Do you see the similarity between Parmenides' journey to the Goddess and Jung's journey through the mysterium? Comment your thoughts below... I appreciate the support!

Being that language is but patterns of sound used to convey concepts....then yes, clearly they were both attempting to describe the same experience.

Beautifully articulated. A friend recently introduced me to Peter Kingsley. I watched an interview with Kingsley on RUclips, and felt he was a bit too academic. But this presentation was much more dynamic and engaging. The quotes given from "Reality" and "Catafalque" have piqued my interest in reading Kingsley. Thank you so much for the thought and care put into this video.

Marvelous, thank you. Regarding further understanding of Fragment 17 at 1:08-Left is feminine. Right is masculine. Both the ida as considered in acupuncture and in kundalini work are feminine. The pingala and the yang, masculine. This is with reference to the traditional feminine and masculine qualities, not genders. When meditating or interpreting dreams, consider carefully left-right movements or placements. As, for example, a woman facing you, her left is to your right. In imagery, even great paintings may be so interpreted, the artist’s subconscious so placing elements of the painting. As you gaze at the image-painting, imaginal image, dream remembered, or vision presenting-consider the lefts and the rights. What you see straight ahead is the here and now. What’s on the left or coming from the left is the past. What’s on the right or going to the right is the future. So in a dream if your Self is telling you that your Shadow work is not quite complete, the dream you or archetype of you will be moving to the left-perhaps, for example, reaching to the left in a closet, searching for something. If the action is to your right as you gaze, your Self is trying to tell you something about the future or a course of action that would benefit you if only you would take it. And yes, your left-right as you gaze is the opposite of a dream figure gazing at you. But, nonetheless, decades of dream and imagery interpretation have led me to believe that even dreaming, Self is self-centered because your left as you gaze does indeed represent your past, while the right is your future. In sheer numbers I’d say most dreams have action to the left. When Shadow work is well advanced, or dream-you wants you to focus on the present, then you’re looking straight ahead. When an image comes from the right as it pops into your mind, consider the possibility you’re seeing some future. That might be a precognition or simply a future possibility your Self is offering you. A recent dream: Straight ahead of me is a rectangular window with one clear pane of glass. The framing all around is broad and painted brilliant white. As I gaze I notice that the vertical panel to my left is marred, a small, lowermost portion of it brown, paint peeled, showing the wood beneath, the lowest part even looking water rotted. While in the dream as I examine the left side, I wonder if I should replace the whole board. Then I consider that as in reality, the marred part might be chiseled out and replaced, no need to replace the entire vertical board. The dream ends. Interpretation: Gazing out a widow commonly is picturing your looking from one side to the other side. If you’re seeing a dead loved one through the window, you’re “seeing the Other Side.” If the imagery and action suggest it, you’re “seeing the other side” of some matter. If the glass is cloudy, you’re not seeing something that is right in front of your eyes. In my dream I interpret the flawed left side to mean that something from my past, like some understanding or idea, some matter concerning emotion (water) is not solid or whole and pristine. It must be cut out or replaced. Then the entire framework will be strong, a solid frame through which to see. Yeah. Doing this work for 50+ years and I’m still rotten. Sigh. More chiseling. Blessings all.

Masterpiece of a video. But the description of the poem fits the Temple of the Goddess Demeters in Eleusis, more than Apollo. And the way to which it describes describes the pilgrimage from Athens to Eleusis. Even the chasm to which he describes being caused by the opening of the doors to the temple are there to be seen. Marvel my friends.

Parmenides's journey has parallels in a lot of stories throughout history and different mythic/religious traditions. it's a pretty distinct mystical theme. i find it fascinating the similarities in dreams and visions certain "big people" throughout history are reported to have experienced. the links are there, tied together by the stories we tell each other.

I see it as an individual effort…initiation…to develop within oneself. There is no “way” to this kind of “meditation “… it is truly thingless. So, practicalities should be impossible to find in this world, because it is of ‘another’ (inner) world.

The all is in the one. Is initiation for everyone? This is the question haunting me since reading Kingsley’s autobiographical Book of Life in which he details his “dying before death.” How much is demanded of the individual before the veil is rent and the truly real can be experienced? Kingsley seems to answer “everything and even that is not enough.” So where does that leave us? Are all spiritual paths delusion, even Hermetic magic or Gnosticism? I hope not. And what is the place in this of entheogens? Anyone?

  • @sigigle

It's astonishing that Parmenides is considered the founder of Ontology (the study of the nature of being), and modern philosophy STILL hasn't reached the level of understanding he attained.
    1) Existence MUST be eternal, for nothing can emerge from nothing, as it would have no means to.
    2) Everything that happens MUST happen an infinite number of times, for anything that can happen if given enough time WILL happen, and as that time is infinite, it MUST happen an infinite number of times.
How much grief can be relieved when you know with certainty that you and your loved ones who have passed on, and your moments with them, are in truth permanent features of an eternal existence?

Help me please. My life changed since I read Reality by Kingsley. I can't say if it's for the better. I always imagined that in my search for truth, once I find it, it will devastate me. It kinda has, Parmenides' teaching just intuitively makes sense but it's scary.
What do I do, if there's nowhere to go because everything is already here now. If there's no transcendental reality to get away to, a goal so to say. Then what's the point?
I have since then learned to appreciate the moment like never before but is that it? Like Peggy Lee's song "is that all there is?"
I realize that I already answered my question just by asking it. All is. All. But it felt so hopelessly good in a sense to believe that there was somewhere seperate to go to.
Idk man maybe I'm misunderstanding the whole thing, I hope so

All is good, but I don't understand the obsession with the word quantum. Is it connected with quant physics, or is it an entirely different concept just taking the word "quantum" ultimately losing the words meaning? In any case it must be explored in depth, from both standpoints, physical and metaphysical lest it falls to unchallenged scrutiny. Because without elaboration it falls with the same problem most people delving in these topics make via Apophenia. Such claims need empiric evidence, not detuctive, if they are to hold any meaning in the subject. Otherwise, very good work. There are similarities, but I think there are more connections with general cultural knowledge throughout the time not just between these individuals.

Don't be disheartened by the shallow mimicry of modern philosophy my friend! Some of us still see philosophy as an inquiry into nature, not only the nature of thought. Certainly not ideas others have spent a long time on. What is that suggesting about our view of past intellectuals?
The age of illusion is coming to an end as divine bonds are forged in the cosmic realm, beyond the scope of our physical limitations. Not beyond the thought of truth seekers devoted to their quest into the essence.
Without doing anything we are still something. What does that mean for the absolute nihilism of materialism?
It makes materialism the veil, a curtain of fascination, distracting us from divine connections if we reach beyond the doctrines of skepticism.
Seccades are a reflection of the brain unconsciously at work. A fast way to begin shaping these underlying patterns is to imagine a ball rolling slowly round each eye socket in a sideways figure 8, follow it with your eyes. Keep slowing the pace to ease the flickering of tensions. Practice it until it becomes your seccade pattern.
    Live your best life.
