Arlen is a genuinely nice guy. When I was a kid, he politely wrote back a letter answering questions I had about not only his videos but instructional video offerings by other companies as well.
Wow , I remember this from my youth , when I’d barely conquered my first bar chords. Brings back memories. Every guitarist should have this in there arsenal.
I saw Arlen do a guitar clinic in the early 90's at The Ballard Firehouse in Seattle and it was freakin' awesome. Even after all these years and clinics I've been to it still stands as one of the best.
I saw him do a guitar clinic at a music store in ohio probably in the mid to late 1980s and he was playing a Peavey guitar, I assume because Peavey sponsored the clinic. He played a bit on a vintage Fender Telecaster, but it’s all in his hands really.
Likewise, it was searching for an old video I had when I first started to learn that found me here. I cannot remember the specific title but it was basic tock music for beginners,a little rhythm and basic lead. I learnt a fair bit from it, more than I believed at the time I suspect. All I do remember for sure was he had a Strat with a welll worn maple fingerboard. Now some 30 years later I'm sitting here tying this with a maple necked strat in playing position. This is a great video, he's as good at teaching as I remember. Class 😊😊
@@bobjames1972 well said my friend.I had the same experience 30 something years ago.both of us and a lot more of others as well should be grateful of that/
Lol. I like Arlen Roth. I was looking for an old video I had by him on blues and found this. Video as good as can be expected from an old VHS. The glitches reminded me of Max Headroom. I do like. Ty

thnks so much for your coment ..He's one the best on R&B..I like him!
Still have the bootleg vhs and the photocopied book , bought it decades back for the same price as a brand new video back then lol....bought them all overpriced bootlegs, from Paul Gilbert to Malmsteen , those were the fun years , I even sold my bother's cassette player in order to get another bootleg of Greg Howe😁😄
The Greg Howe video is essential, along with Intense Rock 1, the first Richie Kotzen video, the Steve Lynch video and couple others. All those videos will open your eyes to unlimited possibilities on the fretboard.
Did downloaded this video with Ares, uploaded it to RUclips and they banned it from my channel because of copyrights issues, wish you better luck, for the good of guitar players

Love this man. Blues under the microscope is one of my favs to this day in my 40s
MAN, THIS TAKES ME BACK 20+ YEARS
I learnt the basics and more from Arlen's videos back in the day and still do they're brilliant
So many session players used guitars that are totally overlooked on the secondary market today
that's true!!
Steve Cropper played a Peavey tele for years and had his own model. Can't argue with the originator 🤘

This looks like a US made Peavey; the headstock shape is the giveaway.

This guys playing takes my breath away..🙏☀️
Bought Arlen's FIRST course, with cassette tapes and printed instructions...He taught me how to play, WITHOUT video!
I bought it also. Still have it!
I respect that more, its no easy thing to learn without visual help, kids today have it a lot easier, but they all sound the same
Great video lesson 👍 👍👍👍
Thanks for this upload ❤🙏 genius guitar teacher
