    What is impressive, I don't do painting, and I hit the like and subscribe before you even mentioned it. Well done sir. You mentioned about testing durability later on. I think it would be amazing if you would do that. Or paint on different materials to see how that looks along with the spoons.

    Thanks for the Test video, I know this is an old video, and I most likely will not be answered. But I have something I want to use Metallic Gold on that is made of steel & wood. I think it will do well on steel, but maybe not as good on wood. What primer should be used??? I'd say the same brand as the paint. I've used the Rustoleum Gold in the past, but I'll give Krylon's Foil Metallic Gold on some test material and see what I'll use.

    How durable was it after fully drying? Would it need a clear coat, or would the clear coat mess up the mirror finish? I have a rather large B-52 model to paint (11 foot span) and this might make a good paint for polished aluminum look.

      Guy I used to work for did a chrome Range Rover that featured in Max Power magazine, think it was first in the UK. He put lacquer straight over the chrome, no sanding.

    I have been using these with different results. 1. It never, never can be touched without being adversely affected . I have, in vain, tried to find a topcoat that will not kill the shine. Trying E7 next. 2. The copper looks nothing like copper...maybe bronze.

    • @hemipatton7799
      @hemipatton7799 2 года назад

      Agre'd! That Copper needs to be more "red-ish" in color to even be close to the cap color! Sadly, Krylon does NOT play well with others so.... the primer is a thing to NOT use in any Krylon application! I'm sad to say, I have Krylon paint, BUT I will ONLY use it on the items by them self, no other paint to even remotely get close to the Krylon paint as it reacts badly every single time! SO.... Just not sold on it....
      I myself? Prefer Rustoleum paints and much more durable PLUS, its a "real" enamel, or Lacquer paint so.... When it comes to Chrome? I got to say, Alclad is hard to beat!

    This stuff is the most metallic gold paint available. Both krylon and Rust-Oleum have several gold metallic paints some are ok and some are not metallic at all. I think krylon finally did it .I refinished a gold plated statue with it for God sakes and it looks like gold . It even out does tinted Alclad and Spastic chrome (on most less than perfect surfaces.)

    • @barbatosrex9473

    3 year old video I know, but I just tried this with the gold and mine looks nothing at all like yours.. it just looks regular old only kinda-shiny krylon gold looking metal. Is there some special spraying technique you're doing that's not visible in the video to make it more reflective? I tried it on a normal spoon and on a gloss black painted one and it looks the same on both.

  • @winstinhunter7398
    @winstinhunter7398 9 месяцев назад

    i am going to get the krylon foil metalic gold so I can finally finish a project that i started about a year ago. I atarted with a very rough cement statue that i sanded a bit and painted it with a bronze spray paint
    I decided to remake the surface as perfectly smooth as possible and spray it gold. I painted it black to reveal any flaws . Then i tried a gold spray paint that ran horribly.
    I had to resurface it again with wood puty and plaster and sand it again. Then i used a primer filler, then Duplicolor Metalic Gold which was better but the finish was not uniform gold but a speckled gold.
    I smooth sanded it and also used glazing puty and tried Duplicolor again thinking i did not shake it enough. It came out poorly again
    I honestly have lost count of how many individual coats of paint either primer filler, black or gold
    Three coats ago it was not bad but i decided to sand it again and steel wool smoothing. I again tried Duplicolor and I was not happy as the funish was worse.
    Another sanding and another tube of glazing puty and another peimer filler coat and now more smooth sanding and buffing
    This rime it will be the last time - i have said that before. But i sure hope to get a golden coating with the Krylon foil gold.
    If not i may consider having the statue gold plated

  • @evelynrose3334
    @evelynrose3334 10 месяцев назад

    I think the main reason why it looks so shiny is because the spoons are already perfectly smooth with a mirror like finish. I think if this paint wood has been sprayed on a diecast hot wheels car it wouldn’t look so good unless the car was polished to a mirror shine before hand.

    Has anyone compared the Krylon Metallic Gold Leaf with this Gold Foil? The Gold Leaf turned out too light and bright and am looking for a little darker antique gold look.

    These must be better than their other ones then. The one marked "14k Gold" for example is nothing like the Cap and comes out flat and flaky looking. Useful as a candy coat base. But definitely doesn't look metal.
    The Chrome one is likewise terrible, goes on so thick it's almost impossible not to get orange peel/.
