I don’t think this is something just anyone could do. You need the eye of the artist and the touch of a watchmaker. You have those. I’m a hammer and chisel kind of guy and you wouldn’t want to fly in the plane that I built the prop for (assuming it was flight worthy at all). Love your videos. 😎👍👀 ✈️

Very interesting. I had an FBO next door to Univair back in the late sixties. Univair was still making wood props back then. I watched the manufacturing process and learned first hand how much hand sanding was involved to get the prop ‘perfect’ as you say. It cured me of ever thinking I could make my own prop.

  • @jbyrd655

Don't want to tell you your business, but you might find that if the mandrel you use when balancing matches the hub hole diameter there won't be as much discrepancy in the vertical and horizontal balance. If the increased friction from the larger diameter axle interferes with the movement different sized bushings to fit the different hub hole sizes could be made to accept the what-looks-like 1" axle...
Also, regarding the band saw upper guide height, looks like the way you use it fits your application well, but most upper guides have both lateral and fore and aft adjustments for blade positioning and stability. From the video it looks like the fore and aft roller should be tightened so the blade is held more rigidly; seemed to me there was almost 1/2" of deflection, which seems excessive.
A more rigidly-held balde will aid in more accurate cuts.
