      Big shout out to Paul Springer for the editing. He did a great job of getting some rough stuff into a smart video.

    Great video Martin! I'm always happy when Caylus gets more love. Caylus is one of my favourite games and I find with the "cult of the new" it gets overlooked. I know Heavy Cardboard (long time viewer here) has showcased Caylus before but I'll go on record now and say that we'd love to see it get tabled again!

    I love to see some love for Three Kingdoms! One of my favourites. Edward's absolutely right to call out it's unique combination of worker placement with bidding.

    I love me some Mr Fowler, so there's definitely much room for more like this one.

    Great video. I similarly apply the Race For The Galaxy test. There's a million card based games where you look for synergies and build a tableau, not many come out favourably when held up against RftG.

    •  5 месяцев назад +1

      RftG full arc 1 is the reason why i own much fewer card games than i would normally own. There are few games that passed my RftG test. Res arcana and Core worlds (must be with expansion). I hope Seasons and Imperium will pass RftG test. Just curious, what games pass your RftG test?

    "Five is right out" - nice Monty Python reference. Really, there should be more Holy Hand Grenades in board games.

    I really enjoyed the video, especially since I'll finally have my first game of Three Kingdoms next week... but I'm begging you, pleeeease do the next video without the background music, it was quite a distraction.

    That was fun Martin, thank you! Next in the series: The Concordia Test. Just saying. Also, how about persuading the HC Crew to play Steam, rather than AoS, just for a change? AoI is getting some love, why not Steam?

    • @martinfowlercom
      @martinfowlercom 5 месяцев назад +1

      We've talked about doing some Steam: Rails to Riches at some point, but there still so many AoS maps, that we haven't got around to it yet. I do have all the Steam:RtR maps, so we have access to them when the time comes.

    I took have Agricola and Three Kingdoms Redux among my top worker placement games but my one recent play of Viticulture I thought was very mediocre. The seasonal division of actions is interesting but that was the only thing I appreciated.
    The other ones I'd highlight are Age of Empires III, and Tribune

    Nice, I have a similar test for Area majority games (although I put it that way before) the El Grande test. Problem is nothing has beaten the El Grande test. Sure you need 5 players for El Grande but you don’t have 5 go play a different style of game.
