A solid, well-rounded Direct. Pyra and Mythra were the stars of this show, no doubt, but I think we have a suitable collection of games to look forward to, regardless of tastes. Probably no GOTY material, but good games to keep things moving along until some heavy hitters are unveiled later on.
I sense Nintendo's still holding it's best cards for the time being, so this was just to remind us that it still has these kinds of Directs in its repertoire for later.

@꧁ Joshua Schaefer ꧂ I suppose you have a point. I wasn't trying to downplay the Splatoon 3 announcement here; I was quite surprised by it myself, actually. Be that as it may, I was actually referring to something we could see this year and involving one of Nintendo's top-tier franchises (I don't think Splatoon's *quite* there yet, but it's making strides).
But yes, it's only natural to have some hype-worthy to cap off such a presentation, and S3 did that job here.
Nah man, if Project TS is anything like Octopath that'll be a masterpiece of a game.
@@KingKP96 I respect your enthusiasm for the Triangle Strategy and its spiritual predecessor of sorts, but I'm not sure if Nintendo is banking on the game having THAT kind of impact, especially from a commercial perspective. Naturally, this doesn't mean that SRPG fans can't be excited about it, but we can be sure it's not going to have the ability to sell out Switch consoles or something to that effect.
The best we can hope for is that it gives the genre new life, which would be a great thing in itself. But that's about as high of a bar I'm willing to raise.

Splatoon 3 and Mario Golf were my hyped reveals from this Direct. The Xenoblade takeout was the best troll move I have ever seen. Also watching it back I should have realized that Rex and pyra were talking to each other on Final Destination cause of the rocks on the background. It was there the whole time. Brilliant move by Sakurai

to me the most hype thing was miitopia, and i kept challengeing the direct to hype me more than miitopia

I was most hyped for Samurai Warriors 5 but also because the alliance between Koei Tecmo and Nintendo now that's yielded stuff like that and Age of Calamity may eventually yield a revisit to the far overlooked Pokémon Conquest. Also I like Warriors games in general.
Zelda Skyward Sword ftw. I never played it on the Wii and now in HD. Also looking forward to Rhythm Heaven, Metroid and Castlevania.

Mario Tennis on GBC is the jam. That and Mario bros deluxe were my games outside of Pokémon gold
I saw an abundance of hate in the live stream on Nintendo's channel when Pyra and Mythra showed up, but I’m not mad in the slightest, even if it is another sword fighter. I dig the female representation, *especially* for Pyra and Mythra!
The thing that gets me about some folks' complaints about swordfighters, is that the majority of the "swordfighters" have other utilities and moves that set them apart for one another. The only basic swordfighters are Marth, Lucina, Roy, Chrom, and to a somewhat lesser extent, Ike.
Really, though, when I think about characters like Doomguy or Master Chief, my first thought is "Okay, what would they REALLY bring them to the table, that sets them apart from someone like Snake?" There's probably some good answers to that question. I've never played Doom or Halo, so I don't know much about those games other than the fact that they're FPS games.

Check out the LoZ anime for more contradiction to this voiceless protagonist canon. My personal headcanon: Link talks, but his commentary and voice don't fit the serious nature of the games. "I'll grab my stuff!" and "I can't wait to kill some dodongos!" are some famous examples.
We caused these destruction when we let team Caos win on the final fest in Splatoon 2. Also we got to tell people a simple motion is enough on SS you don't have to do a full swing like a real sword lol a lot of people had trouble with that

I’ve never played any of the Xenonblade games but they’ve always interested me so I’m honestly excited for Pyra and Mythra to be in smash

but ya im glad fall guys is coming to switch and the ACNL warp pipe is pretty cool. I might get the golf game, but that was about it for me
They used that "not actual gameplay" tag on the Splatoon trailer too, so maybe you can't always go by that.

@@controlsixtyfour That's not exactly accurate either. I seem to recall a couple of occasions when they revealed more than one Smash character in the same event (Ken/Incineroar).

Honestly I'm hyped for the world game, pyra, ss hd, splats 3 and honestly even expanded age of calamity and even the Famicom mystery games and no more heroes, and I'm going to say that your reactions are pretty awesome and rather adorable

They actually made two Mario Sports games with multiple sports: Mario Sports Mix for the Wii (basketball, volleyball, dodgeball, and hockey) and Mario Sports Superstars on the 3DS (soccer, baseball, tennis, golf, and horse racing for some reason). I don't think they were particularly well received, though, because none of the sports were too fleshed out.

my actual highlight was the Famicom Detective Club remake. So weird, i even played a fan translation of the SNES version a decade or 2 ago.

I tried Splatoon 1 and I just wasn't too much of a fan of the actual game, but i would be lying if the franchise wouldn't just ooze style! The presentaion has always been amazing

@10:53 I’ma lefty too!! And Link was one of my favorite Nintendo characters ‘cause he was a lefty!! But when Eiji Aonuma took over the Zelda franchise, he changed Link into a righty and he forced all of us to hold/use the Wiimote with our right hand, I was so made!! Link was my left-handed hero I grew up with, to see a lefty in a video game franchise made me feel represented. But Eiji Aonuma ruined that when he changed Link into just another righty Swordsman taking away what made him special and unique to begin with!! 😡🤦🏻♂️
*Fun Fact: Shigeru Miyamoto is also a lefty and he created Link based on himself. (and his favorite Disney film: Peter Pan)
