Finally an EV that looks like a car. Well done Honda! There is no ugly duck face, no spartan interior, no asymmetrical exteriors. Honda has a nice interior, driver display and physical buttons. 11kW home charging is a guarantee for affordable driving. Next test with summer tires and original rims, no need to explain.

They definitely priced it wrong, and i think they are realizing. They released it at 50k euro in Denmark, which they sold none of. They lowered the price twice, and now it sits at 34k euro which makes it actually a decent purchase as such a cheap price. Niro, Ioniq5 etc. are all at least 10k more now.

    • @oliverskinner8962
      @oliverskinner8962 3 дня назад

That's nice for you but back in reality our 2016 30jwh Leaf had not 1 not 2 but 3 BMS updates and 11 battery bars like yours but at 60 mph or less we could only get 68 miles at 10°c in late autumn early winter when we first got the car 6 months old as an ex demonstrator it had 11 bars but could go 110 miles is it not corporate fraud on Nissan's part that a BMS update robbed 40 miles of range while showing the same number of bars 11 after 6 years and 78,000 miles of use ? I believe the bars were a lie after the BMS updates and we should have been entitled to a new battery. Leaf spy was saying there was only 19 kWh left and the car could charge from 10% to 90% in 20 minutes. Having owned the car from nearly new we could tell it wasn't the same car it used to be and we got rid of it before the used EV prices crashed. I believe I'm entitled to compensation when I said these things in the Nissan Leaf Facebook group my posts got removed and I got banned funny that isn't it before I was kicked out I had a small number of people agreeing with me and they too had experienced the same things I had and to top it off and really prove they where fudging the numbers the car's BMS gave false m/kWh readings claiming we should have got more range out of the energy used than we actually did or to put it more simply it would say 4.7m/kWh and when you work it out with leaf spy or with how much charge you've put in the car it would be 3.7m/kWh a whole 19 miles less on the 19kwh usable we had left however when we first got the car the efficiency was more accurate.

My biggest concern has to do with CCS implementation - Honda E loves to die at chargers more than 50kw (particularly Telsa supercharger and BYD chargers), not surprised as E was originally developed for Chademo. That's said given this car was originally developed in China (TV Tokyo has a documentary) several years ago (hence not surprised by the performance), which also uses a Chademo-derived DC charging protocol, it doesn't inspire confidence, particularly given the lack of support over E (of course - the E was an abandoned project ever since it's completion as the project chief left for Suzuki, and the platform not used as Honda has moved on for the dedicated EV platform from 2025).

There are many different reasons why Honda is not making real progress when it comes to e-mobility.
Honda's market is in Asia and the USA. The European market doesn't really mean much for Honda.
Europe wants electric cars, but Honda and the Japanese are simply not feeling the pressure.
Too many combustion engines and hybrids are still sold in Asia and the USA, so the Japanese continue to focus on them.
Honda is and has always been known for the high quality and manufacturing of engines and driving-related parts.
I only drove Honda's during the combustion era and never had a single problem. It doesn't matter whether the car was new or 18 years old. He always drove and they were all efficient.
So it's disappointing what Honda is currently delivering.
The new Honda Eny 1one is a Japanese developed vehicle that is built in China to reduce costs in Europe. The Honda E was still built in Japan and only in small series, so it was absurdly expensive.
Honda will continue to be behind when it comes to electric cars for the next few years, but if these E Hondas are even halfway as robustly manufactured as the combustion engines. At least they will last a long time.
So if charging performance is unimportant and you prefer the durability of the components, you would be well served with a Honda.

This car is actually developed in China too, but with input from Japanese engineers, there is a documentary of this by TV Tokyo. Really the point of it is to bridge the gap before the completely ground-up EV comes to live in 2025 (with cost in mind of course - hence in the US it's GM rebadge for now), while meeting the EV quota by gov as well as avg fleet CO2. Given the fact the vehicle was developed and on sale in China several years ago anyways, I'd say I'm not disappointed nor impressed performance-wise - not that I'll buy one of course. In addition, also to note the HR-V/Jazz is already a generation behind platform-wise, they didn't get the latest modular HA (Honda Architecture - used by new Civic, ZR-V etc.) due to Honda needed to refresh them before it was ready - the road noise is a testimony to that.
Honda seems slow at the moment not because things are not happening, instead it is because too much is going on in the background: 8 battery programmes ongoing for example (6 liquid battery JV/Partership, 1 semi-solid state and 1 solid-state). JV with Sony for EV, partnership with Isuzu for Hydrogen commercial vehicles, commercial Kei programme, swappable E-moped programme etc. In addition, there's also the drive to develop things in-house (with the increased stake in Hitachi Astemo - who made the very efficient drivetrain in MX-30 which Bjorn praised as it has little loss at high speed) instead of buying off-the-shelf. It has already declared to completely shift to EV and HCV by 2040 (however EV has the biggest share of investment atm), not to mention the current CEO has always specialised in eco-cars ever since he joined in 1987, he himself also did the NSX EV for the Hillclimb back then (and is supervising the next one). The fact Honda has recently offloaded Yachiyo - the supplier Honda had close relationship since Soichiro Honda's time - shows its commitment, as 80% of Yachiyo's sales come from fuel tanks.

Apparently it's a really re badged GMs.. . I'm guessing it's the Equinox With exterior styling changes,,, and some other interior changes, including functionality. As Bjorn keeps telling us.. & proving to us.. that Tesla are better than any other EV, in most ways why would you not just buy a Tesla.

      Well, 1 name: Elon Musk.
He’s the main reason I will never buy a Tesla.

I understand ...you're either a lover or a hater.. Personally I don't give a s*** either way about Elon.. And therfore my logic brain would buy a Tesla as Bjorn preaches to us, it's the best car.. I do understand cos my dad was very disgusted when I bought German cars he was in WW2.. So we ended up buying French cars that continually break down 😅 so when he has left this earth we bought Honda Civic.. The most reliable car I have owned in 45 years.. But which also he would have been disgusted with being Japanese.

@gregchristie2763 I understand your logic and yes Tesla is a good car. Reason I bought (and absolutely love our Ioniq5) is it is more like a car and less like driving a computer. We have a 2022 I5 Ultimate trim AWD and it is an excellent car. We wrack up an average of 1000km per week on it and it does everything we need in a car.
It all boils down to personal preferences! 😂
