As a mom of 2, I say let milk be the only food you worry about for as long as possible - don’t worry about solids until after 6 months, and keep solids as simple as possible too. Feed them what you’re eating. Don’t overcomplicate it. It can quickly get very overwhelming!
We took both of our children everywhere with us. Both my kids are sounds sleepers . Whatever feels right to you is probably the best thing for Maverick. 💙
Also, I experienced such greasy hair for about the whole first year postpartum! I remember waking up and my hair would feel literally wet, and I had just washed it the day before! It eased up when my baby turned 1! Love chatting about Mom content and seeing you as a Mom!! 💖🤩
Every baby is so different. We started our daughter on food at 4 months with her doctor's approval. She was so ready. She's almost 5 months now and eats great. But do what feels most comfortable for you as his mother! ❤
Ahh Rachel!! I love this so much and you are such an inspiration to me and so many other people. You are so fun to watch and I love all your videos. You are such a ray of sunshine and I can’t wait to see more content from you. You are such an amazing mom to maverick and I love seeing you interact with him and it’s so fun! Ilysm and I hope you’re having an amazing day 💕
Here to say I’ve been doing 12/3/30 for like two years now and the only way I get through them is watching your vlogs 😂 I specifically save your vlogs for my workout lol 😂
My daughter's pediatrician recommended starting pureed foods at her 4 month appointment too! I remember after I went out and bought 2-3 Gerber puree cups like apple, sweet potatoes, and green bean and some baby spoons. And just for fun I put her in her high chair maybe that same week? And spoon fed her a few tries of sweet potato and she loved it! It wasn't too much, just kind of dipping our feet in and then I feel by 5-6 months she was gobbling up spoonfuls! 😋 Definitely it's up to how you feel and if they start to show interest in what you're eating, I'd give it a whirl! I think more solid foods like chopped strawberry pieces and crackers for my girl came a little later, maybe around 7 months? But she loved the pureed foods around 4-6 months! Then she wanted to start picking up bits and pieces and Ritz crackers and was over me spoon feeding her first Birthday! Lol. But I definitely kept her formula going as usual and changed nothing there. Just a fun little addition to start trying different flavors and textures for fun! Hope this helps! Maverick is such a doll baby!! 😍👶🏼💙
At ~about~ 6 months baby boy started showing interest in what we were eating (staring, smacking, reaching) and he was sitting up independently. We started with baby led weaning via Solid Starts although it was more him exploring the food versus having it for sustenance. He liked a mix of table food, pouches/purees, and the baby oatmeal. My goal was to introduce him to what we were eating & a straw cup but bottles were still the main meals. Now, at 14 months, we have whole milk in a straw cup first thing in the morning, water during the day in a straw cup, and goal is to mix the bed time bottle of whole milk in the next month. His nutrients primarily come from food now and I mostly just cut up or prepare what I’m eating in a way that he can eat safely!
Mav is just the cutest baby ever! With all 3 of my babies, I always started when they were sitting on their own and that usually was around 6/7 months. They all ended up having little teeth around then and were super grabby at my food whenever I ate.
as an older sis (basically 2nd mom) of three girls 4, 2.7 and 1 yrs old. my mom introduced purée food at 5ish closer to 6months. she started with both oatmeal cereal and fruits/veggies but they all eventually favored the fruits/veggies over the oatmeal loll. you can start with a smashed banana, avocado or sweet potato. the girls also loved my moms whole made applesauce(plain), it’s really easy to make i’m sure there’s a recipe or youtube video! ps you’re the best mama 🩵
Try getting a regular swing for him (Greco) they seem to love it way more than the mamaroo. It made it so much easier to clean or cook dinner or relax because they loved swinging in it for awhile
Started food between 5/6 months! I think doing a hybrid between purees and BLW was the best! Took the pressure off and allows you and baby to have a little bit more fun with it! I recommend introducing peanut butter and eggs pretty soon into the solid journey to help prevent allergies :)
I have an 8 month old, we started solids at 6 months. The first month was not consistent with food, she would kinda play with it and taste it but show displeasure lol. Now she’s devouring food. Takes a little while to get used to it
Hi Rachel! Idk if anyone wrote this already but my pro Lulu tip for bras is to get a bigger cup size and not overall size. Seems you would have a better fit from one of their C/D cup styles and not A/B. I personally take an 8 in C\D styles and I find it gives more cup space without making the band too big. 😊
I started giving my son solids around 5.5 months, mostly oat cereal because he had all the signs of readiness - good head control / sitting up, interest in food etc - but also because he was drinking a ton of formula and I wanted to fill him up a bit more. Quickly progressed to purées like sweet potato peas etc. By 6/7 months we were doing finger foods and letting him feed himself which I felt was important but we never really went crazy with baby led weaning (meaning we didn’t give him like a chicken leg to eat himself lol). Also introduced allergens early which was recommended by my ped - nuts eggs etc
Hey Rachel! For hormonal acne I recommend Love Wellness clear skin probiotic! (Maybe check with your dr before taking it to make sure it’s safe with like breastfeeding?) But it has made a crazy difference in my hormonal breakouts! It contains Zinc which is anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial so I think that’s why it works better than other probiotics I’ve tried 😅 hope this helps!
I followed exactly when my baby’s Dr. said to start introducing food other than breast milk and formula. It’s definitely best not to rush it. I started with rice cereal, then the other baby cereals one at a time to make sure there are no food allergies, which is why it’s best to only introduce any new baby food one at a time.
Our natural doctor told us to start baby tasting foods at 4 months, so not bites, just tastes. She said studies show the sooner you introduce common allergens, the lower the odds of them having allergies to those foods. Just make sure you have some liquid baby benedryl on hand first. Have fun with it and if he's not into it, take a break for about 2 weeks and then try again! Also, try the same foods a couple weeks later if he doesn't like them and keep trying, it can take them time to like foods, so don't think he'll never like it if he's not into it at first. Don't worry if he doesn't want much in the beginning :)
Food before one is just for fun. I skipped oatmeal and rice cereal. They usually pack on the pounds for babies and have no nutritional value. Also chance of lead exposure. I did baby lead weaning and I’m so glad I did. 1-baby will be less picky when older 2-great for softening gums (tooth breaking less painful) 3-more convenient for you. Solid Starts is a great app to have if you need guidance.
I didn’t start foods until my baby was 6 months. I didn’t feel she was ready until then. They need to have good head control and be able to sit up unassisted! I was in no rush and I’m so happy I didn’t put that stress on me so early on. Baby is now 7 months. We had started with purées but we are starting to introduce baby lead weaning and she is way more interested in real food rather than it all mushed up lol!!
I think we’re gonna wait til ours is 6 months & skipping cereal! I might do some homemade purées to start with, but mostly blw just eating what we eat.
Let your baby decide! I’m about to have my second and we started about 8-10 months old for my first. If they don’t get excited by food early on, they don’t want it.
Hey beautiful , I started giving my babies purée/gerber at 5 to 6 months.☺️ Mav is getting so big! And he’s really adorable!🧸 (The twin rattan beds are gorgeous!😍)
What about a playpen in that spot where the 4 moms bouncer is and In living room and maybe put the toys in it when maverick is not in it. Or you can also put in a stand up shelf with the straw cubes for mavericks toys on the other side for his toys so his playpen stays free.
I said before i had two boys totally different on when i started solids. 1st one was a big boy started at weeks with cereal he was just hungry and milk was not enough. My 2nd one was not as hungry was very late started at 5mo or 6mo and kept him on formula for almost 2 years for extra nutrients. Each child is different. I raised my granddaughter and she was probably started solid kinda young to, of course she was the only one that never slept through the night without a bottle in the middle of the night for over a year.. He would probably enjoy the old fashion swing. You decide on your own you know your child the best. I grew up and 60’s and our moms didn’t have formula and our generation had the least amount of allergies. So go figure . Hugs to you, i miss my mom so much 😢❤
I started 5 m giving some avocado, took a couple tries and they spit it out at first but keep at it. Avocado isn’t really sweet or too savory it’s a nice in between to start
Don’t feel pressured to do the 100 days of new foods. Be realistic and make the food you make baby appropriate for him. Baby’s have a gag reflex when trying new foods so don’t be alarmed :) Start with the baby cereal, steam and puree veggies, fruits and soups. Also it’s fine to buy the purées made at the store :) I have a toddler and will have a newborn soon so this is all from experience.
Your hips and ribcage can actually permanently widen after having a baby. I know mine did! Doesn’t mean that you’re “bigger”, but that could be why your jeans aren’t fitting like they used to. Again, you look healthy and beautiful, stop putting that pressure on yourself.
Are we the same person. I am a basketball coach wife and every time my mom leaves I ball my eyes out. I’m such a baby and I’m in my 30s.. it never gets easy.
I love watching your content Rachel🫶🏼 I just wanted to say that I’m a pediatric occupational therapist that specializes in feeding, and I often work with new moms to make that journey easier with all things baby development, feeding including :) I have a Starting Solids course that I can send you if you want! It brings our moms ease with the fun and scary parts of feeding. We typically recommend starting between 4-6 months, once cleared by your pediatrician. Starting earlier, when they’re ready, leads to better and less picky eating in the future! You’re doing great 🤍
I love an hour from my parents and still cry everytime I leave them/they leave me. Just shows how much love you all have for each other! ❤️
As a mom of 2, I say let milk be the only food you worry about for as long as possible - don’t worry about solids until after 6 months, and keep solids as simple as possible too. Feed them what you’re eating. Don’t overcomplicate it. It can quickly get very overwhelming!
As a mom of 5 I agree
100% agree!
Love this advice!!
Maverick is such a good boy. He is chilling listening to his mommy vlogging. Just being carried. He is so cute.Say hi to fam and girls! 💕!

this is so true!!!
My boy was the same way and the baby bumbo or nuby seat is a GAME changer!

Introduced purées and soft foods around six months when they can fully sit up on their own!!
I have an 8 month old, we started solids at 6 months. The first month was not consistent with food, she would kinda play with it and taste it but show displeasure lol. Now she’s devouring food. Takes a little while to get used to it

Honestly, my son wasn’t interested in anything but milk & I didn’t start him with much until he was one. I also loved the haakaa baby fruit feeders ❤
Can you please link the curtains in your living room?
I started 5 m giving some avocado, took a couple tries and they spit it out at first but keep at it. Avocado isn’t really sweet or too savory it’s a nice in between to start

not sure if you watch chloe wen but she’s also in nashville and is a new mom and i feel like y’all would hit it off.
I started food around 4 1/2 months, just trying a few things with baby led weaning and then puree. My son is now 10 months and lovessss food 😋 😂

Love Maverick, but I’d like to see more about your dogs.

Cereal at 4 months and then full baby led weening at 6 months!
That's what we did! My girl is 18 months today, and is such a foodie haha
4 months rice cereal
I had a question.
6 months sitting up on their own for food
