We had also Lister 1cyl generator when I was young lad. 1971-1975 in our old home. I was 11 year old when I need to start generator befor I went to school if I wanted to repractise my homeworks. It was very hard to start when we had here in Finland -25 Celsius temperature. It was our only source for electricity on that time.
you don't need to give it that many turns prior to starting it as long as you hear the screech of the injector after a couple of turns you can speed up and it flick the decompressor down
