Glad you got it sorted fella, yep it is always something simple with old motors.. You can buy a gadget to lock the bonnet stay so it wont come crashing down.. ruclips.net/video/fUoLihxbP8o/видео.html
I really need to see now if that 1 turn makes a difference. Thanks for the reminder with the strud for the bonnet. I got 2 laying around and will put them on tomorrow. Greetings from Cambodia. By the way. I got a 1962 Spitfire here and go through all the same issues. Thanks for your videos.
Can you send me a link where you got that new distributer from. I do not have a braķe booster an. I did a smoke test on both carbs and I have maybe a small airleak of less than 5% on the right carb but its so little it can not be the problem. I put so much smoke pressure on that the balloon popped out.
re number 2 always seems to be the problem, the firing order 1,3,4,2 gives a clue as 2 cylinder is sucking the lean mixture first and number 1 straight afterwards, therefore number 1 has the benefit of the already fully charged manifold to draw on. Good to see it all working, enjoy, and don't forget with a classic in the boot is a spare wheel and a spare everything else ;)
jet position!.... omg.... why didn[t i think of that? .... the cylinder 2 thing had me stumped too. time to enjoy.... with almost everything new you can go on a really long drive.
Rover 200 gas struts from 85 to 95 work well. There are custom made brackets on EBay which work well too. They'll need painting but are easy to fit. Total cost is 40 odd quid so half the price of kits from the main suppliers. I did post links but looks like they were removed?
Just bought a 1976 spitfire (Dad had one when I was a kid and I’m feeling nostalgic) and your videos have been SUPER helpful!!! Thanks!!
Great video
Use a jubilee clip on the bonnet stay I slide mine into position when working under the bonnet, watch your fingers.
Great video!
