my older brother was the right guard on the game winning kick, he held up what like seemed to be the world to me to let this kick through. My parents where out of town and I was at home alone as a teenager watching. I printed up some game winning stats and attached them to the mailbox, I have never felt such elation in my life, I felt like my family won the superbowl that day.
As a Penn State fan, if the 2019 loss to Minnesota stung like a bee, this game was like getting mauled by a bear. 2019 loss damaged but didn't end our national championship hopes, 1999 loss began a nightmare period called "the dark years" from that game up until the goal line stand at Indiana where Penn State just couldn't win.
Man don't dredge up those memories. I've had to go through those years and the sanction years in my lifetime. Being too young to remember 1994, I only have 2005/2008/2016 to hang on to. 2009 and 2017 somewhat, but even those years were a bit of a letdown.
@@ericstencovage4058 The 90's was an amazing decade for Penn State. Every year Penn State was in the national title discussion as a serious contender (even part of 1992) but one year, 1994 they actually did it. I wish you could remember 1994 because that was a special kind of magical, imagine the best parts of 2005, 2008, and 2016 all rolled into one. Only downside is finishing #2 in both the AP and Coaches. I wish I was old enough to fully remember the 1986 season because that one was special as well.
@@AltoonaYourPiano I've since watched the games, but yeah, don't remember it live. My first real memories were around 1996 but didn't follow the team for a full season until 1999 (unfortunately).
Stunned is the only word possible. I remember exiting the stadium and wondering what this weird sound was. Then I realized it was the sound of empty water bottles rolling down the steps. The stadium was so quiet you could hear the plastic bottles rolling all over the stadium as the fans exited.
Yeah, this will always be as I see it our worst loss since it set off "the dark years" that didn't end until the goal line stand at Indiana in 2004. I still get that sick feeling in my stomach whenever I hear "Dan Nystrom for the win". It's even worse than the Rutgers loss in 1988 for that very reason.
Who you guys got in this one on Saturday?

And sorry the quality is kinda bad, but you can’t expect a lot from 1999 footage
I thought the quality looked great for the 90s, it looks like a mid to late 2000s quality
Later that same year, a guy named Tom Brady, who played for Michigan, beat Penn State in a 4th quarter comeback victory at Happy Valley.
Super Man No. I think he played for the Buccaneers for 5 years then retired. He never had a winning season in his career.
One year later, I called it....
It was the very next weekend.
It was the very next week, in fact.
This old highlight is so awesome. What a great game!

future CFL star Arland Bruce with the clutch 4th down catch
this game feels like it was from another century. god i'm getting old.
lula livre I mean.. it was😂 just barely
Golden Gophers gonna win. It doesn’t even matter for PSU cuz they are just gonna get steamrolled by the Buckeyes and not make the playoff
Let’s go Ducks
Gophers would then have to play OSU in the B10 title game. Would be an interesting matchup
Garbage Time Videos GO DUCKS
This was my first ever heartbreak as a kid. I was inconsolable for days after this game.
34-31 minnesota wins it in a close one because PJ really wants to win it it's like the start of his real coaching career if minnesota wins
Oh man, this game still breaks my heart. We all sat in the stands stunned that we lost. The rest of the season just fell apart from there.

Could you do the Alabama vs LSU game in 2011 if you haven't? That game is tomorrow and the hype for this year is just as high as it was that year
The 2019 version was amazing
And as a Penn State fan, definitely one of the worst moments since I can remember back from 1978
Horrible!!! Horrible!!! Horrible!!!!
