Heavenly Pacts and Restrictions are born. Pacts as a whole are consented to promises you MUST keep, and they are enforced in some way, usually killing the one that breaks it. But Heavenly Pacts are different in that you just are forced into it from the day you are born. Maki has NEVER been able to see curses or use cursed energy and never will. Mechamaru has ALWAYS had a body as fragile as it is and there is no way to fix it that sorcerers are capable of. But Heavenly Pacts are given a "blessing" because it has to be a transaction of a sort. So Maki has been given a peak human physicality and the strength and speed to even catch bullets from super close range, while on the opposite end, Mechamaru has the giant pool of cursed energy to be able to use these giant techniques even from a long distance away with a puppet body.
Small correction: Mechamaru has enhanced cursed energy production and enhanced cursed energy control range, two effects. If he uses cursed energy he'd recover it abnormally fast, he also figured out how to store it externally using his technique
This episode completely flipped my view of Mai. Instead of a mean and petty girl, I realized she is a deeply hurt sister that misdirected her own anger and abuse against the person she shouldn't have. And I completely understand where both Mai and Maki are coming from; Maki couldn't stand the abuse she went through and left, and Mai was treated even worse after Maki left and her opinion of Maki soured as a result. Of course, we know that anger should have been aimed solely at the clan, but a person as deeply abused and mistreated as Mai wouldn't recognize that. The whole thing is just heartbreaking.
Totally. Like, Maki had two choices, either sacrifice her own dreams or leave her sister behind. Obviously, it’s entirely clan’s fault for forcing her to make the decision, but I can absolutely see why Mai has so much resentment. Even if you know that the clan’s at fault, it would be so hard to look at your sister without thinking “If you hadn’t made that choice, I know my life would have been so much better”
Heavenly Pacts are forced upon the owner. They're not something you choose. Maki has no energy and cannot naturally see spirits but can catch bullets mid air. Mechamaru has a crippled and pained body but can cast spells from miles away which is normally impossible.
Slight correction in that. Pacts are voluntary but they aren't called pacts when it comes to what maki has. She has a heavenly restriction, meaning that since birth she can't see cursed spirits at all but in exchange she has superhuman strength. It restricts her cursed energy hence the name
Heavenly Pacts are not chosen, they are IMPOSED upon you. Maki was BORN with this pact that nerfs her cursed energy so hard she can't even see curses, but she has a superhuman physique in return. Just, remember that.
Doesn't matter. The them from this moment in time deserve it. 😂 Joking aside, I never understood why so many fuckin' people fail to understand the heavenly pacts when it was literally explained plain as day last episode. I genuinely get second hand embarrassment every time.
Maki and Mai were born with something called "heavenly pact" Basically, It is a very rare condition where a sorcerer is born with superhuman abilities in a certain area, at the cost of losing something important in the process In Maki's case, she was born with superhuman physical attributes, at the cost of having an almost zero amount of cursed energy (even less than an ordinary human being) Mai on the other hand was born with a very powerful cursed technique (the ability to transform cursed energy into physical matter, which under certain conditions could very well make her a special grade sorcerer) but in exchange she was born with very little cursed energy, not as little as Maki, but still much less than an average sorcerer, and as a result, her cursed technique is pretty much useless Normally both should be very powerful (as is the case with most celestial restrictions) but since they are twins, they share the same heavenly pact So the existence of one of them constantly prevents the other one from reaching their full potential
This Maki's pact is not optional. It's almost a "compensation" you gain due to a lack of something. Mechamaru's case also was a heavenly pact: he didn't chose to born with that amount and control capability. It just happened. On the other side, such gift must have a "curse" (a heavenly pact) to balance his powers. In his case, his body and all the physical aspects were the price for the gift of amount and long range control of cursed energy.

The "heavenly" part of heavenly pact is it not being anybody's decision. It is a "blessing bestowed by god" type thing where you never asked for it, and nobody did it to you. They were just born with that as part of who they are, much the same way that sorcerers either are born with a certain technique or not.

Regular pacts are concentual contacts either with one's own curse energy(like Nanami's overtime boost) or with a another cursed entity(like Yuji and Sukuna's pact that brought Yuji back from death). Heavenly pacts are nonconcentual impositions that have a compensatory bonus. In Maki's case, the downside for a normal person would be entirely negligible, for a normal sorcerer would be mostly negligible, and for the family she was born to is heavily exacerbated. She would have had the choice of what life to lead without much resistance if she was born to any other family, but because the zenin are famous for their strength with cursed energy she has to fight harder to be seen as anything more than dirt. In Mecamaru's case, the upside is only useful to a sorcerer. His volume of cursed energy started at a point that pro sorcerers would envy and his range when using it is unmatched even by those who have trained a lifetime. The downside makes life nearly unlivable though and so he had to be a sorcerer where at least the upside could be used. He never really had a choice to live separated from the world of curses.
as others have said heavenly pacts are involuntary, you have them at birth whether you wanted them or not and they basically always have some kind of trade off where you lose one thing in exchange for another, but again it's an "exchange" you didn't agree to, this is probably why they're called heavenly pacts because it's seemingly given from heaven or the universe itself. We've seen two heavenly pacts so far, Mechamaru has a heavenly pact which in exchange for his disabled and frail body he has a ton of cursed energy that he can use over extremely long distances, and Maki's heavenly pact which in exchange for her ability to use cursed energy and see cursed spirits granted her superhuman strength and speed.
People with heavenly packs is not because they chose it What it means is one can have one ability but loses other best example is mechamaru he lost the ability of having limbs and but in returns he has so much curse energy that the range of his curse is not being limited by where he is hence being able to control a puppet as his own body using curse techniques

She'd probably be able to be #1 in every sport she wanted to join. Depending on the amp, she may even be able to beat men. Imagine her beating Mike Tyson. Sure, no Cursed Technique, but she could earn millions.
I dont know why the dub decided to call heavenly pacts and restrictions the same thing. A pact is something you have to keep yourself. A restriction is something that you have no control over. Maki has a heavenly restriction. The name says it for itself. Her cursed energy is restricted, meaning she cant use it at all, since birth. She didnt make any kind of pact when she was born. I think you've confused the names Mai and Mei a few times. Totally reasonable though. I will say that I think the character they drew Montana as in this show and in MHA are weird choices.
This episode actually make me like Mai *less*. "Oh, life is so hard, you should have just forced yourself into servitude with me because being independent is too scary!" Spare me. She projects onto everyone else because she's too weak to confront her own fears, and expects her sister to just kowtow to the clan and live like a wretch. It's heartbreaking seeing siblings fight like this, I guess, but honestly, eff her, I'd cut her out of my life too if she were my sister.
Mai was literally forced to be a Jujutsu Sorcerer because of Maki. She has all the right to hate her. If you read the manga, you know very well what happened to Mai. Even after being forced to become a Jujutsu Sorcerer and having a miserable life, she sacrificed herself for her sister.
The dialogue in dubbed is so much better than subbed (this episode), as it sounds more like a real conversation. I normally prefer subbed, but sometimes in JJK the subbed dialogue and conversations sound dumb (very small amount, the story is written so well, that when it doesn't it gets highlighted), I think it might be how the subtitles are worded. I did like this episode but I hated the dialogue between Noboru and Momo, and the dialogue between Maki and Mai, in subbed it sounded more like Mai wanted both of them to stay as losers, in dubbed it actually makes sense she didn't want to me a Sorcerer and wanted to just be normal and not deal with scary curses.

Let’s react watch haikyuu
So basicaly Blondie try to play victim card. But Nobara has to big balls for that bulshit.

Is the woman even able to follow the story or the lines? Isn't her sense of humor too bad?
I don't see an issue 🤷🏽♀️
Go watch someone else if you don't like it.
bro just posted cringe
It would've definitely been less confusing if the dub just called it heavenly restriction instead of heavenly pact
