to be fair,,,,, from the age of 21, I had 2 spitfires & 2 TR7's ,,, I'm just convinced my MR's we should get another,,, she's convinced I'm right,,, what a sales job i've done....
Some great points! I've been driving for 2 years now and my first car was a triumph herald! Cheep to run I found cheap to insure for a young male driver. I drove that car daily for a year and still have it. Definitely a good option for someone willing to do the Maintainence.
you've said them all.... emotional points of owning one and dollars and sense. good vid... you've got a knack for making vids like this not so boring. probably bc you don't do voice over. you verbalize as you film. cheers.
Good points. I'd also argue that reusing/recycling is much better for the planet than a newly manufactured vehicle, especially an electric one which has a huge carbon footprint
@@leer798 Lee there's loads of discussion out there about how green electric cars actually are. Not just the manufacture, but the batteries and the burning of fossil fuels to make the electricity they use. I'm not saying that electric cars won't be better in the long run, but right now I have my doubts. Plus my point is more about the Spitfire and that keeping it on the road makes sense. But I'm sure you knew all that. Happy to discuss but please be polite
Apologies I just get bored of seeing the pictures of the mines etc and people going on about them not really being green due to this and that . They are more green, and will get even more green as technology develops. I don’t believe however that it’s the future for all ! So many classic car owners are so anti electric. They really need to drive one. I own an Audi etron and it drives amazing. Just doesn’t sound amazing ! But so what - it does what it’s there for ! I’m lucky in that I have a Porsche cayman for weekend and the sound and also a mk2 escort RS2000 for my real classic fix. Best of all worlds as far as cars go. I love my classics but I’m also open minded about the future! Some people can’t move forward - if it was up to them we’d still be pulling barges with horses ! 😂
Great points . And I’m a big classic car fan and owner but …. In regards to young people owning them due to the cheap costs i disagree . I wouldn’t want my son and daughter driving an old car with hardly any protection for them unlike modern cars with crumple zones, airbags , impact protection etc. Classic cars should be owned by more experienced drivers :)
I think one of the most recent advantages of a historical vehicle is that they are also ULEZ exempt. Once the city folk catch on i suspect values will rocket 👍

@@BritSpit it’s only recently I’ve thought that way myself tbh . I used to imagine I’d restore a classic mini for my lad to learn in and have for his first car - but now I’m not so sure ! Daughter is first , next year , and it’s looking like a fiat 500 like most young girls seem to get !

Great points well made,,,,had my first spit when I was 21,,,,
All very true and makes perfect sense. I bought my first classic a few months ago and that is also a Spitfire 🙂

44 years ago though,,,, wish i'd kept the bloody thing now

She's paid her carbon debt for sure!
Yawn to the electric car comment.
Pop a link here to the evidence that each vehicle produced has a massive carbon footprint

Ah yes. ULEZ! My mate drives a C3 'vette into central london daily! No charge!
Ulez friendly as well!
