Thanks for the video, For a patient going for surgery with NEWS score of 0, is it okay to write the monitoring frequency 1 hourly since the patient is going for surgery?
The NEWS chart standard is guided by its policy, this remain unchanged. But in situations where you need more frequency of monitoring, you can verbalise the timing as required, but go by the NEWS standard frequency on your documentation. The timing for Post-operative monitoring have it's. policy
Are we suppose to increase pulse and breathing rate according to the scenario ? As the actor would be having normal rate if we measure their pulse and breathing.
Please, do you document anything on the assessment chart I mean( candidate notes) aside the NEWS score chart or any additional chart as based on the condition
Hi, if you have an actor you will record exactly the value you got, it is advisable to write it to avoid error. If you have a manikin, the Assessor will give you the values.
@@unifiedosce5580 thank you for your reply. So won’t the real actors vital observations be within normal range that way since he they don’t really have the condition. Just need clarification pls
Hi, if on oxygen, you still use scale one , record the no of litres in the column for O2 in l/min and the device used for administration of O2 e g nasal cannula as (NC) non-rebreather mask as (NRM)However, as at now, you are not likely to have a patient on O2 in OSCE . You only use scale 2 if it is stated on your scenario that patient should be on scale 2 and this is only prescribed by a qualified clinician e.g for COPD pt etc.
Please i want to know if it is acceptable to be in your gloves while documenting because I could confirm that you touched the patient with your gloved hand and then go ahead documented with the same gloved hand. Thank you
Hi the illustration on starting oxygen is not reffering to your OSCE, but in a clinical setting and did state that it will be escalated. It depends on the situation and policy where you work, but oxygen can be commenced in emergency situation and escalate for review and prescription by the medical team.
Weldone ma you are doing well God bless you. Please me i already pass My cbt which will be expiring in july. I came into the UK via student route And i want to write My OSCE by June but i don’t know if i Can write it with out ielts or OET result please kindly let me know so i Can book a One on One training with you. Thanks
Hi, Yes you can write OSCE, but you will not get your pin to practice without passing the English language test. At the moment Unified is not offering one on one training. Thanks for your comments.

Hi, Actors can act to breathe faster. If you have a manikin , you will be given the values. Count carefully what you see or feel.
@@unifiedosce5580 Thankyou for the response.
Elegantly put together
Please is use of glove and apron compulsory in assessment?
Hi, it depends on the centre. If required, you will be informed by the Assessor.
@@unifiedosce5580 okay. Thanks for your response
Should we explain to the examiner about the findings at the end of the assessment?
Your examiner is in the same room so they can hear all you're saying.
@@unifiedosce5580 thank you.😍
plsease after checking the blood pressure,i taught you will ask the asseser for the findings since you are working on the mennache.
Hi, Yes, if you have a Mannequin. But if you have an actor, you verbalise your values as you go along.
How did you come about giving him a score of 3 for respiratory rate please.
Hi, the respiratory rate is 26 c/m. You can please watch Unified video on scoring your NEWS chart .
In OSCE, do we need to write sonething on the ADL assessment sheet? Are we going to fail if we dont write anything in that sheet?
No, it is not compulsory. The information written on the ADL is for your information. It will not be scored.
Please, do you document anything on the assessment chart I mean( candidate notes) aside the NEWS score chart or any additional chart as based on the condition
Hi, Yes but any notes documented on candidate notes will not be assessed.
For assessment vital signs do we ask the assessor for the figures or we record the real vitals of the actor we get

Hi Lauren, sometimes you have actors that can mimic abnormal condition.
@@unifiedosce5580 ohh noted. Bless you
Ma please is this applicable to asthmatic patient?
Is it okay to take vitals signs first and then you can proceed to A -E?
Hi, Yes, it is ok, what is important is to cover every aspect.
Hi mam, what about the air entry?
Hi, you can check by placing both hands at the diaphragm, instructing your patient to inhale and exhale while you check for any deviation.
@@unifiedosce5580 thankyou, so Is heart failure patients has equal air entry or not, if dyspnoec
Well presented ma

Hi, Assessment is a clean procedure . At the moment, you do not need PPE in Assessment. Just follow your 5 moments of hand hygiene.
Are u certain this wouldn't take more than 20 minutes?
The explanation is for teaching purpose.
Please time yourself and practice within the span of 13 minutes.
You are lovely
I was told we dont go ahead to administer oxygen if it has not been prescribed
