Can someone explain this rhythm to me? I can't follow it all. I'm a new drummer. I can play a lot of Fela Kuti songs on the drums, so I'm loosely familiar with Afrobeat rhythms, where the groove is all about the interplay between the snare and bass. But I don't even know where to start with Mdou Moctar.
Souleymane is the unsung hero of Mdou Moctar. Dude is a beast on the drums.
I just saw Mdou Moctar live, and he was amazing live, as was everyone else. Best concert I've ever been to.
