Many hydrometers are 'Triple Scale'. They all work the same but the triple scale includes 'Potential ABV' (when ferementing to 0.0) and deliniations for each degree ABV so you can adjust as needed. Without a lot of math ;) It also has the traditional Brix scale for wine.

When I bottle anything sparkling I squeeze all the air out of a Coke bottle and fill and cap it while still squeezing it. When the bottle expands and is hard I put the full glass bottles in the fridge. Works for me never had an explosion.
