 front tire sucks on those bikes change the tires you'll love it, also don't touch the suspension settings right away it will be stiff for a few hours until it's broken in then will be beautiful.

Agree re the mx33. This bike has easily done over 50hrs so the suspension was definately settled. Agree tho 10+hrs for new suspension to settle. Cheers.

Thanks for confirming the hight of the ktm. I’m going the husky. I would go the Beta but I’m certain I’m an alpha. 😜
    Well I’m 5”8 so I’m a pocket sized alpha.
