And for some more loathe, check out Screaming, I let it in and it took everything..., Heavy is the head that falls with the weight of a thousand thoughts and Broken Vision Rhythm!
I think that's the magic of Loathe for me. The blend of frantic Dillinger Escape Plan-esque heaviness but with the haunting ambient moments of Deftones swirled together. You could tell they were building to it on their last two records and then they hit us with this record and everyone had a collective sigh of "....yeah there it is"
@@Roguenjosh They have a pretty big discography so I will do my best to sum it up: They are considered pioneers of the "math metal" genre. Their first record "Calculating Infinity" is a balls to the wall fury of complex metal. For example of that record check out "43% burnt" since it was the standout single for most people. As their career went on they really pushed themselves to maintain that signature sound but really mastered the use of dynamics to offset the reckless abandon of their debut and by the end (they called it quits in 2016) they had a much more diverse and dynamic style that was still immediately recognizable. Highlights of that more dynamic style would be "One of Us is the Killer" or "Farewell Mona Lisa".
Definitely check out aggressive evolution next, very similar to new faces in the dark and has an insane breakdown. Loving the loathe reactions!!! Would you ever consider doing a full album reaction to “I let it in and it took everything”? This entire album is on constant replay for me it’s sick. Edit: Also I’m going to see them live for the first time at the philly show in November and I’m fucking pumped!!
If you want pure heavy, listen to Heavy Is the Head That Falls With the Weight of a Thousand Thoughts. If you want more ambience, check out Is It Really You? Or if you want a mix of the two, check out either Screaming or I Let It In and It Took Everything... or just check out the whole album it’s so good.
Loathe are beautiful, you really have to listen to their albums in full to understand what they're about and get the whole atmosphere of their music. It's amazing.
You should react to White Hot if you haven't heard it already! It's older but it's got the same mix of heavy and clean vocals and it's honestly phenomenal. They're also the greatest dudes and they smash it live every time
It's got to be I Let It In And It Took Everything now for me, such a great song and kind of the apotheosis of everything the band has done so far. Screaming and Aggressive Evolution also valid choices, but I think the title track is where it's at
@@Roguenjosh I mean I'm a huge Loathe stan so obviously I'm going to say yes lol. It is a really good album though, flips things up on you throughout and goes to a lot of different places. I don't think you'll be disappointed - it would be interesting to see how you feel about Two Way Mirror on a second listen after the (much heavier) tracks that play before it as well
Look whoever you are I don’t just suddenly start reacting to a band because some guy in a weird hat tells me to! It’s not like you’re ryley mabbo… oh, sorry sir what song would you like?
Dude, full album listen, when? This album will change your fuckin' life, mate. I swear it. I recommend listening without pauses or buffering for the full effect.
@@Roguenjosh before loathe i couldnt get into heavier stuff, im mostly a post-hardcore guy. but THIS? it's just too good. that breakdown is just unreal
I let It In And It Took Everything at its core is a concept album each song is structured in a way that it serves its purpose wherever its placed, the songs themselves are pieces of a puzzle and while some pieces don't make sense without the full picture some are easier to interpret on their own which is why New Faces In The Dark is easier to understand compared to Two Way mirror and gored but it all makes perfect sense when you listen to the album as a whole and you are able to see the picture in full
If you like this, you should check out their other song "It's Yours" from their older album Cold Sun. It is also a mix and one of my favorites from them.
If you want the opposite of this song (more singing, with a bit of screaming) listen to “Screaming”. More heavier, “Heavy Is the Head that Falls with the Weight of a Thousand Thoughts”. More soft, “Is It Really You?” or “A Sad Cartoon”.
And for some more loathe, check out Screaming, I let it in and it took everything..., Heavy is the head that falls with the weight of a thousand thoughts and Broken Vision Rhythm!

@@Roguenjosh you should definitely check out DEP
Hell yes! Loathe is so good, love the blending of the mellow and heavy!
They do it perfectly
Aggressive Evolution and I Let It In And It Took Everything are my favorites by them, followed by this one. Really sick stuff 🤘
Such a good band

They’re coming to my city next year and I’m heaps keen!
@@Roguenjosh yeah with while she sleeps right? loathe played their first show with sleeps and my old band. How time flies
I didnt get it at first either, but boy do i get it now. Checking out more for sure.
Yup!

If you’re going to check out another single by them, white hot is “clean cut” heavy to vibey chorus with a sick guitar solo.

Heads up Josh, Loathe are touring Australia with While She Sleeps July next year (including an Adelaide gig by the looks)
YEAH I SAW!!!! HOW GOOD!!!!!

I’ll be seeing them live soon!!!

They're kinda like Deftones if they got permanently stuck in the Koi No Yokan era and the Self Titled era at the same time.
The band car bomb secrets within
It’s funny how some band names are such a turn off
Bro I’m eating a salad but loathe as one 🤟
It BLOWS my mind no one has suggested A Sad Cartoon yet, the entire album is AMAZING tho so just listen to the whole damn thing lmao
