Mel Owens... eventually Dot Cotton... eventually Cathy Beale... i don't know the show as well as you do... those are some of the characters that i remembering having a huge impact on Albert Square in Walford... i'm sure there are lots more that i've missed... those are the ones i can remember...

Lou never hated Kathy, they didn’t always get on, but she cared about her, she would probably provide a safe haven for Kathy if things got rough with Phil

Albert Beale's gravestone inscription is wrong. Albert died in the second World War as a young man and not aged 56 in 1965 as seen on the stone. Albert's death was often referred to in lou's scenes and how she was left as a young widow.
I think throughout the series though it's always been 1965. Him dying at 58 would have still made her a young widow. The telegram in Civvy Steet, only said he was missing.

Pauline and Pete were born in 1945 as well so there’s not a chance he could have died in the war.
