I just went here yesterday with my sister and rode this 3 times :) One of my favorites!! A few years back, my family went to Disneyland with my grandma. She is the absolute best. She's handicapped, so we had to take her around the park in a wheelchair. The line for splash mountain was incredibly long, and my grandma would normally NEVER go on such a ride. That day, she told my family that she'd use her handicap for our sake and got us to the front of the ride and went on it with us. Now that was awesome!!
Kid: "Mommy, what movie is this ride based on?" Mom: "Well, honey, it's based on--" Disney: "SPLASH MOUNTAIN, THE RIDE'S BASED ON SPLASH MOUNTAIN, IT'S AN ORIGINAL CONCEPT. Here, kid, do you like Dimetapp?"
When this first opened, they fully acknowledged the source material. That said, Splash Mountain was the last time Disney acknowledged the film properly. It's really kind of funny how much they're trying to distance themselves from it when multimillion dollar E ticket attractions based on the film were not only built, but became instant classics.

me going on splash mountain for the first time: first drop: kinda scared third drop: hated it , even more scared last drop: had a mental breakdown when we were going up the lift hill
Would it be weird to buy a Disney annual pass and just go by myself whenever I want? None of my friends want to go because it's so expensive and I just love Disneyland too much. I've been Disneyland deprived; I've been wanting to go badly for more than a year and I haven't gone in like 2 years. Within that duration I got 2 free tickets but have had to sell them or give them away because I never had the opportunity to go but now I have my license and I can drive myself... THE CROWDS AND EXPENSIVE FOOD AND MERCHANDISE TURN ME OFF SO MUCH but I always want to come back. It holds sentimental value somehow. THX FOR READING MY RANT KTHXBAI
You can nothing about the crowds. There will always be people who want to go to Disneyland as much as you do so it would only make sense that Disneyland will be crowded. However, you can go during their least busiest times. January to about beginning of May is their least busiest times and possibly November. You just have to plan it right and take advantage of their fast passes. That way you won't have to wait in too many lines. As for the food, you can always bring a lunch but if you get a pass you get 15% off so it might lighten the bill a little bit. Get an annual pass. It may sound pricey at first but if you at least 7 or 8 times. It pays for itself. I've gotten a pass for the past 3 years and I love it. You won't regret it. Don't worry about not going with anybody. Who knows. Maybe while you're at Disneyland you'll make some friends there who share the same love for Disneyland as you do.
I go to Disneyland by myself all the time it's actually more enjoyable because you run at your pace, see things you've never seen before no unexpected potty breaks it's great lol and single riders is dope so just go lol I'll go with you if you want haha
😭 this is so sad that they're changing it, this ride taught kids how to be happy like they did it back in the day. woke mob wants everyone to be miserable...😓
Today is the first day of spring break and I just had a dream about Disneyland and how fun it was.. I'm not going anywhere spring break.. I'm here to fill in the void lol
I saw a video from Florida where a man wearing a mask in 2020 because you are supposed to and he was riding splash mountain till the ride closed temporarily til the next day and it is still standing in florida I think I do not not know about anaheim though
Well guess what? I'm posting this comment from the distant year of 2042 and Splash Mountain is not only back, but cancel culture is banned, and SJWs are being sent to re-education camps.
This is from 2010 so the geese look young and great. The way Disney let the animatronics go was really disgusting. The ride growing up was never creepy!
@Jackson Crossman the ride itself isn't racist but the movie is lol why would Disney try to keep a ride with a movie that it's been trying to sweep under the rug for years now? I love the ride personally but they should have remodelled this along time ago.
@@DUDETHATLIKESMEMES What parts of the movie are racist? I'm genuinely trying to get a grasp on where the racism lies...what scenes, characters, etc. show racism? I haven't seen the movie so I'm relying on folks that have seen it to give some insight :)
@@nttwashere The film has some minor iffy stereotypes/moments and a lot of people don't agree with the message Uncle Remus (the old black guy telling the Brer Rabbit stories) puts in his stories, which is basically just to go with the flow. The problem with that message is the film doesn't really specify what time period it's set in and the little white kid in victorian era clothes watching a bunch of black plantation "workers" singing and dancing about how much they love their lives and the plantation they work on isn't a very good look.
You're not wrong to think they're creepy but unnessecary? They're very nessecarily since the ride is based on The Song of the South, an animation Disney made in the 40s or 50s.
What a shame we lost this amazing ride to the cancel culture. Just because 1% of people are offended by a song, it shouldn't mean the other 99% have to feel the effects. R.I.P. Splash Mountain
@@gracekochanek The song doesn't say anything, but the song is tied to a movie about a black family who many assume to be slaves, even though this is never proven.
Skullkrane Entertainment The complaints are that the ride is based on the “Song of The South”, which is considered racist. Still doesn't make any sense to change the ride, since the ride itself doesn't have a single racist element.
Though I am glad that they are avoiding the controversial film this ride was based on I will miss the original splash Mountain. It has been there since the day I was born and it’s a big part of my childhood as is everyone else’s. It just will not be the same. However I am looking forward to the new princess and the frog version they will have ready...
I have more nostalgia for the Disney World one, but this one is still pretty awesome. I like that it's a bit more of a thrill with more drops and no lap bars. I still think that I like the Disney World one better.
My parents and I were shocked to hear that this ride was down in May 2019 which was last year. We adapted and went on Pinocchio's Daring Journey instead. How disappointing was that? We're unable to travel to Disneyland in Spring and Fall 2020, because it's closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
@@macc-sepulveda9599 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 It's such a disappointment that my friends and 👪 including 🧛🏻♀️amp1️⃣ aren't able to go to Disneyland in May and October 2020, because it's temporarily shutdown due to the coronavirous outbreak?
@@TheTbabylati I'm glad to hear that. My dad and I rerode it 2️⃣ years ago in November for my birthday. I'm NOT revealing my large age to you in the comment boards, because it's a violation of privacy.
+Crazy Wharf625 Their version of Fantasmic is probably the best thing about Tokyo disneysea. Other than that, I'd say all their parks are equal since each have their own awesome exclusive attractions. Disneyland Paris has Phantom Manor, Hong Kong Disneyland has Mystic Manor. You know how it is
This is my favorite ride. I have so many good memories of it. When my dad and I went on for the first time, we got a front row seat. My sister hates it so her and my mom would go get a coke or something while my dad and I went on it.
Last time we were there we got stuck right when the vulture's were singing about how we were going to die for 30 minutes. And It was 5 years after my last trip to a Disney park 0_0
If they won’t even release the movie because it’s so racist why would they have a ride for it. Just makes people ask questions Disney doesn’t want to answer.
Also Princess and the Frog's Tiana is a human and may not very effective for Critter Country because it is a land for animals/beasts so Princess and the Frog ride should be built as a new unique ride in New Orleans Square that is sheltered inside the building like Pirates of the Caribbean and Haunted Mansion do.
I know I shouldn’t be surprised by this point, but I can’t believe that there’s actually some people out there who are idiotic enough to actually believe this ride is racist 🤦♂️
The ride isn’t racist but the movie it’s based off of is. Even do this ride is iconic and you don’t change it. It’s a good reminder that we’re trying to move past it and not be like that anymore
Natalie Cramer Have you ever seen the film? It’s not racist. It’s criticised because it’s an idealised interpretation of post-civil war America. On that basis, all Disney films should be banned. Especially Mary Poppins. Poor Bert the chimney sweep made to look happy with his lot in an unrealistic rendering of Edwardian London! Are they going to make a Cinderella sequel where she’s sent to the guillotine, like Marie Antoinette? And what would be left if they banned all the sexist Disney films? Having a black hero in a film in 1947 was extremely progressive for the time. The criticism is simply not valid.
Thank you for the memories Br’er Rabbit and company. At least the signature song will always live on as it has throughout Disney and it’s parks. 🐰🦊🐻🐦🎩🌲🌳🍃🍂⛰🌊🎵🎶

@@lavybes9864 You can't improve on perfection. There is no song that can replace Zippidy Do Dah, the beauty of these characters, or the moral of their story. Princess and the Frog is a cheap money grab.
equilibrium1736 considering that Song of the South is not aired on any disney sites or disney plus, and they don’t represent it anymore, shows you that it is not a movie that should be represented at all, even in the form of a ride. they re themed TOT at Cali Adventures (now Pixar Pier) and that was an amazing ride, but they still changed it. yes, SM is a classic, but sometimes change can be good.
equilibrium1736 and, half of the time, most of the animatronics in that ride don’t work anymore. there’s always about 2-3 that are out of power somewhere in the ride. it’s old and outdated.
Most likely it won’t it would take a ginormous amount of time and money, because the whole attraction is based off the film, so Disney would have to strip the entire thing, and it would leave a lot of fans devastated, so I doubt it hopefully nothing changes

the singing birds will give me and my friend nightmares
AAron Merkel+ Try getting in and out with out stepping on the seats. You can't do it.
I've done it, but it is a bit tricky :)
When you're going up for the big drop, don't you guys think or agree that the animatronics make it more scary
Michelle Alvarado “We’ll show YOU a laughing place!” - Vultures
I would be so scared of the big drop to care, kind of though
me going on splash mountain for the first time:
first drop: kinda scared
third drop: hated it , even more scared
last drop: had a mental breakdown when we were going up the lift hill
I hold to hold on to my sis...AND I STARTED CRYING!!! Soo all you see in the pic is just my hand
Not at all! That's perfectly fine! :)
Do it! I'm in the same boat :) sometimes going by yourself can even be more fun!
+ofowlsandcities Nice video

😭 this is so sad that they're changing it, this ride taught kids how to be happy like they did it back in the day. woke mob wants everyone to be miserable...😓
Man I wanna go on this ride trippin on Acid
... mother of god 0_0
you'll go I promise

I love this ride. I can feel the chills just going up that second lift and hearing the owl hooting at you. :)

Kavion your opinion isn’t that big of a deal
YETI yea I know
this makes me so happy omg
Same!!
Wow! They really did use a lot of the America Sings animatronics!
your juhntruns video really needs more views
+Max Moser (aMAXproduction) Yup!
on what time???
L
I got stuck on that ride a couple years ago. I listen to that song like 100 times!
Heather Hart “Gotta get movin’ along!”
I'D LOVE TO HEAR THE SONG 100 TIMES!
"dont cry because it's over, smile because it happened."
Well guess what? I'm posting this comment from the distant year of 2042 and Splash Mountain is not only back, but cancel culture is banned, and SJWs are being sent to re-education camps.
stanfordite ayy lets go
stanfordite Hooray!
@@DisneyDude1928 I can proudly inform you that in the future we can talk to people in the past.
stanfordite Good luck with that. 🙄
I went on that ride one time, its not as scary as creepypasta says it is, its actually kind of cool seeing the animatronics!
Eeh haha it is so creative how the time and the effort was put into the ride! Like your going through the hole story!
What creepypasta?
Wth creepypasta there's a creepypasta of this SOMEONE TELL ME ABOUT IT
This is from 2010 so the geese look young and great. The way Disney let the animatronics go was really disgusting. The ride growing up was never creepy!
I would legit close my eyes the whole time AINT NOBODY GOT TIME FOR DAT
Lmao funny i did that on this ride but the drop doesnt feel as big as it looks
when you watched this video as a kid and now you come back to it in 2020 🥺
I saw some watermelons toward the beginning, but I didn't see anything but woodsy animals singing. Nothing racist. Please explain.
The movie this is based upon is racist as hell 🤷🏽♂️🤷🏽♂️
@Jackson Crossman the ride itself isn't racist but the movie is lol why would Disney try to keep a ride with a movie that it's been trying to sweep under the rug for years now? I love the ride personally but they should have remodelled this along time ago.
@@DUDETHATLIKESMEMES What parts of the movie are racist? I'm genuinely trying to get a grasp on where the racism lies...what scenes, characters, etc. show racism? I haven't seen the movie so I'm relying on folks that have seen it to give some insight :)
legalizitt here’s your 👑 you dropped
@@nttwashere The film has some minor iffy stereotypes/moments and a lot of people don't agree with the message Uncle Remus (the old black guy telling the Brer Rabbit stories) puts in his stories, which is basically just to go with the flow. The problem with that message is the film doesn't really specify what time period it's set in and the little white kid in victorian era clothes watching a bunch of black plantation "workers" singing and dancing about how much they love their lives and the plantation they work on isn't a very good look.
Am I the only one that believes the singing animals are creepy and unnecesary on this ride? I really find animatronic animals/figures scary
Fnaf?
Probably the splash mountain creepypasta i couldnt get through.
You're not wrong to think they're creepy but unnessecary? They're very nessecarily since the ride is based on The Song of the South, an animation Disney made in the 40s or 50s.
Mandi P It is also necesary to scare the crap out of the kids, i guess haha lol
that's what makes the ride unique
OMG this was my favourite ride in Disneyland.
Man, I want to go there again.
Is the drop scary
No it's not scary it goes super slow actually
thanks

Marlin and squidward have never realized everyone else does the same thing lol
How many of you guys got scared of that last drop lmao i know I was scared lol
It’s the best drop at Disneyland or World.
What a shame we lost this amazing ride to the cancel culture. Just because 1% of people are offended by a song, it shouldn't mean the other 99% have to feel the effects. R.I.P. Splash Mountain
what does the song say?
@@gracekochanek The song doesn't say anything, but the song is tied to a movie about a black family who many assume to be slaves, even though this is never proven.
Skullkrane Entertainment The complaints are that the ride is based on the “Song of The South”, which is considered racist. Still doesn't make any sense to change the ride, since the ride itself doesn't have a single racist element.

This is just a ride, the movie is messed up, not the ride. I never even got to ride it😢
Those animal robot things freak me the heck out, i have a fear of being trapped in a cartoon world like that.
Yeah me too and I have for all my life.
They made a videogame out of that idea, it's called 5 nights at freedys
oh god i saw that game after seeing this and was like NOPE NOPE NOPE NOPE
I had a Nightmare that I was in a Cartoon world and I was Cartoon Arnold Schwarzenegger .
XD what
Though I am glad that they are avoiding the controversial film this ride was based on I will miss the original splash Mountain. It has been there since the day I was born and it’s a big part of my childhood as is everyone else’s. It just will not be the same. However I am looking forward to the new princess and the frog version they will have ready...
Disney is the one who made it controversial by hiding it. They should be releasing the film and making new cartoons with these characters.
I'm going back in 16 days, for the 24 hour event ♥ Excited to ride this again :)
I really miss Splash Mountain @ BOTH Disneyland and Walt Disney World! 😭
We do too!
I have more nostalgia for the Disney World one, but this one is still pretty awesome. I like that it's a bit more of a thrill with more drops and no lap bars. I still think that I like the Disney World one better.
I love going on it at night as well, even if it's cold I just put on a jacket and enjoy the ride.
I cant wait to go on July 15
My parents and I were shocked to hear that this ride was down in May 2019 which was last year. We adapted and went on Pinocchio's Daring Journey instead. How disappointing was that? We're unable to travel to Disneyland in Spring and Fall 2020, because it's closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

+Da Tube Me too I've been on every Splash Mountain except Tokyo Disneyland's
I honestly think Tokyo Disneyland's is best. Go onto RUclips and look it up. Its cool
You know how it is
yea
Gonna miss this ride :( At least they're not removing it, just re-themeing it
I WOULD LOVE TO RIDE THIS EXCEPT FOR THE FACT THAT THE LINE IS A 2HOUR WAIT!!
Fast Pass is the way to go buddy.
haha i had fast pass for every ride
Yea fast past is only 1 hour
Diamante Dea I went on this at night, when it was pouring!!! And I just walked through and got on the ride!!!!! No wait at all!!!
Diamante Dea I have a fast past and I go right by all those peoe I'm acutally going in 2 weeks
This is my favorite ride. I have so many good memories of it. When my dad and I went on for the first time, we got a front row seat. My sister hates it so her and my mom would go get a coke or something while my dad and I went on it.
When you’re in the ride you feel like every1 else on the cart becomes your friend because of how scared you get
Never thought I would cry over a yt video
Last time we were there we got stuck right when the vulture's were singing about how we were going to die for 30 minutes. And It was 5 years after my last trip to a Disney park 0_0
Same thing happened with me but I was stuck longer
who else thinks they should just build a princess and the frog ride from scratch instead of changing this one
Fuck that!!!!!!!
Disney wouldn’t have enough money because of COVID-19. So, let’s just enjoy it before it closes
SuperLOLBros but they’re wasting money on rethemeing the entire ride...
If they won’t even release the movie because it’s so racist why would they have a ride for it. Just makes people ask questions Disney doesn’t want to answer.
SuperLOLBrothers pfffff hahaha thats a good joke.
6:58 the drop seems smaller than the one in Florida. anyone notice that?
Demon Sparked this is the one in California
They are both the same height. But it does look smaller in this video.
Demon Sparked yesss
the drop in florida is way better
Yeah, it looks a lot shorter than the one in Florida. I go to Disney World every other weekend, I would know.
Bro this was THE splash mountain video to watch when you were a kid. I remember watching this so many times
I love living only 30 mins away from Disneyland. :) Happiest place on earth!

This vid helped me get on the ride for the first time. Thank.
One With The Gold the best right!
Me too
This ride is so nostalgic, we will all be so lucky to have our stories to tell of this ride
Was a fun and amazing ride...
Yes it was!
I hate how this is being rethemed
Kenzie Jean I did. I am just sad about the change and will miss song of the south being the rides theme.
If this ride gets changed because of the petitioners I will lose all faith in Disney. Edit: RIP splash mountain
Retheming one of my greatest childhood memories is the biggest crime disney has done :(
I know I shouldn’t be surprised by this point, but I can’t believe that there’s actually some people out there who are idiotic enough to actually believe this ride is racist 🤦♂️
Ikr
Wait how could it even be racist 👁👄👁
The ride isn’t racist but the movie it’s based off of is. Even do this ride is iconic and you don’t change it. It’s a good reminder that we’re trying to move past it and not be like that anymore
Natalie Cramer they’re changing the ride :(
Natalie Cramer Have you ever seen the film?

This might be gone soon. Very sad.
No it won't be.
Most likely it won’t it would take a ginormous amount of time and money, because the whole attraction is based off the film, so Disney would have to strip the entire thing, and it would leave a lot of fans devastated, so I doubt it hopefully nothing changes
