    Oh my god!!! The boesemanis are from my country!!! No wonder I felt so attracted to them. Here I am admiring their beauty and not knowing that they're from right here. Thanks for the shutout 🇸🇷 #proud #surinamese . You just got yourself a new subscriber.

    I love the stories about people going to areas and going and getting what they want. That's pretty cool. I really like the videos with more info on the species. And the back stories.

    Hi Kevin. How come the boesemani on 5:00 and 09:00 and 11:00 look so different. I had a male boesemani like the ones on 11:00 but always thought it was a hybride. Is it because of the quality? Or more like they are caught in different rivers or so?

    I understand it is hard to find a comparison for such aggressive behavior, but pit-bulls really arent that bad if brought up in the correct conditions. Most find them to be wonderful pets. Unfortunately dog fighting rings have given them bad reputations for such sweet dogs. I hope you have a great day either way though! happy holidays!

    Hey Kevin. I thought at first the aggressive ray on the right was aggressive because he’s missing an eye. But then you showed us the one on the left, and he’s not missing an eye. You said the aggression is unique to that type of ray. Do you think it’s just genetics?

    • @StingrayBiology
      @StingrayBiology  5 лет назад

      It's specific to this species. The one with no eye was wild caught like that. It didn't happen in my tanks.

  • @taeviansworldofreptiles3828
    @taeviansworldofreptiles3828 5 лет назад

    I don't like that you use pitbulls. They get a bad enough rep without people constantly referring to every bad tempered aggressive animal to pitbulls which are actually really sweet species. Human make them aggressive they are not by nature.

      Tropical fish are caught from the wild all the time throughout the world. 95% of saltwater fish is wild caught. Freshwater are both wild caught and captive bred. The breeding we do helps to relieve the pressure of over harvesting wild caught fish.

      Only breeder? I have never heard of a large fish breeder that doesnt take something from the wild. About 50% of monster fish are wild caught.

    I guess when they are younger they are far more vulnerable so stay the colour of the substrate but as they get bigger they don't have so much reason too hide
