Failure to drain the float bowl of kerosine just turning on the petrol tap was one of the most common reason for hard to start Fordson Tractors. The grey smoke when first started indicates this was the problem of a petrol kerosine mix.
Makes me cringe when people spin them! P. L. E. A. S. E DON'T! This is when they'll kick ya arse to the moon. Just keep plugging from the bottom to 9 0 clock. They'll go when THEY are ready! That's a Standard Fordson for you.
Two guys with no idea how to start a Fordson! I can say this as I’ve been there and done this too. It must look hilarious to any on the old guys still around, that actually know the correct way start one.
